  1. Dang, that's always our first stop, and were going to be there in June.
  2. If the AC units had to shut down, everyone would leave. I work night security at a local KOA in the summer. What we are shutting off is the music, outdoor movies, partiers that can be heard from several campsites away, kids running all over the place, etc. Run the AC, that's one of the reasons you got the RV.
  3. Yum! I see at least three things that we've tried and loved.
  4. My daughter and I love eating there. I don't know if I have the ability, but I'd like to try some. Anybody got any leads?
  5. We made this tonight. Judging by the speed with which it evaporated, and how little is left for me to have another day, I'd say it was a big hit. I think I might try using pepperjack cheese and drizzling lime and cilantro before baking- or perhaps using that in the sauce. Delicious!
  6. Thanks Harold, it's in the bag now and ready to use.
  7. Think they just put people at random. My wife was given that opportunity just this morning but I had to go through the old fashioned way. Neither of us fly more than every other year at the most.
  8. Jen, can you repost this w/o the pics? I keep recipes on my kindle as screen shots, but I can't fit this one and it won't let me cut the pics. I'd love to try this.
  9. Busy schedules and learning how to use the Kindle slowed me down for a while for sure.
  10. I have my TT set up in a campsite for the winter, the first time I've been able to leave it serviceable all winter. The water lines are winterized and I'll empty the fridge and freezer and remove all the food from the pantry. We're in Nebraska. What is the best thing to put around the tires, tongue, and scizzor jacks to prevent unwanted critters from coming in? I have put three applications of Bug B Gone granules on the ground this season with heavy emphasis around the parts that touch the ground. No bug issues over the summer, and I don't want any over the winter, either. Is there anything th
  11. We store ours under the bed in the master bedroom. The bed is hinged and we store iron cookware, crock, extra supp;lies, etc under there. Non-skid shelf liner on the floor and a thin towel between the lid and the crock to prevent breaking. It's never moved during transit. rode2nowhere: a motorhome can power the 110 circuits even while traveling. The generator may or may not have to run, but it will work.
  12. If I want to watch the game around here, I'm sent to the basement. Who needs it, I have more fun watching the kids watch the puppy bowl. The dogs, however, would rather nap.
  13. Our Favorite Crockpot Chicken Wrap chicken breasts or thighs with bacon Place wrapped chicken in the bottom of the crock Mix 1 can undiluted Cream Of Chicken soup, with equal amount of sour cream, pour over chicken Cook for 5-6 hours on low (depends on how quickly your pot cooks) The chicken and bacon fall apart when serving. We serve with (or over) rice or noodles. You can also use biscuits. You can also add seasonings per your tastes. My kids won't eat much spicy-ness.
  14. I think you should torture Jim by just posting pics of the van and house for a couple of days.
  15. I had to come to Minneapolis yesterday for a meeting this morning. As I hit town I hit the 12+ inch snowfall they got over the weekend. Took me 45 minutes to go about 5 miles through the downtown "rush" hour. After checking in to the hotel I drove down the street to get dinner, and looked out to I-94. After dark, in the middle of the evening standstill traffic, and with temps in the low teens and snow/ice on the roads, I saw someone pulling a 30' travel trailer. I'm dedicated to the cause, but I believe I would have left that where it was for a few days.
  16. Anyone who builds in a heavily populated, wildly popular vacation area and expects anything resembling privacy is so gullible that I'd like to sell them some new vacation property myself.
  17. Nebraska has had an on-line system for some time, but it can be frustrating. Only about half (or less) of the sites in any park are reservable, the rest are FCFS. The reservable sites are often gone by early summer- for the rest of the season, meaning you have to vie for fewer walk-in spots. Often I have to pay for a spot by Tuesday or Wednesday in order to have a walk-up spot for a weekend. It's one reason I started using the KOA, even before I started working there. I paid a higher daily rate, but only had to pay for the 2 nights I was to be there, so it was the same cost or cheaper.
  18. I'd like to have some good homemade eggnog this Christmas. Anyone have a tried-and-true combination?
  19. I need a good homemade RB&R recipe. Living in the Midwest, I haven't had the real thing since Louisana, 22 years ago. Share your favorite prepping tips!
  20. You can cook it either way. If you are pressed for time, it will probably cook a bit faster if you cut it first. Most of the time I cook it first, then chop it up before putting the crust on top.
  21. Amazing Pork chops and Gravy Ingredients: 4 whole thick cut bone in pork chops (need to be the thick cut bone in ones with a little fat) 1 envelope onion soup mix (1 oz) 1 cup of chicken broth 1 10.5 oz can of cream of chicken soup 1 envelope dry pork gravy mix Preparation: Place pork chops in the slow cooker Mix all other ingredients in a bowl and pour on to chops. Cook on low 6-8 hours until they are VERY fork tender...if they still aren't fall apart cook 30 minutes more and then check again ( continue until they are how you want them) You may have to adjust to get the gravy to the right t
  22. I don't do "fancy" and I love the invention of the crock pot. This one is a favorite of my kids: Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Ingredients:4-5 frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts 3 cans of mixed vegetables 2 cans cream of chicken soup 8 oz cream cheese 1 can of crescent rolls Instructions: In slow cooker, add the chicken and vegetables (add the juice from one can and drain the other two). I usually use frozen veggies, and it works just fine Add cream of chicken soup, and cream cheese. Cook for 6-8 hours on low. About an hour before you about to serve, put crescent rolls on top of chicken
  23. Considering that Disney Security's reputation is that you don't even know they're there, even when they are reacting to something, I'd say this was an unusual occurrance.
