  1. Hooray for hooky from work!!! I know what you mean about one bad experience with a food item. I have had a few such occurrences in my life, too. For example, I cannot eat French Silk pie. I got really sick after eating a big piece of it once. The thing is, I'm sure my illness had nothing to do with the pie, but I have never wanted to eat another piece. It's weird how that works, isn't it? TCD
  2. Oh. I didn't know it was a six hour drive for you. In that case, I agree, that is too far for a good day trip. Thanks! Well, like the title says, that is how I roll! Yeah, I'm a regular Ryan Seacrest aren't I? TCD
  3. Great photos, Campingpixi! Looking forward to a lot more. I love a "live" trip report! Don't feel bad. This happened to us the last time we went. And, we like to have fun. It's a real bummer when you get a dud server there. To me, the shenanigans are the main attraction. The food isn't that spectacular, so the key to an enjoyable experience here is to have a fun server. TCD
  4. You are off to a great start on this report! But, what happened to your photos in post #5? I can't see them? TCD
  5. I meant to comment on this photo . . . That's Chuck E. Cheese there, isn't it? Something tells me that this Plaza did not have a Chuck E. Cheese in it. What the heck is Mr. Cheese doing there? Indeed I do. But, I only have three. I think I took the first solo trip with the girls when the TCD twins were about three years old. They just turned 16. And my oldest is now 20! Take it from me: Do as many Daddy and the girls camping trips as you can! I am glad you finally got around to posting a trip report here- you always do a great job. TCD
  6. So far on this trip, we have visited Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom. It is now time for our chicken dinner at Trail's End. So that means a boat ride to the Fort. We always have great luck with WDW transportation, and we hardly at the dock before our green flagged boat arrived: Look at all the American flags in this photo!: As soon as we boarded and got on our way, a Wilderness Lodge boat approached: Here's a shot as we crossed over the famous water bridge on our way to into Bay Lake: There's the Wilderness Lodge dock: And the shipwreck on Discovery Island: Here's the castmem
  7. Yep. I love where we live- 10 minutes to the beach, 90 minutes (on a good day) to WDW. Pretty much perfect! Good. I'm glad you liked that photo! You will have to get yourself one of those glittery balloons on your next visit! Maybe I should have chased Mater. I wasn't sure that this was something new. We have seen Mater and Lightning McQueen at their meet and greet. But, I do think this was something different. Thanks! I'm sure. But, I'm not going to travel all the way to Jolly England to find out. Yechh! I'll bet that smells good when it's cooking. TCD
  8. Dave- I am thoroughly enjoying your report! Great job on taking the five girls camping. You are making some great memories there, Dad! Your new trailer looks great. That campground looks nice too. Looking forward to reading more, and to more photos too! TCD
  9. Time for the next installment. We are still in Epcot. I have a couple more Flower and Garden show photos: And, after picking up Fastpasses for Soarin' and Test Track, we were on our way. We took the Monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center. We were heading to the Polynesian Resort for some Dole Whip. We took the path from the Ticket and Transportation Center to the Poly. You catch it right here: It is a nice, shaded walk: And there are pretty birds perched in the trees: In less than 5 minutes, we are there: I think a lot of the "quiet" pools at the resorts were redone this Spring
  10. Thanks, KFK. Sorry about the dis to Steven. Thanks. More is one the way! I think we will be making more stops at the fish and chips stand in the future. I have heard folks rave about it, but I always thought it smelled pretty bad. It is now on the TCD short list, though. Thanks for the numbers! I wish I had those on this trip. I think this could be fun info to have! Wow, another fish and chips fan. I wish you lived close enough for a day trip, too. Thanks. Yep, I think everyone needs to try the fish and chips! Based on my review and the comments here, I think you most definitely do nee
  11. LOL @ gymnastics mom! LOL @ Obama! 20 hours! Yeah, that is a bit far for a day trip. Umm . . . You do live close enough for a day trip. I've done many day trips to Tally- it's about a four hour drive. Isn't that how far WDW is for you? Sorry for the delay. More photos are on the way. Thanks. But thumbs down on the hippie thumbs up. Sweet. I wish we had done more school-skipping when the girls were younger. It's a big deal now that they're in High School. We saw Cars 2 this weekend. I thought it was pretty good. Sorry about the motion issues. I feel it coming on for me, but I can u
  12. Yep. It's another TCD trip report. This will be a brief one. Then I have a longer one coming up. And then maybe, just maybe, I will be caught up. So what's this one about, you ask? This is a report from a one day visit to the World. We do that from time to time. We've done it a lot this year. We are trying to do a better job of getting value from our passes. For a long time, the TCD twins have expressed a wish to one day, on a school day to be specific, to be surprised with a trip to WDW. Since they are in High School now, it isn't always a small thing to skip a day of school. But, the stars a
