The ice chunks get bigger and more frequent.

We have to leave the same way we came in so most of the scenery is the same but there are some new pics. I don't know what is with photo-bucket I have reduced the size of all the pics, sometimes it works sometimes not.

We say good-bye to the glacier

100_2813.jpg

100_2815.jpg

100_2817.jpg

Apparently the ice flow where the seals were "sun bathing" broke up after the smaller sightseeing boat and the our ship went by.

100_2816.jpg

100_2822.jpg

Next stop.

100_2752.jpg

They don't have to worry about neighbors.

100_2832.jpg

We are docked.

What you would see if you lived in SKAGWAY.

100_2834.jpg

Some of DCL's competition. We thought that town would be a zoo but that was not the case.

100_2835.jpg

We attempted to use the POS since there was a lift equipped shuttle, but this is what we encountered as we went to leave. Believe it or not they lifted Linda and the scooter on to the ramp. (She was a little nervous) The tide made things difficult for the ship's crew

100_2836.jpg

As usual the POS got this far and stopped.

100_2837.jpg

We finally made it into the "booming metropolis" of SKAGWAY. 7 blocks long, 3 blocks wide.

100_2841.jpg

100_2842.jpg

100_2843.jpg

As we anticipated the POS did not co-operate so we went back to the ship for a couple hours until it was time for our train ride to FRAZIER, BC and then a bus ride to LIARSVILLE.

100_2838.jpg

This was picking up some passengers for a "town" tour.

100_2844.jpg

We got a quick bite to eat up by the pool. I thought the snow and pool would make a good pic. They kept the pool water at 90 but the breeze as we cruised would still make it a little "chilly".

100_2846.jpg

100_2847.jpg

Next up our train ride.

Very nice Dave!!

One thing I did on Photobucket, is set my maximum upload size to 800x600. I still have the full size pics on my hard drive, but it keeps the internet pics at a reasonable size. If you click on upload, then "customize your upload options", then you can set your maximum web size.

Thanks, I've resized them all to 640X480 don't know why they have'nt all taken., Eveything is uploaded now. They need a "re-size all" option.

Our trip on the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad.

The train follows the path of the gold rush up to FRAZIER, BC. and beyond, but FRAZIER is as far as we went. We then hopped on a bus for the trip back down to LIARSVILLE.

Usually all tours meet in one of the theaters or lounges before heading out to the busses, but we were allowed to get on the bus early to avoid the crowd since Linda was walking. I have to give a "Hats off" to Anthony who handles the shore excursions for being so accomodating.

Working our way to the bus.

Then:

Linda and Claire of the train.

100_2850.jpg

One set of engines.

100_2851.jpg

We start out on our journey. Again a lot of beautiful scenery and when you look at the terrain you wonder how people actually walked and climbed the area.

Up, up we go.

100_2869.jpg

The US border check point. We stop here on the way back. It's actually about 6 miles south of the border for some reason.

100_2871.jpg

Still climbing.

Looking back.

Absolutely beautiful pictures!

I would give my right arm for that house nestled in the trees.

It looks SO cold, but you guys are only in sweatshirts. What were the temperatures?

Train ride continued.

Heading into one of the tunnels on the route.

100_2899.jpg

You can tell we're really climbing. More and more snow, smaller and fewer trees.

100_2902.jpg

100_2904.jpg

100_2905.jpg

An abandon tressle.

100_2907.jpg

Snow is piled up next to the tracks.

100_2911.jpg

The train in front of us was a shorter tour so the switchman is waiting for us to go and then will move the engine and start back down.

100_2912.jpg

Well we made it to Whitepass which is the actual border between the US and BC

.

100_2913.jpg

A lake along the way.

100_2916.jpg

Just remember some of the snow has already melted.

100_2918.jpg

The trees are so short and skinny because they are subjected to 80-90 mph winds. We were told many are over 100 years old.

100_2920.jpg

It's amazing some of the streams & lakes are still frozen, others are not

.

100_2922.jpg

100_2923.jpg

Almost to FRAZIER.

100_2924.jpg

Next we start back down on the bus heading to LIARSVILLE. I didn't get any pics where we actually boarded the bus since it is CANADIAN customs and they frown on pics for security reasons.

We stopped at a pull off on the way down and.......

100_2928.jpg

This was also there. It has various plaques imbedded in it from various organizations, Kiwanis, etc.

100_2926.jpg

The view.

100_2929.jpg

Took a couple pics from the bus window. The pole is so the "snow plow" driver knows where the edge of the road is.

100_2930.jpg

100_2932.jpg

100_2931.jpg

Our last stop before heading back to the ship.

100_2944.jpg

LIARSVILLE is a replica of how the miners and other explorers lived during the Gold Rush.

The most important "TENT".

100_2934.jpg

A house?

100_2935.jpg

The "BLACKSMITH".

100_2936.jpg

The "TAILOR".

100_2937.jpg

They put on a small skit and also show you how to pan for gold.

100_2940.jpg

A few try to "Strike it Rich".

100_2941.jpg

Back at the Ship.

100_2945.jpg

Up next a little later. We head to JUNEAU

The views are beautiful, Dave and I'd love to see all of this someday. I just don't know if I could go on a cruise and see snow instead of white sand and palm trees. We did talk about taking the MH out there but fuels prices have messed with those plans too. :(

My concern about taking the MH was the roads and beating the s--t out of it. We had a chance to take a couple caravans but they were 6-7 weeks and almost double the cost of the cruise plus fuel. (Which meant I would have had to cook as well :rofl3: )
