  1. Boo! I really dislike this. So, guests who enjoy Epcot late have to schlep to a bus stop and take a bus to the TTC? And, us campers get the boot? Typical. TCD
  2. After bidding adieu to my fisherman friend, I was on my way to the Settlement. Of course, I just had to stop at one of my favorite spots in the Fort. I am talking about the shore of Bay Lake where you can see the castle and Space Mountain: You can see a boat approaching in those photos. Here's a closer look. It's one of the resort boats: Turning just to the left, from that photo, check out the big heron perched right in the grass. You can see his full reflection in the calm water: From here, we continue on our way to the Settlement. I love this path. It is quiet and tranquil. It kind o
  3. That's what I figured. So, who got our bus stop? TCD
  4. Lou- Thanks for posting this. So, is this good news or bad news for Fiends? I think it's bad news. Hopefully, it's not that big a deal. The FW bus stop at Epcot was the closest one to the entry area. I have the old one marked with a red star here: So which one is the new one? Using my math powers, I would guess that it is 5 spots away from the old one. Is it still in the first group of bus stops, or have we moved over to the second group? TCD
  5. Agreed. I really do not like what is happening here. When they started using inflatable screens and playing movies at the other resorts, this is how the movie play-lists went there. Some just had the same movies each night of the week, and it repeated throughout the month. It looks like that is where the Fort has gone, too. One of the things I always liked about the Fort is that there would be variety. They played some really obscure movies every now and then. You are very perceptive. There are some River Country photos coming up. And some more machinery photos. And some po-po photos to
  6. Thanks, Norm! That almost captures the specialness of this place! TCD
  7. No I didn't notice that. The 4th of July handout said that the movie for the 2nd was "Mickey's Great Outdoors.' I think that is a short cartoon. When we stopped by later in the night, they were playing The Princess and The Frog. I am not sure what ended up playing on the 3rd. I thought it was Tangled. I never noticed the one that said Cars. TCD
  8. 1. True. 2. No, that shirt is from Seaside, Florida. That is where we used to always go for the 4th. But, we took our trip there earlier this Summer to coincide with my oldest DD's school break. Where is the Seaside Inn? TCD
  9. Good catch! That door sure is open. Maybe someone was just checking on something while they waited in line. Or, maybe, as you said, they left a trail on the way to the Fort. Great! You will have a blast! TCD
  10. We are moving right along here, aren't we? It is now Sunday morning, July 3rd. We will be on this day for a while. I have a lot of photos from Sunday. I hope you don't mind. As you may have expected, our day begins with TCD racing the sun to Bay Lake. On the way out of the 1500 loop, something catches my eye. Look, up there right above the trees, between the two signs there by the bridge: What's that? Take a closer look: A hot air balloon! Cool! What a fun way to start the day. Here's a look back at site 1501. It doesn't come with much privacy. But you can't beat the location: Hey look,
  11. Glad to hear it. I'll try to get another bunch of photos posted today. You should be good to go then. Yes. Shhhhh! How was I supposed to know they were fireworks? Who puts a dolphin on fireworks? Thanks, and there is more on the way! Thanks. It was a lot like last year. Minus you and a couple of other Fiends. Wow! That's my 4th of July shirt. My DD's hate it. So I only wear it on the 4th. How about another tease? I thought I saw a piece of construction equipment in River Country. I saw it when we were on the MK boat on Sunday night. I snapped a photo of it. Yuri showed up and went to c
  12. In my haste to get that first set of photos posted, I forgot to mention something important. That first afternoon and evening, I saw a bunch of Fiends. A bunch. Some I have met before. Others, I was meeting for the first time. Let's see if I can give a shout out to everyone I saw on Saturday: Lornaduck and her DH, Richie (he goes by a more colorful name on here); Auburn Jen and Chris, MagicBus, Stacktester, TnBob and Mrs. TnBob, Total Joker, MandM,etc. (Melissa), Hillybilly Whisperer, Devores, Keylime359, Princess Nana, TiggerinBama, and OKGirlie. Most of them have been around for a while. O
