This is Cleo playing dead kitty. It is the funniest thing ever. She will only do it for my daughter. She picks her and says dead kitty and there she goes.

Cleo also thinks she is a chihuahua but that is a story for another day. :rofl2:

While I hope ND does well again this year, realistically, I know they probably won't.

Yes, TCD and I met in person right in line for TSM!! It was a highlight of my trip!!! I am not kidding, it truly was!!!
Four weeks prior to that trip, I had been a healthy "normal" 44 year old lady. I had gone in for surgery for a harmless pre-cancerous condition.......I came out with a double cancer diagnosis.....I had four weeks, before I was scheduled to go in for a major surgery to look for more cancer......we went to Disney for almost two weeks while waiting for the surgery......I was sad and scared.....I was at Disney trying to have fun with my kids, but it was hard.....fast forward to that fateful morning of going through the line at TSM.....I glanced behind me and saw a familiar face.....it was TCD......I had followed his trip reports on the "other" site and then on this one......we had a super quick introduction.......for me, that meeting brought me out of my funk....yea, I was still sad and scared, but that simple meeting gave me something else to think about beside my uncertain future......heck, I had met the FAMOUS TCD!!!!
 
The story continues.....we came home....I had my surgery...I had a tough recovery, while I waited almost two weeks to find out how the pathology came back.....I was only awake for short periods, but I was able to read TCD's trip report from his recent trip, where we had met....even my husband was reading it....TCD mentioned our meeting and went on to invite me by name a few times to join fortfiends.....every night my husband would ask me if I had joined yet and we would talk about TCD's update of the day......Once, I got good test results back that no more cancer was found, I joined fortfieds........to say TCD is  my FAVORITE trip report writer is an understatement......meeting him, even briefly and reading his report while I recovered were bright spots in my life during a bleak time.
 
So yes, I have a "thing" for the TCD!!!!!

I still go with Bama over Georgia this week if I had money on it but I will root for Georgia bc Bama has had their day recently and Kelly should get a shot at college football glory for her team. After all its been since 1980 for the Dawgs and since 88 for the Irish.

Except for the thickness, one version of it is about the same size as a Nook, Kindle, or other piece of electronic crap that you wasted your money on. And it never needs charging.
If it falls between a bedroom slide and the wall of a MH, there is a good chance that with a few shakes, it will still operate. In fact the slide may be damaged more than the item.

Here is my helpful advice: When traveling with many young campers, it is very helpful to dress them all in the same color shirt each day. It makes spotting the one who is wandering off much easier. If you dress in the same color as well, helpful stranger will point out the wanderer to you.
Before we leave, I decide what color shirt we will wear each day. I then coordinate each persons outfits for the whole trip. (Yes, annoying, but it saves time later and also avoids red shorts with an orange shirt. LOL) Then I put all the clothes for each person for each day in separate plastic bags (I save the ones from the grocery store), remembering to add underwear, socks, etc. Then I pack each persons bags in their individual suitcase, with the top bag containing their pjs. The first night, they take off their travel clothes, put on their pjs, and put the dirty clothes in the empty bag. The next morning, i tell them the color ofthe day, they find that bag, get dressed, and put their pj's in that bag for that night. Quick and easy, which makes my vacation more relaxed.
Also, before you head out for the park each day, take individual pictures of each child. If for some reason the child needs to be found, you have a picture of how the child was dressed that day.

There is a small community of Amish in the Sarasota area. They live in a neigborhood called Pinecraft and there are about 3000 Amish and Menonite that live there. Apparently it serves as a winter vacation spot for many Amish/Menonite from Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. There is the Yoder's retaurant in Sarasota and at least one (I want to say two but don't quote me on it) Miller's restaurants in the Bradenton area. There is also a furniture store in Sarasota run by the Amish in Sarasota with custom made furniture. They have the furniture made in Ohio and shipped down here. I bought my bed from there made from solid oak which is incredibly well made and just beautiful.
On another note, I went on a long weekend trip to Charm right there near where you were. I remember eating dinner at an Amish families house one evening while I was there and the food was wonderful! The most memorable thing I remember was the dessert...apple pie. YUM!
I grew up in Cleveland (I now live in Florida) and love watching the Christmas Story every year at Christmas time. I brings back so many memories of how Cleveland looked when I was growing up. I always loved going downtown and looking in the windows at Higbee's which they always decorated just like in the movies and going in to the store where they had what they called "The Twigbees Shop" where children could go Christmas shopping for their parents, siblings, etc. I still wish they had that.
I am glad that the Christmas Story house was opened. I am sure it is an economic boost to that neighborhood. Maybe now they can get some investors into that neighborhood and start rebuilding it in some way.

I haven't been on in a couple of weeks...between Christmas break and spending quality time with the family (including my beautiful nieces and nephews which was the best part of all!). I will definitely post more here...I have missed this crazy, lovely place!

Neat! My thesis focused on the assimilation efforts (through education) and the Carlisle Indian School. I first got interested in Native American studies after learning about the Trail of Tears on my own... it makes me sad that this is not taught in all school districts and most Americans do not know about the extreme assimilation many Native American children and adults went through. I would love to teach on or near a reserve for a year or two!

Do we have a definite schedule for the weekend yet? Can't wait to get there! ;D
