  1. Oh, poor Mason. I know he won't get out of the truck, either. I guess I should say poor Trevor, too. Does he stay in the truck to make sure you don't leave him just like Mason does? I'll say it now, as I don't know if I'll get another chance: Have a great weekend! I hope the weather is nice and you get to use the heck out of your boat! No signs of any traffic or activity at all on the old Wilderness Swamp Trail. No comment about my intended whereabouts this weekend. But, I was at the Fort last 4th of July even though my passes were blacked out. Congrats on the annual passes! I hope you and
  2. It seems a little quiet here around FF.net today. Maybe everyone has gotten an early start on their weekend? Well, some of us are still around. And, I am going to keep posting. Where we last left off we were watching the gator swim out into the lake. And, we are still here. There he is. And make note of the duck there on the right. I think the gator has his eye on him: But, that duck has his eye on the gator too. The gator pretends that he is swimming away: While I was standing there, I snapped this photo of the old cabin. It is looking a bit shabby of late: I really wanted to try to get
  3. OK, I was kidding about the tree carving. But, I did run in to Donnie a couple of times. More on that later. TCD
  4. Yeah, it's been very rainy here to the South and West of you too. But, please go ahead with that anti-rain dance (just for the weekend). The weatherman here says there will be less rain on the 3rd and 4th. Have fun. TCD
  5. WBI- Thanks for posting this. I haven't seen this much detail about the project. It is interesting to see where they are squeezing this building in. It looks like they are capitalizing on the location of the existing big pool with the slide. Unless I am missing something, it also looks like the is no new pool for the DVC folks. This is a departure from the strategy they used at the projects at AKL and the Contemporary. I find that interesting. It makes me believe that one of the big selling points of the project at FW will be a big water park, probably incorporating some of the remnants o
  6. Yes. You said it very well, the Fort is a place where you can find tranquility while being surrounded by complete madness. At the Fort, I can take a nap in my hammock, or sip my coffee in complete peace and quiet, or pop a beer and set a spell. Then, if I want, I can hop a boat and go ride Space Mountain. There is no other place like that! As a matter of fact, I did notice the tree carving, but forgot to mention it. I also neglected to mention and important fact, the carving said ST + S70, and The Mayor was seen around the Fort on this visit. I have often seen folks trying their luck wit
  7. I know you are all dying to know what happened with the castmember in the golf cart. So, I will leave you in suspense no longer. Actually, this turned out to be sort of a false alarm. This guy wasn't the po-po. I could read what was written on the front of his cart before he got very close. Maybe you can make it out in this photo: This guy was just from the Marina. I don't know where he was going in such a hurry. I have thought about this since, and looking at the guy, and thinking about how fast he was going, and his reaction when he saw me, I am guessing it was a donut run. He didn't even s
  8. I am about to reveal what happened. Sorry for the wait. And, I hope that you can persuade your hubby to take you to the Fort sooner too! Oy. Yuri! Leave him out of this. I haven't seen him in a while. That means he is bound to show up soon. Like maybe on my next visit? For some reason, I'm sure he will be around if the construction ever gets started on the new "improved" Fort. Tom- The signs are just around the old River Country area. There used to be a lot more. I think there are still some beyond the fence. Wow! You are so lucky to live in the Crepe Myrtle capital of the world! I'd l
  9. Monique- Thanks for posting these news tidbits when you find them. I don't visit other sites very much, and it is great to get these updates from you. I am glad to hear that the Osborne lights will be starting in early November. That is great for us. I really did not like it that year they started after Thanksgiving. TCD
  10. OK. And then I want us both to go in at the same time and see if one of us gets picked! That would be fun, right? TCD
  11. I owe you the feather story. And here it is . . . I saw a big feather. So what? Well, after I got back from the Fort, I was reading a book that a man from my church had given to me to read. It is just a small, locally published book about people's experiences with feeling the physical presence of God. The author of the book, who collected the stories, said in her foreword that there was a time when she was compiling the book that she reached a block. She prayed, and then over the next day, she found several feathers in odd places. She spoke to a friend who told her that feathers have spiri
  12. Oh boy. Even though you say I can't ignore this, I think I had better. Let's just say you are a remarkable woman, and then let's move on. TCD
