  1. Well, all I can say is thank goodness for the Wiggles! I spent the last few days doing silly things like teaching kids, laundry, and cooking. So today, I had 9 pages of TR to catch up on, including a lot of posts about beer, which just made me want a beer. It took me over an hour to read through all this. But I did it! So why am I thankful for the Wiggles? because i completely forgot during that hour to keep an eye onmy 4yo. Thankfully, she spent the hour watching a Wiggles video. I have looked very carefully and found no new permanent marker on the walls, no nail polish on the carpet,
  2. Good morning, Fiends! I have nothing to contribute on this thread,, but I did want to thank you for the Saturday morning entertainment. (Except picture cereal and juice instead of popcorn and soda)
  3. Ok, I watched most of the tape (about 7 minutes worth). Do I get a gold star? Can't wait to read more tomorrow!
  4. The nice thing about waiting to read a TCD report is that you can spend a concetrated amount of time almost feeling like you are there. Today was one of those days when I needed that. Thanks, TCD! But here is the question I have - I saw the TCD hammock. Did anyone try spending the night in it?
  5. I try to keep hot dogs in the freezer and baked beans in the pantry. If we ever have dinner plans fall through (out oo late to start planned meal or whatever), I defrost the hot dogs and toss them in the baked beans for quick beanies and weiners. Not the healthiest, but cheaper than paying for McD's for 8 hungry people. Many of my children love pasta. I try to buy lots when it is on sale. My oldest 4 children have all learned how to cook up 2 lbs. of pasta, drain it, and add butter and spices. This is a cheap and very filling meal. Another favorite is vegetable ice cream. LOL That's my
  6. Yes, that would be fine. I find it toasts and grills better with just bread flour. I use the WW flour just to try to make us a little healthy.
  7. Here's my favorite bread recipe. 1 c water 2 t butter 1/4 c sugar 1 egg 3 c flour (I use 2 cups bread flour, 1 cup whole wheat flour) 1 1/2 t yeast 1 t salt place in machine in the order your machine asks for and cook on the regular cycle. The bread has enough body to slice for sandwiches. I also use this for hamburger or hot dog rolls, just using the dough cycle. i pull it out, form the rolls, then let it rise again before at 375 F for 20-30 minutes. To make this in a stand mixer, put the yeast and sugar in the bowl, then the water which should be hot. (If your butter is not room temp., pu
  8. I thought we had already trimmed the budget pretty well, but now we are giving up meat for most meals, having less boxed cereal, and staying home a gerat deal. Our Suburban needs a new motor, so it only gets a fw miles per gallon. My dh took it into town recently when I had just put gas in it and needed to put gas in it again right after he got back. So a trip to town cost about $20 in gas. Might as well stay home. Mostly we only use it now for going to church. We have a sedan that gets much better gas mileage, but it doesn't fit all 8 off us. Thanks for all the great ideas in this threa
  9. Good so far! What about cooking needs? We always bring our camping stove and some propane. (Or is it gas? Thank goodness for a dh who takes care of all this for me!)
  10. Sorry!! I just saw this. Better late than never? Some of these are outdated, but i haven't taken the time to edit the list. You would think that in between homeschooling 6 children I could find time for things like this. Again, sorry. Free Things To Do at Walt Disney World • Collect autographs instead of pins. • Collect stickers from Cast Members • Collect swizzle sticks that they give out at some restaurants. • Ask the front desk at your resort what “free” things there are to do: for example at the Wilderness Lodge, one family gets to raise the flag each morning. • Investigate special
  11. Thank you for sharing your TR with us!! I was trying to talk my dh into a day trip to Charleston for tomorrow. I won a family membership to the Aquarium almost a year ago, but have not gotten there yet. I thought he might be able to get away for a day, but he says he will be too busy. I will just have to live vicariously through your pictures for now. Isn't that what TRs are all about?
  12. In hopes of making this board more helpful to those considereing camping at the Fort, let's come up with a master packing list. Feel free to include items you want for the parks, like autograph books for the younger ones, etc.
  13. I would love for my dh to do this once he can't do lawncare anymore. Just have to convince myself I can deal with FLA heat. And bugs. And snakes. And gators. Hmm...maybe this needs a re-think.
  14. That's right, I did. Don't make tell you this again! :popo:
  15. Actually, I think it was used on "Grace Under Fire" before Seinfield. Her boss used to say it all the time.
  16. Thanks for that. Now I can be scared on bridges too. :) In May 1981, I was about to graduate from high school! Young whippersnapper! :yourekillinme:
  17. I love all the little details you find and share. Thanks for making WDW extra special for all of us. :D
  18. There are the outdoor Lego sculptures that are amazing. Also, Rainforest Cafe is cool.
  19. Wiki article about navigable aquducts : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navigable_aqueduct
  20. Almost missed this one! Glad I took the time to find it. The children can teach themselves - I have to learn to prioritize more correctly! :D
  21. I cannot begin to express how much I appreciate what y'all are doing by providing this site and making it so friendly. Thank you for doing the lawyerly stuff and everything else. You guys are the bestest.