  13. Duh! I am referring to where your group would make a photopass pose somewhere like on a bus, or somewhere else. I remember several photos from your prior reports where your girls were pretending to hold Tinkerbell in their hands on a bus, or some other such foolishness. Those were some funny photos! I guess you don't have any of those for us this time. But the Rhino photos make up for this lapse. If you forget next time, I'm going to have to subtract points from your grade. TCD
  14. Thanks, Dave. I am counting the days to Food and Wine time at Epcot, so I can go get another Nuremberg Sausage photo. That is awesome. One of my DD's dabbles in Duct Tape. I may need to turn her loose on one of these. Welcome. I am glad that you found your way here. True, they do charge for marshmallow sticks. But $.50 isn't that bad compared to some of the other price gouging that goes on around WDW. True. And, I found about those cookies from a fellow Fiend. I almost always pick one up to bring back to the camper. The TCD twins love the big chocolate chip cookies they have there. TCD
  15. Hey- I just wanted to let you know that I have joined the readers of your report. You are doing great, and I am looking forward to reading more! TCD
  16. Leslie- Wow! You have done a great job so far with this report. I was out of town for the past week, and just now had a chance to catch up. My comments/questions/concerns in no particular order: 1. Put me on the list of folks who love the Rhino faces. We have a thing called the Bear Smile in the TCD gang. It has a story to go with it too. I'll be sure to point out a Bear Smile the next time I post a photo of one. 2. Good job on the pool-hopping. Although, technically, I think BLT guests are allowed to use the Contemporary pool, but Contemporary guests aren't allowed to use the BLT pool.
  17. I think it was Saturday night. The score sounded like a football score. She has her fingers crossed that she will get an internship with the Athletic Department for the Fall. That would mean she could be in the press box for the football games. That would be sweet. TCD
  18. LOL- I didn't even notice the Fish Feeder! I think it was water that got to this one. In between the canoe ride and the rainy day, it got more than a small splash a couple of times. TCD
  19. Well, folks, we have reached that point. These are the last photos from this trip. This may have caught some of you by surprise. But, as I mentioned above, my camera broke. It seemed to be taking photos, but the video screen on the back was broken. I experimented with taking photos anyway. What did I have to lose? These are the photos that I took over the last day of our trip. A lot of them were blurry. Some of these are, too. But, these are the best that I have from after the camera broke. As I mentioned earlier, it was a very rainy day. This is the area behind the 1500/1600 loop comfort stat
  20. Before moving on with another installment in this report, there is something I wanted to update. Remember yesterday I mentioned that I ran in to a Fiend who goes by Starbuc71 on Discussion Boards? Well, he was reading along, and he has re-joined us here on FortFiends.net. A lot of you have already sent a welcoming message to him. If you haven't, here's a link to the thread that he started last evening: Well, I'm Back Since that thread is on the Community Board, you have to be a member here to go there. Which means it's time for some of you to join. You know who I'm talking about. Anyway, it is
  21. I am not going to lie. The guy's Gator gear helped him. But, I would have issued the award to a 'Nole if he had been as ingenious. Probably not to a BC fan. But, you're the only BC fan that I have run across at the Fort. Yes, that is the 1400 loop BB court! There was, in fact, a very soggy Brutus just off to the right of where this photo was taken. I'm sorry that we have yet to meet up. Maybe next time. I agree about Epcot being a good place to visit on a rainy day. We went there too. But, so did everyone else. 1. Something is fishy here. How could you not notice mushroom gnome people?
  22. Heck yes, you have readers! I have thoroughly enjoyed your previous trip reports, and look forward to this one. You all always have so much fun! And, you are right about Donnie. I worry about him if I don't see him at the Fort. The man is always there! I am looking to hearing all about your trip! Thanks so much for posting your trip report here! TCD
  23. Yes, this is today's second installment. Don't worry, there is no extra charge. I am trying to get this report wrapped-up after the brief intermission. We are back at the Fort. It's Sunday evening. We are going to head over to the MK later, but we are not in a rush. We visit the campfire and make a few smores. I snapped this photo of the Chuckwagon menu: So, i could compare it to these: This one is from 2010: And this one is from 2009: Can you spot all of the differences? We headed over to the MK at about 11 pm. It's pretty cool to be entering the park while streams of folks are leaving. Fi
  24. Sorry, but no photos of his cart. I think I have some old ones I may be able to dig up. I'll get back to you if I find them. Good catch. Yes, there are a couple of kids in bathing suits playing in the water. One is making a sand castle. As far as I know, this is allowed. It is pretty obvious to me that the thought of putting a resort here is based on the amenities already available. They can use the ambiance of the whole Settlement area as a selling point. Plus, while destroying the Wilderness from which the Fort takes its name, they create an awesome location and views for the guests stay
  25. Wow! What a view! Spectacular! Thanks for sharing this and the rest of your photos! It looks like you had a great time. TCD