  13. Shanta- That is a great story! Classic! But you didn't tell us how things turned out for you and hot chick after the little incident. I am guessing not so good? And thanks for the spoiler! That's funny! Yeah, I have since learned that what that doofus was giving me wasn't a Snakebite at all. Just some nasty mix that he came up with. So even though I have sworn off Snakebites, I guess I really have never had one. TCD
  14. OK, I am ignoring the Free Willy comments from S70, and moving on. BTW, I think S70's DH must hijack her account from time to time and make some of these comments. Sometimes it seems like they are coming from a dude. Anyway, Free Willy notwithstanding, it is time to move along. Because we have a long way to go. But, here is something odd. I'm already done with my photos from Friday. Things didn't go quite according to plan for us. We enjoyed Hyperspace Hoopla immensely, and stayed at HS for an hour or two after that. The plan was then to get back to our site and rest-up for a trip to the MK a
  15. Yes. It was a fun weekend. And I should mention that since our passes were blacked out beginning Saturday, the rest of the Weekend was all Fort. So, there will be a high Fort content in the rest of the report. Dave, thanks for suggesting this. I'm not sure I would have bothered without your recommendation, and we did thoroughly enjoy the show. Well, we hadn't either. It is my understanding, and the performers on stage made several comments confirming this, that the stage and location are new. I think it used to be harder to see. OK, Texas, too. Who knew? Almost, Leslie, almost. You ha
  16. Oh yes, I have been on the ride several times already! I usually am not a big fan of this type of simulator ride, but the addition of 3D and the changing videos makes this one a must-do for us now. Does your friend who knows some of the entertainers know anything about who plays Chewbacca in the show? I would love to see what this person looks like. IMHO, he stole the show. I have no doubt that your girls are smart. Doesn't Not Cindy home school them? They must get their smarts from her. Yeah. FREE BIRD! Thanks, Dave. Hooray for Beer! You are a true Fiend! Really? In Minnesota too? I
  17. Thanks, Monique. I'm sorry that you are 22+ hours away. But that ghost in your countdown display is steadily moving along, isn't he? TCD
  18. Oops. My bad. I get it now. That was some of that sophisticated humor that usually goes over my head. Duh on me! Great report, Dave! TCD p.s Did Charlie Sheen even get his full 15 minutes of fame from his latest antics? I guess he did, as it seems as if he has dropped off the face of the earth.
  19. Hey Lug! Great job! I love the Taco Bell story, especially the fact that you were a bit lit-up and freeloading on the wi-fi, but you were still able to do your job. Nice work! I guess you were getting paid at the time? Who else has a job like that! Thanks for taking the time to write the report and post photos. It looks like all the ankle-biters had a great time with Uncle Lug. TCD
  20. We never have had much interest in the Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios. With apologies to the Star Wars geeks out there, I have to confess that I have seen maybe two of the movies. Maybe three. Definitely not more than that. My DD's have seen zero. But, these Star Wars weekends are popular. And we have noticed that there are unparalleled people watching opportunities. So we go. Fellow Fiend Devores mentioned in his earlier trip report that we should not miss Hyperspace Hoopla. I had no idea what this was. But, on his recommendation, we decided to go and have a look. From what I can t
  21. Just what we need around here. Another trip report! But, this is a TCD trip report. From the Fort. And, finally, it is being posted in the same month in which the trip occurred. I am almost caught up. Almost. This is the TCD Kickin' Off Summer 2011 Trip Report. We camped at the Fort from Friday June 10 through Sunday June 12. Just two nights. It was supposed to be longer. But things happened. So we made the best of it. June 10th was the last day for us to use our Florida Resident's Season Passes before they were blacked out for the Summer. So we planned accordingly. We left home at 6:15. Tha
  22. OK- That clarification helps. And, in the case of the Mickey head carved in the beam, then I agree with you- he's a DM. TCD
  23. Yes he does. It's a wonder the man is still single. Good point. I am sure that I have mentioned before that I grew up with four sisters, and now have three daughters and Mrs. TCD. I am a slow learner, but I have learned that ladies are a bit sensitive to certain things that men think nothing of. TCD
  24. Nope. Not for TCD anyway. You are barking up the wrong tree there. But I will confess that I kind of have the Monsters figured out. I have a few tricks that have worked in increasing my chances of being That Guy. But, those are trade secrets that I am not at liberty to divulge. Lug could be another story. He does look a bit like Buddy Boyle. TCD
  25. Thanks for the info. It would be nice to just be able to pick one up locally, and not have to ship it. But, I will check out Lenspal. Sounds like a great deal, especially for a trip to Disney or somewhere else with lots of photo op's. TCD
