  1. There goes our fun... Often, we get to the Outpost and agree that we are getting on the next park bus. Settles too much thinking and disagreeing for a group of ten. Plus, it's random...
  2. I'll be there! I'll be "running" my first 10K. My sister and I have been training (couch to 10K) since mid-July. I've mastered "shuffling" a distance of almost 5 miles so far. My daughter and son will also be running the 10K. Of course, they have youth on their side... Still waiting to experience that runner's high everyone keeps talking about. :/
  3. My mom and dad had a handicap accessible cabin for our June trip. If your mom needs a scooter or has difficulty with stairs, this is a great option. As for distance from camping loops, my hubby and I tented it in a nearby loop and walked over to my parent's cabin for coffee each morning. My mom really enjoyed being right next to the swimming pool too. If I can rummage up photos, I'll post them.
  4. Jester is as much a blessing for us as we are to him. :). Nothing beats the love of a furry family member.
  5. We were just notified of a donation....Thanks so much, Mo, for helping out! :)
  6. Glad to hear this crazy plan works! I haven't seen a shred of weight leave me yet, but I am feeling better about my cardio. 150 pounds is amazing!! I am excited to hear I could see weight loss too. Maybe, a half marathon isn't too far fetched after this... Hmmm.... :yay:
  7. Going big!! In March of this year, I decided I was tired of being overweight and unhealthy and decided it was time to get fit and get healthy. I started searching for the biggest motivator I could think of...and, of course, This was a no-brainer! On January 10, 2014, I (along with my sister and kids) will be running the Disney World 10 K for the ASPCA. This is our dog, Jester. He is a rescue. He was used as a bait dog up until two years of age. Thanks to the efforts of organizations such as the ASPCA, Jester's life was saved, and we were fortunate enough to adopt him. Jester h
  8. Our spinach, basil, and cilantro taste yummy...way superior to store bought. Lettuce? Well, it's lettuce. Don't notice a huge difference in taste, but the freshness is certainly better. :)
  9. Garden is looking great! Stay tuned for tomato plant updates....
  10. For each harvest, we have fed a family of five enough for a side salad at dinner. :)
  11. Very tasty! Just added a bit of balsamic dressing and dried cherries....and wallah!
  12. Snow Day Salad...courtesy of our basement garden! Hydroponic Garden Harvest - Winter 2013 Hearty tomato plants look promising for future salads... :)
  13. Dearest Living with the Land Pals and Green Thumbs, When do you think we could start harvesting the lettuce? How big should it be? Where do we clip, pick, break it so that it grows again?
  14. Ooooo! Now you're talking! If this new gardening system is a success, I shared a picture of the hydro set up I want for strawberries next... Sorry, though, I have to draw the line at a pig farm in the basement...
  15. Look at how healthy the roots are! :yay: (This is our spinach)
  16. Thanks everyone! I guess this is the best place to start. :)
  17. My DH and I have only done the boat ride. Absolutely will do the tour in June.
  18. Kadancer, my DH suggests trying a small scale model with a Home Depot bucket. He also said to visit your local hydroponic store for support. Online searches will have endless info too. Let us know if your son tries it...
  19. We live in Michigan and our basement is around 60-65. The light provides extra heat. As long as the plants get water, nutrients and light, your good. We even have a fan on a timer to "cool" things off from time to time... Remember, lettuce loves cooler temps too!
  20. Watching my DH build it was EASY . My DH building it for the first time was pretty much trial and error. If we get great results, I'll be sure and post as much detail about its construction as I can. (the napkin with the sketches and doodling will need more detail) It IS very rewarding and certainly a great project for you son.
