  1. You have a good memory. Here's what I posted on another message board relating to my personal experience at check-in during my visit to Fort Wilderness this past December (2010): I had reserved a partial hook up site. But, I decided to bring the TCD dog, Rocky, along on this trip. I had been checking all week before we arrived for a full hook up site. There were premium sites and partial sites available, but no full or preferred. I decided that if I couldn't reserve a full hook up, I would just deal with the issue at check-in. And now was the time. I had several options. I could upgrade to a p
  2. Alright, we have a lot of ground to cover, so let's get going. It is now already Sunday, March 27th. Time flew for the first part of our trip. That's because of the late arrival on Friday, and visiting both Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom on Saturday. There would be no rope drop for us this morning. That gave me a chance to get out and do some exploring. As is my practice, I was up before the sun, and showered and heading down to Trail's End for that first cup of mud as the sun began to rise. It had gotten very cool Saturday night. Maybe as cool as the upper 50's. I love camping at
  3. Thanks. I have wondered about that. I know Monique would know about this, but she is a slacker in the dog department compared to you. TCD
  4. Thanks. I appreciate your kind words. Some advice about writing a trip report- mine tend to end up being bloated monsters by the end. I am not the greatest photographer, so I compensate by posting hundreds of photos. That may not be your cup of tea. Be yourself. Don't try to be TCD. I enjoy a short trip report with a few good photos. Especially from a first time trip report writer. So, give it a try. You can write a long convoluted report on your next effort. Y and Y counter service is good. Not great. But good. There is quite a bit of drop-off between the table service and counter
  5. Hey- I used to only be able to multi-quote five times in a post. Now, it looks like I can do at least 10. Thank you Webmaster! Now, please fix it so I can capitalize TCD in my trip report titles. "Tcd" doesn't look right. A few more responses before we move on: Welcome. If I am not mistaken, you also have a TR due. So, let's have it. Indeed it is. I met y'all right there on the steps of Pioneer Hall. Right after I had spoken to my good buddy Six Bits. Hopefully not for the last time. It was great to meet you. I think y'all had just checked in, and we were checking out the next day. How di
  6. Congratulations, you were the first to respond! I'm glad you like TCD trip reports. Because there's another one still to come after this one. And maybe (if all goes according to plan) even one more! I would say: "what's taking you so long?" Except, I really cant, seeing as this report is being posted 2+ months after the fact. Don't wait too long, though, you may forget some important details. Thanks. Buckle your seatbelt, as this one is about to take off. If that isn't hard lobbying, I would hate to see what is. Seriously, Lou, thanks to you and S70 for your sales pitch. It got me here.
  7. Yes. This is another TCD trip report. A month ago, you missed TCD. Now, you are sick of TCD. Isn't it funny how that works? Things sure have picked up around here in the past month, haven't they? Before TCD came along on May 5, 2011, no trip report on Fort Fiends had even a thousand views. None. Now there are many. And, there is one with over 11,000 views. Wow! Let's see how many take a look at this one. The TCD gang visited the Fort beginning on March 25 for four nights. TCD did some exploring. And, we met some Fiends. But, first, we must start at the beginning. This was originally going to b
  8. Oh, my bad. This does look like Michigan. It is strange to me that the casinos are hurting for business there. The Florida economy isn't so great right now, but as far as I can tell, the casinos we have here are raking it in. TCD
  9. Wow! That doesn't look like Minnesota to me. That campground could use some trees. It looks like you practically had the place to yourselves. Did you ever get neighbors? TCD
  10. TJ- Awesome report and awesome photos! I'm sorry that your trip did not start as planned, but it looks like you made the best of it. I may have missed it, but did you have AC in your tent? It looks like you had everything else! TCD
  11. Tom- I am enjoying all of your photos. Good job reppin' the Rays! (I am surprised Magicbus hasn't broken out with any of his Red Socks smack) TCD
