  1. Oh I will. We have several more National Parks to hit after we leave Disneyland in a couple of days. Glad you are enjoying. It's been a year for us but we can not wait to get back. Believe it or not this is only the end of the first of 3 weeks. We have several more national parks and monuments to see before this trip is over. It is really nice Dave. Similar to Disney World but different enough to be well worth the trip out there. And to see the actual attractions that Walt worked on is cool as well.
  2. Moving on to Tomorrowland and the Hub. While I was in line for Star Tours fastpasses Silvia went to take pictures. Sleeping Beauty is a much smaller castle. The Matterhorn overshadows it. The statues in the hub. And the big cheese's themselves. A look back down Main St. A look towards Tomorrowland. One of the Main St. Vehicles. Looking towards Frontierland towards Adventureland The Matterhorn in the distance Another Main St Vehicle. Towards the plaza restaurant. In front of the castle Picture limit.
  3. Okay let's try this again. I loaded all of our first day at Disneyland pictures. Bob should be happy as I think there will be more pics than words for a little while here. Some of these may duplicate the previous posting and for that I apologize. Arriving at Disneyland Over the tunnel and in the tunnel Entering the town square. Deliberate duplicate as I love to see my wife's smile. Fire house with Walt's apartment over it. On the doors to the area with the Main St. vehicles. The parades work a little different at Disneyland. They don't have the space to run in a loop going th
  4. Ok so after further checking there are a lot of Disneyland Pictures I don't have loaded. I think this may take a couple of hours to get them online. I will hopefully return with more later tonight. The album's we printed were for everyone's enjoyment and let's just say that some of Silvia's family are not as into Disney as we are.
  5. Okay. Time to get up and head over to Disneyland. According to the time stamp on the first picture we were in line and ready to head in by 7:45 am. There is no fun opening show like in Disney World. Just a voice over that repeatedly reminds people not to run . We headed straight to guest services to get our first visit pins and the lady there took a picture for us. We also had joined a photopass share so we have some pictures from that as well that I will share probably in a group at the end of the Disney report. Here we go. Feel free to ask questions if I forget to point something out on the
  6. Okay sorry guys. I guess I am just excited reliving the trip and more importantly I know that if I slow down to much I will start to forget to post the rest. I hope everyone caught there breath and used the bathroom cause in a couple of minutes we are heading to Disneyland!
  7. I am going to throw out a wild shot in the dark on the yellow tent. Maybe another baby care center. Like the one next to Crystal Palace. Probably not though since it would make sense to put a baby and first aid place next to the biggest little kids play area. Just a thought though. And the wifi is supposed to be so the smartphone users can actually use the new disney app with their next gen fast pass system. Let's see how I do.
  8. Unfortunately you will have to wait till this afternoon. Silly work thinks I should be fixing things. Don't they know there are people waiting on this trip report!
  9. After leaving the mission we headed over to La Jolla Cove to do some swimming. Okay so Sil did some swimming I sat on the beach and took some pictures. I am not a big beach person and it was crowded that day. I just sat and read my book. The beach is down on the right. Down on the beach. Lots of seals and birds over on the rocks. I have been threatened upon pain of death or worse if I post a pic of Silvia in her bathing suit so we will move on. We spent a couple of hours at the beach and then packed up and headed north. We were heading towards the mecca of all things Disney parks. Di
  10. Okay time for me to hit Google. You pulled a name I have never heard of before. I am usually a pretty good fount of nearly useless information but this time you got me.
  11. The next morning we loaded the car back up and headed out for some history. We like to visit museums and other things that are significant to a places history. This morning we went to the first Spanish mission opened in California. Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala'. We were a little early for opening so we spent some time taking pictures of the grounds outside. Once inside we paid for our photo copied map and went on our way. The map actually has some information in it and each area has displays and plaques telling about what you are seeing. I think It was $10 a person to go in. This
  12. Our next stop after leaving the zoo was a trip over to Coronado Island. I wanted to get Silvia over to the pacific and our beach day was the next day so I popped over. I also wanted to show her some thing over there. Here's the beach A very happy Silvia. Is that the Grand Floridian? Nope that's the Hotel del Coronado which the Grand Floridian was modeled after. Very pretty to look at and about the same price to stay at. Which is why we are in a Comfort Inn and not here. After that we headed back to the hotel to clean up a little and get ready to go to dinner. Silvia loved the palm trees
  13. So it is now day 5 of our Road trip and we wake up in San Diego. We had a couple of things to do today and we were looking forward to them. First up was the San Diego Zoo. My wife thought I was crazy when I told her we would need a full day to cover this. We came close we hit about 85%. That will probably take a few posts of pictures so I will pick up the story in a later post. For now enjoy. Just thought I should elaborate a little more on the Zoo for everyone. It really is huge and is built on the side of a canyon with terraced levels. you can walk around the zoo to your hearts content and t
  14. Thanks! Luckily Disneyland was not closed when we got there or I would have bought a real gun I think. Glad you are enjoying. I will admit that I have a piece of petrified wood on my entertainment center right now. I bought it at the unofficial gift center right outside that gets it from legal sources in other parts of the country. We will have to wait till later in the trip to see if I remain a fine upstanding citizen. and I can't wait until I can get back there. I would have loved to have had a MH but the rental was just not in the budget. The one downside to Bottomless Lakes is the bu
  15. Absolutely. While we had a nice point and shoot and I do pretty well taking pictures, there is nothing that can capture the images as they truly are when you are standing there. It's one of those things that engages so many senses at once that a picture can not do.
  16. I interrupt this trip report for some totally awesome news. I just got a phone call that I had one a contest. Unfortunately it was a not a trip to Disney but it was pretty cool. I had one a free night at Mohegan Sun Casino. My wife and I love to go there for dinner and she has always wanted to stay there but I have trouble paying around $200 for a night in a hotel 30 minutes from my house. She is so excited right now. I am glad I entered and won so she can scratch this off her bucket list.
  17. Continuing on from the National Park we again turned west. We were going to go back down through Arizona cutting through Sedona and then turning west again on Interstate 5. Heading down the road. Driving down into the valley where Sedona is. The rock formations in Sedona are amazing and in real life the red is very vibrant. The camera just can't capture it. We didnt get any shots of downtown Sedona as we were just passing through. We had reservations for the next couple of nights made and really wanted to get there that day. One last shot on the way out of Sedona. When we stop
  18. It was a little hazy due to the heat but the picture look nice. Nothing compared to the view in person though.
  19. Continuing in the Petrified Forest. A close up. This was a tree that was buried in the ground. Over time erosion exposed it and left it a bridge. In the earlier days of the park service the reinforced it with concrete. Now the policy would be to left it as found and let nature takes its course. Continuing to another part of the park. The train tracks run through a part of the park. And at a certain point Rt. 66 ran through it as well. The have placed a marker where that was and left certain things in place to illustrate its location. You can see the telephone poles on the
  20. Thanks for joining us. Tenting was really the only way we could afford this trip. And in our minds it was part of the experience so many others had when cars first became affordable and the road trip began.
  21. Ok so when we left off we had made an unscheduled stop at Lyman Lake. It was a beautiful place but we had a date with our first National Park of the trip. So we packed up and headed out around 7 a.m. One thing I have found especially in the wide open campgrounds is that once the sun comes up, its pretty much to bright in the tent to sleep much more. We got on the road and continued north in Arizona until we finally reached our destination. The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park. This is one of the lesser known national parks but it is very striking. Heading north And the roa
