  1. We do the same thing. After a snow storm I go out and shovel a maze of paths thru the drifts. they love to go out and run around, the chihuahuas can't see over the drifts so every corner is a surprise with all four dogs and the cat running through it..... :rofl2: :rofl2: :) :) :) :)
  2. I'd be interested if someone knew the relative numbers of guests per pool for FW and some of the other resorts. The capacity of the Fort (which is hard to pin down since you can have so many per site/cabin) versus the pool capacity. My uneducated guess would be that the average guest at the Fort seems to have less access to a pool or hot tub than the average guest at the other resorts. That impression is why most of us were so disappointed when they went to all that time and trouble to dig up the pool, only to leave it the same size sans deep end?!?! :) :) :) :) :)
  3. Our Diabetic Lab is now almost completely blind and has slowed wayyyyy down, but she still comes along with us, we just have to allow extra time for her to "smell and hear" her way around :) Puppies are hard work..... CODE BROWN!! LOL! Nothing like that smell either.... :) T-shirts? We want PICS! :) :) :) :) :) :)
  4. NOOOOO!!!!!!! Speaking of post counts, where's Kim and Lisa? They should also be protesting this! :) :) :) :) :)
  5. "When it comes to camping, best advice I can give is to know your dog. Practice at home before you head out for your first big trip to make sure he's comfortable and you have a setup that works for you all. Last thing want to find out when you're parked at Disney is that your pup HATES the camper and/or barks his head off the entire time you're gone. When it comes to puppies and camping, best advice I can give you is SOCIALIZE!! That's really the best puppy advice period. Make sure your pup has lots of good experiences with all kinds of people and other dogs from Day 1. Your dog will be w
  6. I'll give it a shot - thanks! And exactly what noise does a Fiendmingo make anyway? Of of course.... it SNARKS! cue scene from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: http://www.hark.com/clips/mptqhstrcx-put-some-heart-in-it Hermey: "Oink, oink." Yukon: "Put some heart in it. That Bumble is hungry!" Hermey: "Oink, oink, oink." Snark, snark, snarksnarksnarksnark....... :rofl2: :rofl2:
  7. The exception to the "get two" rule is if you have a child or children who will be "the other puppy". Kids that are old enough to know not to hurt it, but young enough to run around all day playing fetch and hide and seek will keep a puppy occupied no problem and the two will grow up together (Do NOT rent "My Dog Skip" if you are the teary eyed type..... fair warning!) If you are going to leave the puppy alone every day w/no one around to play with, then get 2 and/or crate train. You will both be happier. :) :) :) :) :)
  8. We talk about getting another dog, but it can run into a lot of money if they have medical complications. Buddy was given a 50/50 of surviving major surgery a few years ago. The little trouper wouldn't give in and he did survive and is living a normal life. But it costs us a bundle in yearly special checkups, tests, vitamins, and special food for his condition. Add grooming to that and we're talking big bucks, not to mention what the surgery cost. He's worth every single penny and more, but if we got a second dog and it happened to it, wow. I am right there with you guys. One of my two Labs b
  9. He'll come around when the dog is licking his face and looking at him like he is the best person that ever walked on the planet..... A single dog will do OK once he/she is older, but when they are puppies (kittens too) they get bored and start tearing things up. With two, they will chase each other around till they are exhausted and then collapse on top of each other... sparing your furniture and drapes.... well, sometimes.... I agree. I would never have just one dog. My mothers biggest regret is that she didn't get two. She had a heck of time with her chihuahua. They are pack animals too.

