  1. We got our dog to be trained as a seizure dog for our daughter, Kimberly. Turns out she, the dog, is a family pet that pretty much ignores the kids except to move quickly if the wheelchairs are headed toward her.  She is a pretty good size for the house and the MH, about 20 pounds.  Has a great disposition unless someone she doesn't know approaches.  Costs are much higher than I imagined...vet bills, hair cuts, baths, treatments for worms and fleas...  She is usually at Judy or my feet.  Can't help but love her, but she is a responsibility.

  2. We recently changed from AT&T phone service and AT&T DSL to AT&T Uverse for phone and internet.  Higher speeds and cheaper prices.  A couple weeks later we changed from DISH to DirecTV, billed through AT&T.  Uverse is not yet available for TV in our neighborhood.  Saved some more money by switching, but we have five TVs on satellite, so we did not save as much as we might have.  I like the sports stations, news, and DIY stations, and DW likes games shows and food shows, and that dumb dance thing where the instructor yells at everybody, all of which only seem to be available on higher program bundles.

One night I noticed a red light on the modem and both internet and phone quit working.  By the time I called from my cell phone and got someone knowledgeable of the line, it was rebooting itself.  And of course neither DISH nor DirecTV can stand to get the antenna wet.

  3. From what I read from OP, it sounds like some simple stair treads would help if sliding on the step is a problem.  We've been through several sets of the carpet-like covers that fasten with a spring under each step.  Gives everyone a better sense of grip going in or out.  Last Christmas we parked across from a couple who had built a level platform with 3-4 steps going toward the rear of their RV.  A  railing around the platform made it safer.  The whole thing came apart into 3-4 pieces and stored on a small trailer they towed.

  4. A great weekend for Auburn.  Not only is the softball team going to the Women's College World Series (Ok City)  for the first time, but the baseball team was selected for regional action in Tallahassee.  It's been a while since they went to the CWS (Omaha).

By the way, could some of you locals help clear up the weather out there in the mid/south west?  You guys have been through enough already so there's no reason to interfere with these championship series in either place.

  5. Nacole, I think I got mine at Radio Shack (if you can still find one).  It has 6 or seven switch positions for various functions, but you will likely only use about three of them, for DC and AC voltages; and ohms for testing fuses and looking for wiring shorts.  It has a rubberized case for moderate dropping, which I do occasionally.  It has reverse polarity protection, so when I hook the leads backwards, it doesn't burn out the meter.  It has auto-ranging so you don't have to know what value you might measure; the meter will adapt to whatever it is.  It has automatic shut off, so if you leave it on accidentally, it will shut itself off to preserve the internal battery.  I think it was in the $30-35 price range.  It has some other stuff on it, but most has never been used.

Some models come with clips either on the ends of the leads or separately to slip on the leads.  This can be a convenience to help free up a hand, but mine does not have clips.  Small alligator clips are also available at Radio Shack (if you can still find one) that can be used.  And prices at Radio Shacks (if you can still find one) have been drastically reduced.
