  1. I agree that the Kennedy Space Center is a budget buster.

And, this isn't a place that you can just zip in and spend a couple of hours and see it all.

The place is massive.  There are many buildings and other sites of interest on the property.  They have buses to take you around, and guided tours if you wish.  There are interactive displays and IMAX movies.

The thing my kids enjoyed the most were the lectures by the astronauts, followed by Q & A with the audience.  I'll bet those guys wish they had a nickel for every time they've been asked how they go to the bathroom in space.

Although it's expensive, it's worth it. There's no place else like it.  Every American should visit there at least once.

    TCD

My late assessment of KSC: As a huge space nerd, I second TCD on how amazing it is there....but certainly not cheap. We did manage to make it alittle cheaper by getting a deal on ONE season pass. That allowed us to park for free and get a discount on tickets for everyone else in the party.  General admission also gets you into the Astronaut Hall of Fame which I thought was great, but you need an extra day to see that.  It really is a two-day adventure.

  2. Yes, you HAVE to use the Cable Modem that comes from the Meadow Trading Post. Those modems are set up to communicate with their particular service provider. A random cable modem will not be, without contacting the provider and providing them the MAC address of the modem.

Now you CAN bring your own wireless router and hook that up to the cable modem they provide, then you can have wireless in your camper and around your site.

We do bring a router and that works out great. I know NOTHING about techie stuff. I think he is just trying to simplify our set up.  He knows a lot about networking, so he must have something specific in mind...again, I know nothing about it. It's a miracle I can even type stuff on this board (that might be an exaggeration).

  3. We haven't really even thought about where we're going to be when yet - this may end up being a total "wing it" trip - but we'll definitely check in as we get closer and let you know.  Pork tacos sound great!  :)

Yeah, I am one of those weird planner people...otherwise I would never be able to get the herd of cats my family moving in one direction and I would have to be committed to the funny farm. Honestly, I'm gonna make the dang pork anyway because it travels so well....plenty to share along the way with the wingers and the planners! 8)

  4. Of all the tasty treats you can get at WDW, the turkey legs are the finest. I love the things. I love the grease running down my arm. I love feeling like Fred Flintstone while I eat one. I love the pieces of turkey meat getting caught between my teeth so I can suck them out if I get hungry on Pirates later in the day. I love smacking unruly kids in the head with the bone. I love making noise when I eat them and tearing the meat off like some Neanderthal, making young girls turn away and vomit in disgust. It is everything that makes a man happy to be a man. I would eat them if Bobby doubled the price. 12 bucks is a deal. There has to be 5 lbs of meat on the things. The mark of a true turkey leg connoisseur is the greasy faced smile and the dirty Mickey t shirt he wears from wiping his greasy hands on it.

I might just have to buy one to watch my kid try to eat it. Then we'll follow it up with Dave's version of a turkey leg.

  5. They look disgusting.  Big and red and greasy looking with all those tendons sticking out.  Blah.  And not something I want to stand and eat in the 90 degree sun.

They do seem super gross. They serve them in Texas at all the county fairs and theme parks...but they generally aren't so giant...or expensive. But she watched a dang documentary on "must have" disney treats and is now convinced that she must have a "machine made" pizza at Pizzafari and a turkey leg.

I don't like to eat anything that looks the same on my plate as it did scampering about in the wild.  And that leg looks like a leg. I sound like a total weirdo.
