We have them in Pennsylvania and we call them Nettles.... When you touch them they transfer tiny needles or quills into your skin, clothes etc... It stings and is quite painful and yet another use for duct tape.

Several of your photos are from Berks County or as we refer to it " Dutch Wonderland"... Next time your coming to Gettysburg let me know and we can meet up... If you want ghosts and the kids to see something unique, take a day and do Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia.

Those particular cars are covered coil gondolas which are used exclusively to handle coiled sheet steel. Tank cars are completely rounded. The cars in the photos are flat gondolas with the half cover. Full disclosure is that my uncle was an engineer for 35 years.... I also love trains.....
