I have everything set for public
  2. Darn it, all I am getting is a small box with a little x and not the photo coming in.
  3. I would love to share the pics of the huskies but how from my flickr? Just a little bit "social media" challenged here. :rofl3:
  4. Welcome, Heather! Welcome, Beth Ann! I would agree with DaveInTn, once you stay at FWC you are just ruined for staying at the hotels. Okay, if it was just for one night, yeah, maybe stay at a hotel but anything two nights and over requires a stay at the fort!
  5. I remember at a very young age being taught campground etiquette, you do not walk into someone's site without their permission. It is plain and simple, no different than if you walked into someone's house or hotel room without an invite. We have not encountered this problem while at FWC but I would be the first to address the issue with said child and then said parent. As far as kids and dogs go - when we walk our dogs I do not let strangers come up to them and pet them (particularly kids) my dogs probably would not do anything to them, they love kids but I have two huskies (65 and 72 poun
  6. We picked up a small coffee maker with a stainless pot for the RV at Bed Bath and Beyond. I think it is a Cuisinart
  7. Trying looking for LT from Tire Rack, that is where we had to get the tires we use for towing for our Tundra.
  8. We put bounce sheets under the cushions in our TT and under the mattress when it is closed and not in use and that helps with smells; I understand that it also will deter insects.
  9. Just spent the night there on our way to Augusta ga from our home in NY. I called to see if there were openings and the message said the office was closed but there were openings and to just come in to the office in the morning. The owners were wonderful, reasonable rates, clean facilities. Excellent stop!
  10. You can do this! I learned to drive our 29 ft TT after learning with our 14 ft v nose cargo trailer. Couple of things might help if you are close to the dealership they may be of assistance if you have questions about the different systems of your TT. One thing that we try to be mindful of when in tow is look around as you are going into fuel and try to pull where you can pull out with ease. Also I try to note which side of the highway your entrances are. Have a wonderful vacation
  11. Welcome to the boards. We don't full-time with our travel trailer but I have threatened to numerous times. If you haven't purchased your 5th wheel yet might I suggest that you also check out the Windjammer line of travel trailers from Forest River. They are a "light TT" line and are on a torsion flex chassis so towing them over a trailer with leaf springs is soooo much nicer. They also have models with separate bunk rooms for your son. Just a suggestion.

  13. We tow our "09 Flagstaff 29ft V-lite with our 2007 Toyota Tundra, 4 X 4 with the 5.7 lt without a problem; plenty of power for the hills. The Tundra is a four door (not crew max) and we have had our 6" 4" son in the back with two grandson's in car seats in the back seat with him and everyone fit just fine. The Tundra averages about 12-14 mpg when towing the RV (depending on how many attachments we get trying to suck off our gas ) We have an excellent Reese hitch with the anti-sway package. I will say that part of what makes the V-lite so nice to tow is the RV has the torsion-flex suspen
  14. Does anyone have any favorites in Georgia? We're moving to the Augusta area and we are really looking forward to using the TT more than the 3 - 4 months you get in upstate NY.
  15. I would check with the local campgrounds they may have their own units available. I would search the web for local campgrounds and contact them directly. They also might have small cottages/cabins to rent.
  16. We have a 29 ft Falstaff V lite and with a 2007 tundra with Reese anti sway hitch. The day we picked up the TT it was windy as s#$& and the tow was miserable. DH and DB checked out the tires closer on the Tundra and we ended up purchasing four new tires that were rated much better for towing. This took care of the handling issues for us.
  17. We postponed our anniversary visit from Jan to Sept just so we could stay at the fort. We can stay twice as long, eat better, have real coffee and all of our stuff. We did not want to try pulling the RV out of the NY snow bank in January and Dr wintertime. So come Sept we will be at the fort. Next winter the RV will not be subject to a snow bank because we are moving to GA this fall!!!!
  18. You don't have to worry about housekeeping or mouse keeping chasing you out of your room. Breakfast and coffee before dealing with the general public - priceless
  19. We had a disturbance in the first NC rest area on Route 95 northbound a couple of years ago when some guy was trying to get us to open the door at about 3 am. As far as I am concerned the RV is my residence and we are now packing. We did not have any firearm that time but my husband got up and loudly asked me where the big butcher knife was. Disturbance over. We are going to try to avoid staying in rest areas from now on.
  20. I think we have had this conversation before. Hopefully within the next year that will be changing. NY government as as whole has gone off the deep end.
  21. Deep end or not, I agree that it is so much calmer at this pool. Can't wait for Sept.
  22. Thanks for the info & photo. I see they nicely put in a big step around the edge for me to trip over; there will be no running and jumping into the pool. Well I guess I will have to suffer through it. Hey pool weather right now would be nice as I sit here typing while the sleet hits my Windows. Looking forward to spring!
