  1. As I said I believe in putting some antifreeze in the black and grey tanks to prevent freezing near the dump valves. I don't worry about the residual water in the fresh water tank and it will have room to expand.
  2. Maybe it wasn't Disney and just some disgruntled camper that made up the flier.
  3. We were at The Fort for our first time last week. We had requested the 1200 or 1300 loop and ended up with a site in the 1300 loop that backed up to the canal across from the sand volley ball court and pool area. During daylight hours it was fairly active and somewhat noisy but not too bad. The afternoon pool party can be annoying but it was over by 5PM. In the morning before people arrive at the pool we saw Ibis, Storks, Egrets and Blue Heron feeding along the canal. Getting to the pool, campfire and movie is very easy and takes about 5 minutes to walk. Both the CS and bus stop are easy to ge
  4. Thanks for the link. If I had known that was there I might have put on some overalls, borrowed an old blood hound and rented a canoe to paddle up the canal just to show them how the other half live. :thtray:
  5. I forgot to add a warning about your water heater. If you have a dual gas/electric unit make sure you turn the electric heating portion off before draining the tank. Usually there is a switch on the backside of the water heater behind the exterior cover. Failure to do this can result in burning out the heating element. Sorry I didn't think of this sooner but my unit is all gas so it is something I don't normally think about.
  6. My first step is to drain the hot water heater. To drain you remove the anode and let the tank drain. Once drained I reinstall the anode. Since our winter campgrounds have bath houses and the water heater uses a lot of propane I would rather use to heat the trailer I bypass the water heater until spring. This is also the time I drain my drinking water tank and run the pump dry since they are in the same compartment as the water heater bypass . All running dry means is I run the pump until no more water comes out. I also open the hot and cold drain lines under my trailer and remove any water th
  7. One of the sites near us had a motion sensing pop up ghoul that they setup near the garbage can. While it didn't bother me the times they didn't turn off their display I suspect it might have disturbed others. We too found the lights nice coming back to our campsite late at nite.
  8. Don't forget to run your pump dry as blowing the lines will not nessecarily remove water in it and drain your hot water and drinking water tanks. I plan to do what Dave has said above since we intend to use the trailer throughout the winter. We have lived in colder climates where we had sprinkler systems that we only blew out without problems and I see no reason for the trailer to be different with the exception of making sure the pump is clear of water.
  9. Our neighborhood has aged out of Trick or Treaters. We still buy a bag in the event we get some visitors, usually get a few, but most of the neighbors have stopped. Halloween just isn't as fun without the kids coming by. :-[
  10. Funny you mention this. Rene and I were talking about this same thing when we were at the MK last week running around trying to use our Fast Passes.
  11. When our children were small we lived in a rural neighborhood of 5 houses. The only way our kids had a chance to Trick or Treat was for us to drive into town and find a neighborhood with lots of kids. Later after we moved into town we would see a number of kids from outside the neighborhood. Our opinion was who cares as the whole idea was for the kids to have fun. As far as the articles they remind me of that TV show where they setup fake situations in public places to see how bystanders react.
  12. The display looks great from the pictures wish we could have seen it in person. The Haunted Mansion is our favorite MK ride. I still get a kick out of my youngest daughter getting upset when she was little with the hitch hiking ghosts. This was when they sat in your car (or lap) so it appeared they were really with you as long as you looked in the mirror.
  13. I think it depends upon the kiosk. When we were at the MK we found many of the kiosks had fairly long lines but we only waited a short time for the kiosk station located at the Jungle Cruise. I agree however that FP usefulness really depends upon the stand by wait time and we found that some FP lines weren't really that much faster.
  14. Nothing like ruining my day. Might have to make a detour on our trip to Florida next week.
  15. The day they come out with a cinnamon roll beer is the day I blow up the brewery that did it. Oh the horror just thinking about it.
  16. You couldn't get me to drink a pumpkin beer. While I'm not fond of the pie spices they add I can live with it. Where the problem comes in for me is the pumpkin itself making the beer taste musty. And I hear you on the holiday skew. It's like they are following the professional sports lead and keep extending the season until they overlap for months at a time. :banghead:
  17. I usually don't have any problems going to sleep a earlier than normal to wake up early. Before I retired I could work any hours I wanted and usually started my day around 6AM being more of a morning person. While 4AM is early it is tolerable given the destination. I've always been one of those that prefers to make a marathon drive to get to where I'm going. I found it actually had advantages when our kids were young. When we lived in the Bay Area we frequently made trips to Southern CA to visit family. The girls learned early on the trip went faster if they slept most of the way and became
  18. We're on the opposite end of Wake County between Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina. I'm glad to hear my estimate is close. This means we should be able to leave around 4AM and still arrive at The Fort early enough to have some downtime. My thanks to everyone who responded.
  19. I saw that video and like the idea. Just set up a chair, sit back with a beverage and back the TT in. I would be just like a kid getting a remote control car Christmas morning (except for the beverage).
  20. It's a short stay. We check in 10/19 and out 10/23. While I'm retired my wife hasn't reached that point and a week off is about all she can manage. We also want to stop and see Savannah since we've never been there before so the plan is to spend Friday there and return home on Saturday. This gives us Sunday to relax before Rene goes back to work. Have I mentioned I like to have time to relax? :oregonian_winesmiley:
  21. Don't practice. Just walk around and collect admission from everyone before the entertainment begins.
