  1. The Christmas season in this household actually begins on Oct 22th because that's when the "Family Holiday Celebration" envelope arrived in the mail.

    What is that you ask?

It's the Christmas present that WDW CMs receive every year. It's actually a pretty good present if you're a WDW or Disney fan.

The best part are the three dining coupons. Although we get discounts at select restaurants year round, the coupons give CMs more locations.

Among many other things are 40% merchandise discounts. In my case it's not that big a deal because I get almost the same discount year round due to my length of service.

All and all, not bad, but like just about everything at WDW, not as good as it was 18 years ago.

  2. And it still shows Tents ok on the TA side of things for Premium sites.

The TA, MDE, and the HUB don't always agree.

I wonder if that info on the Hub has changed fairly recently?

It was asked on Voldy not that long ago and Rusty Scupper said it had changed. As he works in the Front Office, he should know.

I looked it up then and there it was.

I don't want to be one of "those" people as my daughter says.

Hey, Miss Missy, didn't you read what I said, just do it. Don't make me deflate your inflatables.

  3. Am I going to get shouted at by Fort Rangers if I place my tent on the ground area (if possible) as opposed to the concrete area?  I am in a premium and if given the opportunity, I would prefer to place the tent on the ground.  Just curious.

Ahh, the age old question of where does a site actual end? Is it just the area that is paved or has coquina on it, or does it include any of the surrounding ground?

What I would do is put the tent wherever you want it and let the wannabe Barney Fife tell you to move it because as you've read and seen visual proof, people put tents anywhere and everywhere they want without any repercussions.

However, if you're curious and want to know what the policy actually is, which is yet another policy that is probably selectively enforced, is that you can have an RV but no tent. Its from the Fort's info pages on the internal website, "The Hub".

I don't see where it says that you can't put a tent on the ground around the site, just that you can't put it on the site itself, which you don't want to do anyway.

Just do it. If you're harassed by Barney, tell them you're a friend of Jose Mola, the GM, or as his friends call him Joey, and that he said it's ok.

  4. I did think there were more CM fiends than just you two

The most there has been is four.

Maybe I keep hearing "I wish or want to work at WDW"  and brain took that and messed with it.

There are a lot of those that wish, but not that many that do.

I learned something new, we have always been careful to keep to the number on the pass.

As djsamuel said, as long as you don't go overboard, it's not a problem if you have more than number on the Main gate pass.

  5. Lou,

You are still correct, since in terms of the dining discount, the cast member MUST be present.  While I can use my silver pass (as the husband of a CM) to get the merchandise discounts, I cannot get a dining discount. My wife must be there and show her ID, not silver pass.

I didn't even think of that as it applies to the dining discount, but you're right.

I was more addressing Gretchen's comment about there being more CM Fiends and that I didn't know who they were.

It's now just Dave Devores and myself.

  6. How is Shula's compared to Yachtsman?  Kenny wanted a change this time, but Yachtsman is my favorite.

I keep saying that I have to try Shula's, but then it dawns on me that I won't get 50% off and for some reason the desire fades away

    1st dinner- outstanding

    2nd dinner- disappointing

    Lunch- excellent

    Is that a Shula's review?

Lou quoting Fonzie.  My life is complete.

I was less than 10 years old, but I can certainly remember the cars, the houses, the clothes, and the music.

  7. Really? Sil and I quite enjoy it. We have been to either Lunch, Dinner, or a combination of the two almost every trip since it opened.

It's not that I didn't enjoy it, but after having experienced the atmosphere once, in order for me to go back to any restaurant at WDW, the food and the service have to be memorable and neither one was. Not that it was bad, but it wasn't great.

I no longer need the Disney atmosphere, I get quite enough. I now want the food to be the main attraction.

Two of my favorite places to eat at WDW either have a hokie or generic atmosphere. They're nothing to write home about, but the food is good.

  8. Walked past your camper this weekend.

Looped by Nacole's site with the same result.

CMs get 20% off at participating restaurants, subject to block-out dates, but they also get a 40% discount at eight restaurants.

In addition, CMs get a holiday package which among other things, includes 3 dining coupons. One each with 30, 40,and 50% off.

The tip which is based on the full price is automatically added to the check.
