Fiend on the scene... and a bear too
keith_h replied to rdancemom... Pam's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I lived in Bedford when I was younger and remember taking school field trips to Sturbridge. My Dad was also known for taking long drives and more than once we ended up there as well. -
What do the lizards look like? I recall seeing Skinks around my folks old house in Bardstown. They are a fairly common species in Kentucky. To keep them out of your house you need to follow the same rules you do to keep out mice and other rodents. Make sure you block any small holes they can enter through the foundation and around doors and windows. Make sure your drier vent flapper is in working order. Control bugs in and around the house. To get it out of your house I would suggest a broom, large bucket and a cover. Have one person use the broom to get it into the bucket and another to c

We just added a TV to our trailer. We went with a Samsung 22". As has been mentioned all current TV's will handle cable channels but will need to be setup at each new location. The same goes for standard DTV channels. If you have an antenna and are prep'ed for cable you should have a box that will switch you between the two. As we have about as many Blu-ray disks as DVD's we plan to get a Blu-Ray player to attach to the TV. We also plan to get a player that supports internet streaming support so we can stream Netflix and Amazon. Toshiba has a unit that is 8"X8"X2" Blu-ray/media player that lo

That looks like a fun project. For some reason I like the feel of older vehicles. Looking forward to seeing how your project progresses. -

Here's ours. It is our first TT after many years of being tenters. It's been nice to have everything pre-packed and ready to go whenever we decide to take a trip. -
Lake Powhatan campground near Asheville, NC is the same way. You have large accessible restrooms that are single person and separate large accessible showers. Both have plenty of room for an assistant to be there as well. It was also one of the better kept restroom facilities I have seen. They would clean them multiple times a day or on demand if you notified the campground host they were not up to par.

General questions about loop 1200 or similar loops
keith_h replied to keith_h's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
I found the maps, video and such when I first came to the site. As matter of fact it quite impressed me with the amount of info so readily available. I didn't see anything that said 1200 didn't have sites that backed up to the road but I did see folks saying it was a quieter area and from the maps I could see it wasn't near noisier areas like the pool or basket ball courts. My intent is to request an inner circle or back campsite. If there are similar loops I figure it doesn't hurt to throw them in with my request to increase the odds of getting a campsite with the majority of our preferences. -

Well it's done. Made reservations for 10/19 through 10/23. Now it's just waiting for day to pass. -

The hurricane part was a bit tongue in cheek. Forgot the smiley. The look at delaying has more to do with temperature and rain. Looked up the October averages and it just seems a better time to go. Now I have to see how the overall costs compare and what my wife's schedule looks like. I've been through several hurricanes myself since we moved here in 1992. Always been lucky that the falling trees missed the house. Fran actually saved us the trouble of having to power wash the house. I had never seen the brick so clean. ^-^ -
General questions about loop 1200 or similar loops

I live with the humidity here at home but for us mid-September is when we start to cool down and dry out .... Ponchos and umbrellas are permanently stored in the TT. I'm less concerned with rain than I am a hurricane. September is the big month and we are heading to the number one place to find one. Might see about pushing it back a couple of more weeks into mid-October -

Thanks for the responses. Our normal daily walks are four to five miles although we have been known to cut them short during our NC summers. A mile won't be that much especially since we will be going in the fall when it should be cooler. Planning to make reservations today for a Sunday through Thursday trip the end of September. -
First off let me say I was glad I saw pointers to this site from the Forest River Forums. I've been able to read a lot about FW and find things I never would have thought about. My wife and I are planning a trip to the MK in early October. We haven't been to the Orlando area since the children grew up and my brother passed away. Must be going on twelve years or so. We have never stayed inside the park as my brother always comp'ed us free rooms at the hotel he managed. This time we thought we would take the TT and stay inside the park to see what it is like. This brings up a some questions (d
