1600 & 1700 loops
bigdisneydaddy replied to Roller ... aka Ed's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
We were in 1710 at Christmas and loved it, absolutely the perfect site for us this trip. We had enough room for our trailer and truck and a nice sand pad at the rear for the tent our oldest son and GF use. -

Cooking fish at your campsite?
bigdisneydaddy replied to Just Whipperwhirl's topic in Fishing/Boating at the Fort and Beyond
Last year we got some really nice catfish filets and fried them in Zatarains southern style cornmeal. The fish was very fresh and it was a spicy but light flavor. This year when we went to Publix the catfish did not look fresh so I passed on it. I have a friend up here in MI that fishes a lot and he taught me how to deep fry fish, he catches mostly Walleye, if you havent had Walleye, its a very mild, firm texture fish. I enjoy it because I am allergic to some seafood so I avoid salt water fish. He cuts the filets into smaller pieces (double the size of a McNugget) and fries them in very hot o -

We stayed a couple nights in Bridge bay campground inside Yellowstone and 5 days at Grizzly in West Yellowstone (just outside of the park) We dry camped at bridge bay and enjoyed being right in the middle of everything. Grizzly is in a small town and is one of the nicer campgrounds we have stayed at, all the amenities except for a pool. Make sure you stop in Cody at the Buffalo bill museum and either buy bear spray for your time in the park or carry a firearm. I have lots of pics on my FB account. PM me and I will friend you so that you can see them.

We managed a walk up during our last visit and ended up sitting on the rail watching the boats go by. It was every bit as fun as I had hoped, we did miss one of the kids because he didnt want to go to Epcot that day, would have been nice to have everyone together. Yes it was expensive and it was a little crowded but I would go again.

Roaring Forks at Wilderness Lodge
bigdisneydaddy replied to stefa70's topic in Dining Reviews and Information
We stopped there for lunch during our Jan visit and wasnt real impressed. The line took forever to move and there didnt seem to be much flow in the prep area at the grill, it just took a lot longer than it should to plate up cheeseburgers and pizza. I think I am spoiled by eating my own food at the trailer. I dont have a lot of tolerance for overpriced mediocre food. Now.... WCC is whole other story, we love that place ! -