  13. OK. Let's get started. How about we start at the beginning? And, then we will get to the good stuff in due course. Our visit to the Fort began on Saturday, July 2nd, 2011. We stayed for three nights. That's about the limit for the Summer. It's hot in July. And rainy. And, we just have the TCD pop-up. It has AC, but it's no match for the summer heat. We left home at about 10:30 on Saturday morning. And arrived at the Fort at around noon. The check-in lanes were busy. This is us in line: This was the designated lane for on-line check in. Which I hadn't done. But, the helpful guard at the securi
  14. Oh no! The Thread Killer posted! Ah well . . . This was a fun thread while it lasted. J/K It's going to take more than your thread killing skills to stop this one. TCD
  15. Yep. That's true. TCD is a tease. Fireworks? No. Fireworks are not allowed at the Fort. This was a new type of mosquito repellent that we were going to give a try. It worked pretty well. But, I think it's kind of dangerous. I'm hurrying. I'm hurrying. TCD
  16. I agree with what Carol said. I have one other option for you to consider - There is a great playground at the entrance to the 1200/1300 loops. That might be something your 3 year-old would enjoy. There is also a nice playground across from the 500 loop. TCD
  17. Here it is! TCD's Flippin' Awesome July 4, 2011 Trip Report. And I have my work cut out for me. There have already been several great July 4th Trip Reports posted. And, a lot of the things I took photos of have already been seen and discussed. Not to worry. I have some unique things to share. Like scans of the official schedules for the weekend and the month; And some unique photos of things you have not yet seen (at least I haven't seen any photos of these things yet); And, you will hear about some TCD detective work which led to the uncovering of a conspiracy relating to the judging of the g
  18. I am almost ready to get started. I'll speed things up just for you! I hope your day picks up from here. We haven't had any raid yet today to the south of you. But, we are supposed to. Hello to my neighbors from NYE 2010/2011! I hope that you get that new camper in time to be back this year. I hope to be there too. I haven't had any luck with a reservation yet, though. But, there's plenty of time for that. TCD
  19. Yes. I am working on it. I just scanned a couple of documents, and I am about to upload some photos. I am still working on the title. But, I assure you it will be Flippin' Awesome! Literally. You'll see. In the meantime, have you read all of the other July 4th reports? There are some really good ones. TCD
  20. That is very insightful. You might be right about that - I have also noticed that the prices on the bread items seem to be less inflated. And, I hear you on the beer. Those prices are insane! You are welcome, and please share a photo of your spike display! You are welcome. And, the next report should be launching soon. Like today or tomorrow soon. Darn. We were neighbors. We didn't leave until the 12th. I actually noticed your round wooden sign, and I was going to stop and ask about it. Do you make these? I noticed on a previous trip that Hilda has one. Too bad I didn't stop, I wou
  21. Thanks for the link. I wonder if this it the type of thing that will get discontinued if it becomes too popular? I'll have to give it a try some time. Please do post a photo of your completed spike project. I have a few spikes myself, and would love to make a display for one. TCD
  22. Dave- Wow! Outstanding! Great photos! And witty commentary! Great job all the way around! You went so danged fast on this report, I didn't get a chance to comment, so you will get all of my comments now: 1. Too bad about your getting drenched in the rain coming and going. As you know, the TCD gang arrived on the 2nd and left on the 5th. Amazingly, we did not have a drop of rain for our whole trip. 2. Great job on getting pic's of the U-Haul and vintage campers. I missed both of those. 3. I also missed Flag Guy. Dang-it! 4. I haven't posted my 4th of July trip report yet, but I have to
  23. Great job on the photos! This little tidbit caught my eye: I'd like to hear more about this - Can you get the cheese soup to go all the time, or just during F & W? I remember that there was a booth selling cheese soup at one of the recent F & W's, but it was back by the America pavilion, and on the day we went, the weather was cool, and they ran out. Are you saying you can go in to the restaurant and get it to go? TCD
  24. I'll bet he gave you an earful. Your son is great. I heard him giving you grief about your shorts. What I can't tell is whether that comes from you or Mrs. anolefan? Maybe you better not answer that. TCD
