  1. Enjoying, as always! We're trying to clear a weekend on the schedule to make a similar run before school's out. Come join us by the frontyard campfire one of these weekends!
  2. Every trip we make, a visit to Cooke's of Dublin is required. A basket of the big fresh chips, malt vinegar, and curry sauce...and Guinness (Smithwicks if it's a real hot day.) Enjoy, repeat. I could do that all day...and have!
  3. From researching the music played at the Fort, I've gotten really into Bluegrass and Appalachian String Music, and actually all sorts of Americana music.
  4. Loopng, fishing, (legally covered) fire, and beer.
  5. Interesting thought Dave! That just made me recall our honeymoon in 2000. We decided that we weren't going to be concerned with "getting it all in" and just meandered. We went to Epcot on Day 1. Walked in, pretty much went straight to World Showcase and stayed in World Showcase until after the fireworks. That was the year that they had the Millenium Village set up. We spent all day eating, drinking, and shopping around the world...dropped almost a grand, never rode a ride, still one of our greatest Disney days.
  6. I've been around, checking things out pretty much daily, lots of helping the kids with homework, and battling the flu. Did some flooring upgrades in the house...just that type of stuff.!
  7. Nice shootin' Tex! Stef, really enjoyed it!
  8. Who was that? I know it's not Lou, he doesn't read these things! I'm hoping around Halloween, unfortunately, it falls on a wednesday this year. That would be cool, a small bluegrass group playing on the TE porch. I should be doing a fire in the pit this weekend, just look for the smoke! Thanks! Sorry I missed you. One of these days. Not gonna make SM, I know that for sure. I'm sure it'll be amazing and looking forward to the report! I spoke to him at lunch and imparted that thought, he said "Eveyone enjoys a good BM, so should my posts!"
  9. Nice, the Bass Master checks in. He's like the Loch Ness monster of the internet! Totally illusive!
  10. Day Four: Music: Black Sabbath Drink: Diet Coke Smell: Bacon and Maple Syrup Monday morning blues. Yes and no… There was a time when I used to get really sad leaving Disney property. I think it was because there was all this fun and happiness, and I was heading back to my life, which offered a lot less sizzle than a day at a theme park. But that all changed with fatherhood. Suddenly, my happiness was still in the truck with me! Now, we leave, with the excitement of planning our next adventure! So, we wake up, tumble out of the camper, one every few minutes. The kids playing in the dirt with th
  11. Thanks. We'll have to go again then! BTW, thanks for posting the Kona photo. I'm starting to make a chart for the next trip. I'm figuring two updates per day camped times number of days out there, should net a decent collection! Thanks TCD, that was as cool a moment as it gets. He's a pain in the ass, but a good, loving boy. He makes me proud. I know it's working when we get school projects, stories, and pictures revolving around camping. My friends all think we're nuts... I'm probably inclined to agree..but, What the Fort? They're will be more! Your TR is great. I'm honored to have been me
  12. This is a good one! I love that a lot of trip reports are capturing photos of really absurd things, like the duct tape. Classic!
  13. Day Three continued: Music: Paul McCarrtney, Steve Miller, Wilco Drink: Back to the Magic Hat #9, Water Smell: Horses and Smoke Last we heard, the troupe was preparing to get moving into the afternoon and evening portion of Sunday. We generally get two carts, one for Ben and one for me. Mine is the sight-seeing, looping, and goofing off cart, whereas his is locked and loaded for fishing. It was starting to cool off again….cool off...It was freaking freezing again! Ben, his son, and his moustache decided one last round of fishing for the trip would set him just right, the two of them chortled a
  14. I was looking for a quantifiable measure of cool, and I'm a child of the 70's.
  15. A-ha! There is a weird quirk on this forum, sometimes, when you type "pictures of", it automatically adds "kitties", I had to go back and edit a post of few days ago, thinking "why did I type that?" I have no cats, but now I see it happens to others occasionally, Snarky tosses it in like a grenade. Too weird.