  12. BRAVO! BRAVO! Excellent job, S70! I especially like the RMOG award. I have seen this before. I think is is awesome for the folks who get those sites. But it amazes me that Disney allows it. There used to be a rule that your stuff had to be confined to your campsite and sand pad. But, then they cleared out the sites, and folks started putting their stuff everywhere. This shows it has gotten a bit out of hand. So, when is the next trip? TCD
  13. Nope- I've never seen the guy again at the Fort. Of course, he could have a new rig and be keeping a low profile, but as far as I know, I haven't seen him. No FB for me. My kids are into it, but I just can't be bothered. TCD
  14. Thanks, Donna. I periodically check on ebay for Fort Wilderness stuff, but I haven't had a lot of luck when trying to follow up to see what the stuff sold for. There have been quite a few old documents put up for sale, and I believe that they have been bid on or purchased by fellow Fiends. Speaking of which, I wonder if it was a Fiend who purchased the old poster? TCD
  15. Hey Tom- Congratulations on 15 years! Y'all must have been very young when you got married. I enjoyed your first post, and I'm looking forward to more. TCD
  16. Thanks for expaining that. I never had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy. That is a great example of true customer service! Do you mean July 3. 2010? I sure don't remember that cart. But, there were so many I could have missed it. TCD
  17. Huh? There has always been a tetherball court located between 807 and 809. I have camped in 809, and the tetherball court is closer to it than 807. I can't imagine that they sacrificed a site on the 800 loop for a tetherball court. I will certainly take a look at this the next time I am at the Fort, but I have a hard time believing that a site has disappeared. TCD
  18. I probably do not remember you? Child please! TCD never forgets a Fort Fiend. And, you, my dear lady, are a true Fort Fiend! Do you think I would forget that your son was awarded a TCD Junior Deputy badge for his work in River Country back in '09? (he is probably the youngest TCD junior deputy ever) Do you think that I would forget our discussions regarding your friend who camped in the 300 loop for a year solid a few years back? (by the way, whatever happened to him?) Do you think that I would forget your kind words when Rocky's predecessor went to the big Fort in the sky? Well, I did not for
  19. Thanks for posting this great report! I am ashamed to say that I am not familiar with Fort Pickens. And that is bad because I visited Pensacola many times when my brother was in flight school there. But, in my defense, that was 25+ years ago, and I can tell you all that you want to know about the bars in town. Anyway, great job on your report, and photos! TCD
  20. S70- I am continuing to enjoy your report very much- I love all of the Fort photos, especially the GAG photos. I just hope Rocky doesn't see that Mason gets some chicken from the GAG, or it's going to be all over for me the next time he is at the Fort. Hi Monique! For future reference, about what time is the pizza and fried egg dish prepared? I may need to check this out. Deb- I love that idea. There is a Cuban restaurant (Gordo's for those of you familiar with Tallahassee) that my FSU DD always likes to visit when we are in Tallahassee. They serve a great pork dish with black beans
  21. Winding down? Don't forget to post a photo of a greasy french fry tray! TCD
  22. Wow! You did see a lot of animals on your safari ride. We often hit AK for rope drop, but we always have to go to Expedition Everest first. Then Dinosaur. We never make it to the Safari until later in the day. By then, the animals are scarce. I didn't know that there was a baby gorilla. We haven't been down any of the trails in a while. I'll put that on my to do list now. Looking forward to more! TCD
  23. Thanks for the recipe. I make a mean pulled pork myself, but I use orange juice instead of the root beer and Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce (supposedly it has no high fructose corn syrup). I have always used a bone-in Boston Butt Roast. I think I will try a tenderloin next time. TCD
  24. Duh- If you put a big spur on the back of that thing, it would look just like a giant cowboy boot! I didn't think Walt was on the boat, but if those guys were puttering around Bay Lake, maybe Walt did too. TCD
  25. Hold on just a second, here: 1. Is that Walt in a boat? Is he near Shipwreck Island? 2. What is that giant boot? That is a giant boot, right? Where was that thing going and is it still at WDW? It looks like something at one of the All Star Resorts, but we all know those weren't built for a long time after WDW first opened. TCD
