We stayed there this past August on our way to the Fort.  Nice folks, pull thru with lots of sand.  We felt safe and it was easy being right off 95. 

So we just got back from two weeks and there were still a few sites open in the area yesterday morning.  I chatted up our neighbors on Sunday who were from the area and they told me something interesting.  Apparently travel agents are booking sites at the campground so that their clients can benefit from Disney resort perks and stay off site using various discounts at hotels in the area.  I'm guessing Hilton points or something to that effect that aren't available at Disney resorts.  Since you can have up to 10 people on the the sites, the agents put numerous families on the sites to split the cost and they still get the free parking, bands, and such.  They stay off site cheap or near free with their discount and pay a small amount to still get Disney resort perks by splitting the cost of the campsite with others.  Hence, the Fort being full with empty sites.  Our neighbors say they know numerous families that do this...... 

We filled up in the 1800 loop today, went to re-checkin yesterday and the desk guy said it was locals coming in.  By the looks of it there were a ton of FL residents tonight when we went looping.  THe Christmas decorations were also sparse considering the previous two weekends we were here.

He made it about 3pm!  We just got back from the park and the little one and I were still sitting in the cart.  Our site backs up to the road and I saw him walking on the road.  I was able to get Kellens attention who was halfway between us and asked if she was ready for her Christmas surprise.  Her eyes got wide and I told her to turn around, Daddy was about ten feet from her by this point.  She started crying and ran straight to his arms.  The single best moment of my life after their births......I broke down, I didn't expect her to cry.  The little one was a little confused by everything but soon gave him a big hug.  THanks everyone for your amazing support!  I'll post a picture soon!

He's on his way!!!!  Seriously, I don't care where we meet at this point, as long as he's here!  I told the girls that they are getting a early Christmas present tomorrow and described it as tall as mommy, gives great hugs and loves to play.  We had a rough time here in August right before he deployed so I'm looking at a "do-over".  We finally seem to be getting over this cold we caught on day two of our trip.  I finally feel like we can handle going back to the parks.  We spent one night at MK and an afternoon at both AK & Epcot, not to great for being here a week.....

Welcome!  Right now we are in a full hook up but have stayed in Premium in the past.  If you have small children and would like the extra space then go for it, I'm hating the sand stuff right now and we are further away from the amenities.

I wish but we will be heading home on the 23rd:'(

That stinks, I met him during our Halloween trip.  They couldn't get our bands working (big surprise) and they finally called him after nearly an hour.  He took care of us in 5 minutes and even made sure to get my daughters pink band back to her.  The lady attempting to help before he intervened told us we had to switch to the grey ones and that would have been very traumatic for little miss pink.   She still wears it a month later.....

That is one problem I'll never have ......  :rofl2:

If you don't want to travel that far, just drive down to Raleigh, NC... it was 80 degrees here today...

 

 

It was 80 here in Fayetteville, but due to oncoming "winter",  I went ahead and hooked up the trailer so we can out run it on our way to the Fort.  We will be there for two weeks, I always bring an air mattress and tent, anyone who wants to come down is more than welcome!

Shades of Green.

 

There are several options depending on what you need/want.

 

An example of what they have is a 4 day non hopper through shades of green is $270 while a 4 day non hopper through undercover tourist is $290. If you want 4 day hopper with water parks and more option it will run you  $336 at shades of green while a similar ticket at UT will be $351.

Thanks!  I've been wanting to check out Shades for awhile so I'll run over there during our trip.  I'd like to stay legal, seems like going the other way to save a few could end up costing you more in the long run.  

I believe he is in 707 until the 17th.  I've got it penciled in to my "to do" list !

So here's the catch, we usually do the military salute tickets for our trips but the black out dates are during our December trip.  Hubs will be coming in on the last leg of our trip and we are looking at 3-5 days for him.  Any ideas on the best deals?

Well Rich went to one of his Doctors today. Said no to coming to the fort. So sorry I really wanted to get together with all of you, but it is to important for him not to push himself especially before the surgery. I could have a GG at my house, you all could come here I would make DF Chicken for all of you LOL

So we had a date change today, two days earlier!!!! Of course that is because we booked a rental so he could drive in from Miami, go figure!  We are looking at mid day arrival and I'm still going to be holding off until we get a few days out before making any plans.

For all of the dates? I just checked and a premium appears to be open for our only "missing" night of the 28th. Do you see all of my nights available (Dec. 22 - Jan 4)? Tell this Ft. newbie more please.

Add me to the list. Maybe! DW just said that it wouldn't be Christmas with out going to Disney. But when pressed she said "I don't know. I'm still thinking about it". I told you she's trying to torture me.

I hope we will be there to be part of the reunion.
