  1. I was wondering why only some of them had it on top. The old carts are 3 digit numbers like 823, but the new ones with the lights are 4 digits, seem to fall in the 4200-4300 range...and still a whopping 10 mph!
  2. And what the heck is up with the chanting? I didn't know if I should get on Dumbo or go for the penalty kick!
  3. We had one get into the screen room. Since we were just across the loop from you, who knows, could be the same guy. He got into our potato chips, which I didn't notice until after eating half the bag, and discovered the hole. I probably have cooties now.
  4. On sunday, I had to walk through that all the way to the far end of the lot from the 'sandbox', basically going diagonally across the entire lot to get to my rig. I hit the newly sealed (seared really!) part and damn near melted a new flip-flop and almost singed a lung. God bless the souls that have to do that work in July.
  5. I see a dangerous trend here! My wife is one of those NYRicans too. MetalWife and Lorna swapped Brooklyn stories, and before I knew it, the letter R evaporated right out of the 1700 loop.
  6. Lou needs a "You kids get off my lawn" t-shirt.
  7. Thank you all for your kind words. She was a great dog. We will miss her. The toughest part was coming home to an empty house, or mistaking a pair of dark shoes by the door as her. But, she's in no more pain.
  8. Dear friend, thank you for your years of loyalty and companionship. Thank you for helping us raise the kids. Thank you for loving us unconditionally, thank you for choosing us to spend your life with. You will be missed… Pepper O’Brien 8/6/98-6/28/12. Rest easy puppy girl.
  9. What if they're tent campers? Is proper etiquette to knock on the flap or just stand outside until they wake up? That would startle the ish out of me! That's one of the reasons I like a popup, I have a door, a place for new friends to knock, something to slam when my kids drive me nuts, and a prime source of snake repellent!
  10. You know how when you were young, and you start dating someone new, and you hear all the stories about the crazy ex-boyfriend/girlfriend that still snoops and awkwardly drives past the house, especially when you're there visiting... sounds a little bit like that! I'm new since the flush, so I'm curious, do we have proper nomenclature for pre and post flush fiends? All I request is it's something cooler and more original than "newbie" or "noob"!
  11. As you know, we bring a variety (and quantity), and you are always welcome to sample new brews with us! BTW, we need to start a beer blog/thread, I have a bunch to upload and discuss. I take pictures of all my new beer tastings! Yes, we are very tribal about our fire, regardless of outside temp. Campfire smoke is a food group.
  12. I agree, if you have a sign out, that means you're looking for your people! We pack 7 into a popup, so we are outside by default! Feel free to stop by and say hello, if you do not see anyone outside, you will also see the carts are gone, if it's evening, come enjoy the fire!
  13. Nicely done! My wife just took they kids on a day trip to Anna Maria Island last week, they fell in love with it. As the crow flies, it's only 4-5 miles south of Ft. Desoto park, on the other side of Egmont Key, but it's a 45-60 mimute drive. Glad you were able to get the family home safely, that's just not right. Great photos and commentary. I'm looking forward to the next one!
  14. All I could think of was the Bishop in Caddyshack. "Rat Farts!" Then he get's struck by lightning as Bill Murray drops his golf bag and scurries away!
  15. Duane, there's a lot to be said about your comment. It does create an authenticity and experience. They do that at Epcot and Kimono's, why not at Poly? I was at a Japanese Steakhouse in Long Island once and the chef that was twirling the knife and throwing shrimp tails into his hat and pocket, and making the volcano out of onion, did a great job. He was from El Salvador, the food tasted just like the Japanese guy at the next table makes it, but the spanish accent was almost awkward. I sat in those same seats at Poly in January, holy extra zeros on the bill. Cost more than the site at the Fort.
  16. We did the Manatee tour last father's day, was outstanding. We plan on heading up that way soon. Will certainly contact you. That's funny, I too am a 1983 NY transplant, and my mother wants to know how I ended up with a big pickup truck, a favorite Nascar driver, and lots of camo. I keep telling her that camping keeps me close to the folks that are truly the salt of the earth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GZYKOS5JaE&feature=related
  17. Ya' know? This is now a couple TR's into the TCD canon that does not include photos of a popup camper. And this one without the Fort at all. One might get the impression that you're being seduced by the dark side. Hotels and day trips...next thing we'll hear about is sunburn, chicken from Medieval Times, and shopping for t-shirts on I-drive. (In Obi-Wan voice) Dude, use the Fort! As always, I enjoy you're writing and photos. BTW, consider the plight of the poor Rastas, they believe the Second Coming occurred already, and thought the end of the world would be "when the two 7's clash" which they
  18. Really enjoyed that one! The heat is on now, I'll have to step up my next TR for the July 4th trip! I didn't realize you were so close, we're trying to put together a weekend up in Chazz, any thoughts about the CG?
  19. I feel like I'm in early too...new ground for me!
  20. Only took me a dozen or so pages to get in here! Really enjoying this! I always wonder why they give me one for each of my youngest kids! I can't envision a scenario that my 5yo would leave the grounds or go to a comfort station, or charge a drink at Trail's End without my wife or I in proximity, with our own card. I know the kid's cards have no charging option, but it's inherently dangerous to issue us 7 cards at check-in, when my wife is the only one in the group with any measure of responsibility. Mark was the one that chased me down on the Segway last year...took him half the Fort to do i
  21. I recently tried the Double Dead Guy Ale, like Genia said, it was nice but pricey.
  22. I'm the other guy that hasn't seen Avengers yet. Pretty sure my last trip to a theater involved Dances With Wolves. As far as the girl in the gold outfit and some of the other shots of random guests of questionable taste and/or self image... My mom always said "Just because they make it in your size, doesn't mean you have to wear it!" I grew up a Star Wars fan, collected a little bit, but not quite to 'geek' status, actually, I may have been before that and it just didn't take with the SW bit. I do think the Wookie family portrait is classic! I always giggle at Watto, his accent sounds just li
  23. We went to Silver River SP last Oct with our Popup group for a rally. What a great CG! It's Silver River State Park and it's on the Silver River, which has the Silver Springs...something like that, but any combination of words will get you there. Great "Old Florida" museum on premises, lotsa 60's TV/movies filmed there. Great trails too, kids loved it. The site and bathouse look just like the photos above. The cabins are like full size houses. LL is next on our list for a weekend. We just like to setup and get the kids away and let them play with dirt and dead snakes for a couple of days. I ho
