We won't be making the trip this time.  My son is graduation college - he was supposed to Graduate March, but the ceremony was postponed due to Covid - so it will be happening now in, September.  Sorry to miss it... hopefully next year.

Enjoy that graduation!  I will miss you guys.

Seeing reports of cancellations for the first week of June now. Nothing official to travel agents that I have seen yet. But several other agents are seeing emails that clients have forwarded to them.

I had June 1 reservations that I never intended to use once this CV thing broke out.  I just got confirm of my cancellation.

If things are open we have a reservation to check into the Fort July 14. I have every intention of doing so. If all we do is the campground that's fine. I am hoping to do parks just because my brain mentally needs to change gears with how this year has gone for us.

We have fort reservations for June 19th. I'm going even if the parks are not open

I would go and just hang out at The Fort for sure if I were you.

  4. Thanks to Jason!  I enjoyed the video conference last night.  I am up for next week if you guys are.  Here are a few ideas we might want to discuss...

    1.  When was your first trip to Disney World?

    2.  When is your next trip, hopefully, to The Fort?

    3. What is your favorite memory of The Fort or Disney World?

What are some of your ideas to discuss?

I was curious about something regarding these AP prices, so I dug back into the DIT Vaults to see how much AP prices have increased during the last Decade of a Million Schemes.

The last time I purchased AP's was in 2009, exactly 10 years ago.  I paid $469 per AP that year.  Taking that $469 and running it through the US Bureau of Labor Statistics Inflation Calculator, results in an Inflation-Adjusted price of $557.

The equivalent non-FL Resident AP today, the Platinum Pass, is $1,119.

So, even accounting for inflation, the price of a WDW Annual Pass has more than doubled in the last 10 years.

When I planned my family's last trip to the Fort late last year, I began really thinking about the ever increasing prices.  I thought about it when I priced out 1 day MK tickets that cost more than an entire season pass at other theme parks.  I certainly thought about it when I booked the Hoop De Doo and paid more on one meal than some families spend on a month of groceries.  Don't misread me...I'm not an anti-capitalist.  Disney is free to charge what the market will bear, and I support that.  But I have stopped viewing the world through Mickey shaped glasses.  For me, I'm out.  Even the thought of booking a Disney vacation right now makes me a bit queasy, like I'm willingly letting someone take advantage of me.

I guess our last trip to the Fort, was our last trip to the Fort.

Well, I think DIT meant it.  Word is he sold his camper too.  I wonder if Disney will reduce pricing now that not many can afford these prices and many will be too afraid to go into a crowded park?

I am holding onto my hope for my December vacation.  I'm betting the parks will be open again, the question is will my Disney fund remain intact through all this.

I think a lot of people are holding onto hopes for December.  I have been checking for a campsite from the 26th to the 3rd almost daily for a year now and it is booked up still.  I really hope no one has to drop a site over this pandemic.  I do hope Disney just hasn’t released all the sites for those dates yet.  Like most people,  I also hope I will be financially able to do it if they do have sites.
