There have been bear sightings at the Fort from time to time.

    I still doubt this.

There have allegedly been sightings at the Fort.  When that happens, a form letter gets posted on the Comfort Station bulletin boards, like this:

In this day an age, if there was actually a bear at the Fort, I would expect to see some photos of it.

We saw some bears near the Fort once, and I was sure to get a photo:

  2. I went from dual wheels to single wheels and back to dual wheels, the stability of the ride and the increased weight capacity and safety of dual wheels can not compare to SRW trucks. It is a little more problem parking, but after you get use to the width, does not really cause any worries. For a 5th wheel, I would not even consider SRWs, that tongue weight will be more than most imagine, I think the last 5th wheel was 1700 lbs tongue weight, but could have been different.

  3. 2001 is in sight of comfort station and is backed up to a stream with no one close to you, we were just in 2002 and that site is just around a curve in the road. No one is walking through or close to your site because of the location and is far enough away from the bus stop that the buses do not brother you, but is close enough to walk to bus with no problem. We decided the first 2 sites in 2000 loop are the best we have ever been in.

  4. Take a few minutes to walk through the gardens, it will give you an idea of how Cypress Gardens used to be and is a very pretty area to see. I haven't been in several years, bu my wife and GKs go several times a year. It is just about 20 miles from us. I enjoy the island in the sky ride there, gives a very good view of surrounding area.

  5. Maybe they just had  magical day with pixie dust sprinkled on it. Something sure seems a little odd about it, I have been in several hurricanes and never seen one with no damage to the buildings, even the one designed to stand hurricane force winds usually get a little damage.

Or maybe it wasn't a Category 4, and the media exaggerated the severity of the storm for some reason?

Don`t know, it messed up Haiti and Saint Augustine real good, a well as North Carolina. We didn`t get much here though.

  7. I agree with TCD, the buildings look like old shacks, must be built better than they look. I thought a good wind of hurricane force would level most of them. The designers did a real good job of making them just look old and falling in, but with a solid build.
