  1. LOL! I'm sorry I mentioned your coffee spill, Tom. S70- That is the best smiley yet! Am I Moe? TCD
  2. Touche' on the super fast golf cart comment. Now we are even. TCD
  3. That sounds good to me. Except don't get too close to Tom when he has a full cup of coffee. Right, Tom? TCD
  4. Tom- I think those trees along the back of the beach will be spared. At least I hope so. Fellow Fiend BayLakeCampers created this great overlay for a thread that was discussing the new construction in the Fort Construction area of FF.net: Click on the photo, and it will enlarge. You will be amazed at the detail you can see. Here's a link to that thread for anyone who is interested: New Pavilion Discussion Thread It looks to me like most of those trees will be spared. It also looks like possibly the Lawnmower Tree will be in a landscape island. TCD
  5. Well, this is it. The last of the photos from this trip. These are all from Sunday morning, June 12th. Since it is June, old man sun rises early. He beat me by just a bit this morning: I had a bit of time before the coffee would be ready at Trail's End, so I looped around a bit. I checked for loose kayaks at the Bike Barn: It looks like they remembered to lock them up last night. Then, I snapped a few photos of a great set-up on the Class C on the 700 loop: Look, they have a real screen door on their screen room, and an awning for their awning: I have never seen such a set-up. Pretty co
  6. That's a great story! It's too bad the Main Street Cinema in the Magic Kingdom is now just another gift shop. I used to almost always take the girls in there on every visit to the MK. They always played Steamboat Willie at some point. Maybe they still do, but you have to stand in a gift shop to watch it. They explain the significance of Steamboat Willie in the One Man's Dream film over at Hollywood Studios. It is truly amazing to think about how that little film changed everything for Walt and his company. TCD
  7. Yes. That is exactly what this means. So, turn that frown upside down! TCD
  8. This is going to be a short little post. I only have 35 photos left to share. So, we will look at 5 in this post, and then the last 30 will be up later today. And, then this report will be in the books. I left off with us ducking out of the movie to head to the beach for the EWP and Fireworks. We made it with time to spare. The EWP was fine. But, we had no audio for the fireworks. That hasn't happened to us in a long time. Here are two fireworks photos for you: After this, it was more looping. On our journey around the Fort, we passed by the pool around midnight. I noticed this sign earlie
  9. Agreed about the strange breed. I don't think there are many, if any, campers who are trying to impress anyone else. A campground is a place where you can be comfortable and be yourself. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who never noticed the eyebrow thing. Now that it has been pointed out, it is very obvious. It's strange that after seeing these dumb chipmunks a hundred times I never noticed it on my own. TCD
  10. On Saturday evening, I whipped up a batch of Pirate Jeff's Macaroni and Cheese (actually it was the TCD modified version), and we enjoyed our meal at our site. Then we headed out to enjoy a Fort classic. We were going to the sing-a-long and movie. It has been a long time since we went to the sing-a-long. A really long time. We haven't been since Ms. Sundee packed up her guitar and left. That's been a few years. But we used to go all the time. When the girls were younger, we used to spread out a big blanket right on the rocks, and enjoy the sing-a-long and movie, along with S'mores, popcorn, an
  11. Todd- I will have to defer to you, as I, unfortunately, never got to see the train in action. But, based on the remnants I have seen, I don't think the train crossed over the entrance to the 800 loop. The tracks went by the Meadow Trading Post, and then traveled along where the 600 loop extension is now, and then crossed over Fort Wilderness Trail between the 800 loop and the 700 loop, and then went behind the 700 loop, and curved toward the Settlement. The train did not cross the 800 loop entrance. That roof line on the left of the photo is throwing me off too. TCD
  12. True. But, if this new rule is strictly enforced, you may have trouble finding a parking space in the overflow lot. It's going to be full of trailers. Thanks, Leslie. If the likely event that the Fort's hammocks are not replaced by the time of your next visit, let me know, and I'll lend you the TCD hammock. TCD
  13. The one about having to have your golf cart on the pad bothers me a bit. I usually park my cart off to the side of the paved area, so I can pull the truck in and out without having to move the cart. But, if these rules are uniformly enforced, I will go along with the golf cart rule. And they had better do something about security in the parking lot for all of the trailers that are going to have to be put out there. TCD