  16. Day Three: Music: Allman Brothers, Steely Dan, Glen Campbell Drink: Kona Pipeline, Diet Dr. Pepper, Water Smell: Day 3 in a popup camper with 3 adults and 4 kids…scratch and sniff Sunday, Bloody Sunday. You know that moment when you’re sleeping on the tile floor, nuzzled up to the porcelain in a public restroom, praying for God’s mercy on your soul if you can just stop vomiting. One of those doozies, where you would accept a public beheading because it would stop the throbbing…wasn’t me this Sunday morning! I drank a ton of water, ate a third of a jar of Tums, and had the heaters pointed at th
  17. Dole Whip Wars! Hosted by Tony Little....You can do iiiitttt!!!! Bet there's a viewing audience for it!
  18. Wow, slammed for my whip skills. Is the aim for height, girth, or sheer enormity. Keep in mind I could barely feel because of the temperature of my bone marrow, and my swirling skills were impeded by Uncle Ben's perverted rice juice. I tried to pay with my library card. Rays photo was at fanfest last year, my son and I watch a lot of Rays, and we also support the Dunedin Blue Jays. I'm hoping for a Brady thumping this weekend, while he's very good, a lot has to be said for the system they have up there, otherwise Matt Cassell would still be slicing roast beef at the deli instead of the juicy c
  19. Thanks, was a great evening! Will be writing the sunday portion here shortly. Ben is now a fiend, goes by the handle BassMaster. Thanks, appreciate your checking it out! Sorry, family in from NY, had to visit! Yes, very airport, escalators, counters, and there were people crashed in the lobby watching CNN. Thanks on the whip, you'll see below how it comes under scrutiny from those more experienced! I'm a big Kirin Ichiban fan too, and the price is right too, it's dropped since it first came out. I used to love a Japanese beer called Asahi Black. They have the lager everywhere, but the bla
  20. Day Two continued: Music: Grateful Dead, Loggins & Messina, Blind Faith, more Bela Fleck Drink: Sake Smell: Um…well…we’ll get back to you Saturday evening approached, I had a plan…an adventure planned right out of the fingertips of the fiends found herein…on this site…ya’ know…you guys! So as last reported, we nibbled on some white chicken chili, got ready for mid-afternoon showers and started to layout our plans for the evening. I snapped a photo of MetalWife complete with bad-hair-day babooshka, which she was none too pleased with, so of course I will take this opportunity to post it on
  21. Ah-Ha! Makes sense! Sorry (hangs head in embarrassed shame!).
  22. Indeed! Still 2 more mornings left! Thanks! I'm so pleased with how they would rather enjoy the Fort and camping activities, than some of the other options we can offer. They will bring these memories forward for decades! Fishing is a huge part of why we go there now, I hadn't really thought about it much until Ben started going with us! His intentions are purely for bonding with his son, as the chaos of being home can often make that difficult for anyone...work, school, sports, clubs...life. We go there for pure escape! Yes, Ben has "Thee" mustache. I told him 2 decades ago...keep it, they
  23. Day Two: Music: Dan Fogelberg, Fleetwood Mac, Bela Fleck, Old Crow Medicine Show Drink: Guinness Smell: Fish, Fire, and Krautenbeanz Afterburn I learned a magic trick! I can turn my camper into Arizona with a flick of the switch. Last year over New Year’s tip we experienced some cold nights, only to realize that the heat strip in the camper had gone out, so we found a Camping World in Kissimmee and got these little ceramic heaters. We set ‘em up just before everyone retired for the evening, and the camper was nice and toasty… However, when I awoke I had that splitting headache you get when ev
  24. Thanks for joining in Bob! Wow, late night 'eh? Thanks! My kids are now hooked on checkers, I just can't get them to set up the right way. The two little ones insist that the black goes on the black squares, and red on red. And as a matter of convencience from how they're seated, the also setup the board diamond shaped. They're enjoying it...who am I to say? Next segment is written, I just have to review with fresh eyes when I get home. Should be posted tonight.