  11. BTW, we also have 2 chihuahuas... LOL So when we go camping we have our son, 2 labs, and 2 chihuahuas.... all in a motorhome with no slide outs. Gets a little crowded in the hallway :grpwelcome: But thats the beauty of RVing. You can take it all with you (and everybody!) All the dogs love to travel, can't wait to jump on board if they hear the engine start, and they think that EVERY rest area is the most exciting place EVER! LOL!  :) :) :)
  12. Labs are HIGH energy! Esp the puppies. They are retrievers and LIVE to run and retrieve, mine can't get enough of the yellow tennis ball...... They are the best dogs in many ways, we have two  But they are also very strong pack animals and do best when they are with "the Pack" which is you and your family. They think that you are just a bigger dog! Keep them in the house with the family and they will do well and be great watch dogs. If you keep them outside, they feel like they have been abandoned by the pack and it is torture for them. Leaving them in the camper will be tough at fi
  13. Ray hasn't been back to the Fort since the winter of 2007/2008. It doesn't look like they are ever coming back, for a couple of reasons. (1) They will only stay on either 1100 or 1200. (2) They won't pay the premium rates. (3) Ray's health has gotten very bad. He was diagnosed with diabetes back in 2002 and immediately placed on insulin. He didn't change his eating habits - but just increased his insulin as needed and continued eating what he wanted. It's finally caught up with him. They don't even come to Florida for the winter anymore because if Diana can't stay at Disney, she doesn't want t
  14. Same here. I used to carry my pages from the "Unofficial Guide" around like they were the Dead Sea Scrolls.... LOL! I especially loved the "Space Mountain Mini-Marathon" :rofl2: When we started to get AP's we eased up. Now we can come and go as we please. It is a very nice feeling to be so flexible. Besides, if the choice is to get up to be crushed in the crowd, or stay up late at "Epcot after Dark", there really isn't a choice..... :) :) :) :) :)
  15. It's too bad, I really liked that blue Mickey head floating up in the air... :rofl2: Like any disagreement, it's best to get ahead of the issue if possible. How about meeting with the FW manager and propose some common sense compromise? For instance: If the issue is Liability, then agree that walk through displays aren't allowed. If the issue is tampering with the boxes, then agree that it will be strictly enforced. If the issue is the Electric bill, then propose requiring large displays use LED lights only, say over a certain size. Maybe phase in the rule so the big light people can transitio
  16. Same here. I like the Counter service food just fine and the seats look over the central area and the Lake :) My fave counter service is still in Japan, but the lines are usually shorter in China. > > :)
  17. HAHAHAHAHAHA !!!! Oh, you said DON"T laugh. oooops. Never Mind........ :) > >
  18. Respect Arrow to you Bay Lake because I like your Avatar and your family takes pity on the hungry fish BTW: :) > :) :)
  19. oh oh oh oh, I know, I know (raising my hand and jumping up and down like my mannerless students sometimes do :rofl2:) They would be promptly told to leave. :rofl2: Exactly Right! (Ok, you can stop jumping now..... ) Double Standard at work. Does anyone here think that the "Shamrock Families" (who terrorized the 2000 loop and the rest of the Fort over MK weekend) would be allowed to pull their antics at any other resort? And they were just PART of the problem that weekend. Seems like WDW doesn't feel like the "Guest Experience" is as important for Campers as it is for "Real" Guests......
  20. My guess is that there are at least 3 reasons for WDW not to enforce ID's at FW: 1. Of course the almighty dollar. More people at the pool equals more money spent at the snack bar, vending machines, arcade, and Trading Post thus justifying their existence (and the managers increase in his yearly/monthly sales stats...) 2. The fear Disney has instilled in their CM's of "confronting" guests and causing a scene. 3. and Last but certainly not least, the seeming disdain WDW has for the "Campers". Many rooms at the Pop-Century go for less than a site at FW, but who gets treated better usually? If
  21. Debbie ....... I totally agree with you about Jeff Martin! He sure seems to be a quality person! I have had the pleasure of talking with Jeff several times over the years and he has always been 'very' helpful! I remember during one of my conversations with Jeff he shared with me that he was trying to decide which loops would be best for 'Pet Loops' at the Fort and ask me for my opinion. He was very sincere when he ask me and he sure appeared to be interested in what I shared with him. I remember thinking after our conversation that I was expressed that someone in his position would try
  22. I wonder what would happen if a bunch of people all carrying towels, chairs and coolers got off the FW bus at the Wilderness Lodge and proceeded to set up shop at the WL pool?.... things that make you go hmmmm....... :D
  23. You can get a cheap one at Radio Shack for 40-50 dollars. Good enough for small kids, but it will alert on ANY metal, so they will spend most of their time digging holes only to find foil wrappers and old pulltabs, etc. Garrett sells the ACE series for 100-200 dollars which has more "real" detector features and is what I would get for a kid to actually have a chance to find something valuable.  ???
  24. I'm surprised that they still rent watercraft if they don't want guests to come into contact with the Lake water....... Jen, what happened over Easter weekend? Why was it the worst ever? And will FW actually do anything about it?  ??? ???
