We have been looking for a fire pit that would be approved for the fort. All I have heard is that if you are to have a fire pit, it must have some sort of cover. These come with a screen for the top. Do you think they would be approved? I would hate to spend the money then be told to put it out. They come in other colleges and NFL teams.

I have an AUBURN one just like that (it is blue) and I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. They are kinda pricey, but if you can wait until the summer months, they sell them half off. I got mine as a mother's day present and the people who got it for me bragged that they got it half off because it was "out of season."

BTW- Mine has a solid top.

According to the handout, they have to have a solid top. Here is a link to an earlier discussion with official hand out.

Yes, that's true.

But I lost count of how many fire pits I saw in use with mesh or even no tops during my last visit to the Fort.

I have never received that hand-out on check-in, and the enforcement of these rules, as with any rule enforcement at the Fort, is spotty.