  14. Here is the rule in writing: I saw them passing out these love letters on my June trip, and they were passing them out in droves on the weekend of the 4th. I saw Ranger Sean ask a fellow in the 1500 loop to move his trailer, and I had two of my wheels off of the pavement, and got one of these love notes too. I didn't see any enforcement of this rule as to golf carts. That will be a big change if they do. In the meantime, I saw several groups park and unload their day's pool supplies and haul them over to the pool by the pedestrian bridge. Didn't look like campers to me. I saw some wristban
  15. That's probably it. But, the cabin people are still getting gypped big time with that pool. TCD
  16. Moving on. After our final check on the Cabin Pool on Saturday afternoon, we headed back to the site to chill for a while. We had plenty of shade going then, and the AC did fine keeping things cool for us. As evening approached, it was time for some more looping. Before heading out, I wanted to check the canal behind the 1500 loop for gators. There was an access area to the canal right across from our site. This is the site next to the access area. It backs up to the canal. The access area gives it extra space between this site and the closest neighbor: Here we are out by the canal, with o
  17. True. I am pretty sure that it is a base for a light pole. But, it could also be a foundation for that anti-matter/nuclear fission cylinder that we looked at earlier. TCD
  18. Depending on what bus stop you went to after you walked by the pool. you might have been right behind my site. We were in 1501- directly behind the 1500 loop bus stop. TCD
  19. That is a great photo! Can you give us a brief explanation about the different logos used on the locomotives? The logo on your engine is different from the one in the first black and white photo, but it looks like it matches the one in the second. Until I saw these photos, I never realized that different logos were used, but clearly there was more than one design on the engines. TCD
  20. Moving on. We left off with our brief exploration of the Wilderness Lodge. Now, it was time to go back to the Fort. We had successfully dodged a couple of the hottest hours of the afternoon. The resort boat was just pulling away as we approached the dock, so we had to wait for the next one. That wasn't a problem since they had two boats going, and we could see a boat heading our way from the Fort. The WL dock is nice. It has a covered area and seating. I guess that's what you call deluxe. They also have a telescope you can use to look around. It's one of those ones you have to put a couple of
  21. Whip- First, congratulations on booking a trip to the Fort. April is one of my favorite times to go. Because we have Florida Resident's Seasonal Passes, our passes are always blocked out the week before and after Easter, so we have never been to the Fort for Easter. But, I do have a photo of an Easter announcement from 2010 (we went a week after Easter): I am sure that there are more activities than just this at the Fort. They seem to have expanded some of the children's activities this year, so I would expect that there would be a lot to do (probably a pool party, tie die, etc.) TCD
  22. I will pile on and agree that because of the way on-line check-in is handled at the Fort, there is no real benefit to it. On my last arrival, we arrived at a busy time. One of the check-in lanes was designated for on-line check in arrivals, but the security guard told me to get in that lane, even thought I told him I had not done on-line check in. There were two guests ahead of me. The guest who was at the window took a very long time to check in. Part of it was because they rented a golf cart. The second guest's check-in went a bit quicker. Then, when I pulled up, there was a change in
  23. Thanks for posting this Monique. I don't recall ever seeing either of those black and white photos. I have not yet figured out where the second one was taken. I was thinking maybe at the entrance to the 500 loop, as you can see campers in the right background of the photo (maybe that's the 100/200 loop in the background?), but I'm not sure. It's kind of sad to me that a writer for the official Disney World blog has never heard of the FWRR. TCD
  24. Oh, too bad about that one bite. None of us saw even a single yellow fly. This was a big change between last year and this. I hope that means last year was just an anomaly. We didn't see many mosquitoes either. TCD
  25. Hey TJ- That is sure short and to the point! Good job. Great photos! TCD
