  1. Depending upon where your campsite is you might be able to pickup WiFi. We had a site in the 1300 loop close enough to The Meadows that we were able to use the WiFi. While the signal was not good enough for streaming it was adequate for doing some e-mail and web browsing.
  2. +2 What Carol said. We don't do anything different at The Fort than we would at any campsite. This last time we were at The Fort I had not shut off the propane tank as usual and came back to having had someone turn on our grill letting the gas run. My guess it was some kid playing around. We have a manual awning and will just lower it some before we leave so water will run off if it rains while we are out.
  3. I think bikes are good choice with having kids with you. When Rene and I were down there this past October we did not rent a cart or have bikes and walked most of the time or took the bus when we didn't feel like walking when coming back late from the parks. Compared to the walks and hikes we take at home The Fort is a breeze being level and pretty much organized along the main road.
  4. Do I see a blow up Santa? If so I hope they have it unplugged by 10:00 PM.
  5. Every time I see this thread in the list it reminds me that our TT is due for a wash.
  6. It's getting close to the nightly cost we would consider someplace else if we were not doing the parks. For now the ability to leave the car parked and take Disney transportation around the resort offsets the savings at other facilities. I also prefer to stay at a known entity than someplace I haven't been to or seen.
  7. No I haven't. After sending Disney their share there is none left for FWG. I could muster up a couple of chickens and goat if that would be acceptable.
  8. You might consider the 3000 loop too. I keep hearing it is really something special although I have yet to find where it is located. :rofl2:
  9. What you have (i.e. Class A, TT, 5th wheel): TT - Palomino 142CK Palomini, overall length from coupler to back bumper 19 ft If you're towing (so TT or 5th wheel) how heavy is it: 2600 dry weight, 3600 gross weight, 3000-3100 loaded weight If you tow, what is your tow vehicle: 2001 4dr Ford Explorer 4.0 V6 Gas mileage: 10 - 12 mpg towing, 19 - 20 mpg not towing in mixed suburban/city driving Do you like it, love it or hate it: Empty nesters and our first trailer. Generally like the layout with permanent bed and dinette and are happy with purchase. If you'd like to make a change, change to wh
  10. I'll second or is it third the Territory Lounge for a nightcap and nosh. Rene and I stopped in there to relax while awaiting our reservations at Artist Point and actually preferred our time there over the dinner.
  11. This is my first post in a while due to personal happenings but have to chime in. I don't consider a lot of these people campers by the traditional definition. Unfortunately the camping world has been infiltrated by partiers who aren't there for the overall experience but to be able to brag about how much they put away over the weekend. I even see the same behavior in our state parks but it is generally squashed quickly due to the rangers frequently patrolling the campground particularly around quiet time.
  12. Given the state of networks at The Fort I don't see any electronic payment system as cost effective and a mechanical change would be more likely. I also noticed the ice machines we saw have been around the block a few times. This leads me to believe they are either milked due to low operational costs that they want to keep that way or as a self funding amenity that no one cares about as long as it doesn't affect the balance sheet one way or the other. As long as it is one or the other I still think any price changes are unlikely. I suspect this is a situation where we will have to agree to dis
  13. Both the change over to a token dispensing machine, a larger chute or an RFID chip reader would require additional equipment or changing out the chute. I'm not saying it isn't possible that Disney would not do it just that it is highly unlikely.
  14. It's a mechanical mechanism but I seem to recall it only has eight coin slots so that limits it to $2 unless they change out the mechanism or make folks use $1 coins.
  15. I haven't because it appears to be tied into iTunes which I won't subscribe to.
  16. We paid $2.00 at the machine in the 1300 loop when we were there the middle/end of October.
  17. I try to pay attention. In reality you and I aren't that much different when it comes to cell phones other than you've had yours longer. We just got one this last September since we are traveling more and need a way for my mother or sister to get hold of us in case Mom has an emergency. It also has a camera which makes Rene happy, keeping her happy is very important, as she likes to take pictures. Other than the camera we've used it 4 or 5 times to make calls.
  18. I think they look nice and fit the overall theme of Main Street.
  19. That would mean Lou would have to find his phone located somewhere on his car's seat. Oh the horrors.
  20. Only after I started my own business in my teens and we had moved off base. Prior to that it was manual reel mowers supplied by the military for those of us that lived in base housing.
  21. Your a youngin. I still recall the consternation I had when trying to figure out how to bill my lawn mowing customers after gas went from 18 cents to 20 cents a gallon.
