JW Marriot Hotel to be built on WDW property
Starbuc71 replied to AuburnJen's topic in Disney and Fort Construction
I'm all for this. As a former Marriott employee, I love seeing new hotels from them, especially their higher end. Also you state if we need more luxury hotel beds,......hell yes! These hotels are great. Depending on the time of year or just in a blue moon, you can get a JW room for close to $100-$150 a night. You will never even get port orleans that cheap...ever. The wife and I did the JW at Grande Lakes for our anniversary and we got 3 nights for $350 through Trivago. I remember when the Grand Floridian opened and they would give Florida residents a $79 a night discount. You will never -
FYI. Just got back from Up the Creek campgrounds in Pigeon Forge. I have to tell you. This is probably one of the nicest campgrounds we've stayed at. The only cons are that they do not have a pool, no bath house or laundry and no playground or kids activities. It's nothing like jellystone/yogi bear but if you want a very well kept campground that is 5 minutes from the parkway but feels like your in the middle of the GSMNP. This is the place to be. I was going to do a trip report but with the whole Photobucket thing, I guess I'm not. They actually have about 6 sites that are pull in only for motorhomes so you see the Creek out your front window. Take care

Bikes vs. Golf Cart
Starbuc71 replied to OutdoorsNY's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Renting a cart is surely the way to go, but cart rental prices can cost you as much as the campsite it's self (well, use to). Being lucky enough to be able to take a golf cart with us, ours has paid for itself twice over already. If you don't own your own cart, I would definitely do the bike thing over paying the high disney rental price -
Is Brazil the New Country Coming to EPCOT?
Starbuc71 replied to AuburnJen's topic in Disney Rumors Board
Im all for Russia, Poland or Ukraine. They would never do them just because of politics, but boy would it make for a good menu theme restaurant. I can taste the perogies and the borscht soup as I type -
Once again Andrew, great trip report. I have to give you kudos on the FP for Pandora. Only you can pull that off. I said it once and I'll say it again, it's so great the kids still enjoy Disney...and you too. People at my work look at me crazy when I say we're are going to Disney or I'm making dinner reservations 6 months out. I guess you need your own reasons for loving the mouse. We still love Disney, but just can't fathom the prices. I know things go up but it's ruining Walts dream for a place everyone can enjoy. It look like we only have one trip to the fort scheduled this year. Maybe n

Did I just pay $175 for a campsite?
Starbuc71 replied to Starbuc71's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
True that. I think we are on our 6th trailer in 10 years -
Did I just pay $175 for a campsite?
Starbuc71 replied to Starbuc71's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
As much as I love camping, and I love camping at the fort, I think it's getting too much. Not sure if we will sell the camper. I know a ton of you will chime in that the fort is not the only campground in the county, but living an hour and a half away, we were spoiled. We leave for Pigeon Forge on Friday for a beautiful campground with cement pads, fire pits and beautiful grills for $45 a night -

Ratatouille Ride Coming to Epcot? CONFIRMED
Starbuc71 replied to DaveInTN's topic in Disney Rumors Board
How stupid. Did all the Disney execs and imagineieers come through the world gateway entrance and not the main one? Future world is in desperate, desperate need of upgrade or something added. The innovation buildings, the figment ride and the land need to almost be leveled and reimagined. The world showcase is good already. Oh, and how about the concrete pile they called the Odyssey restaurant or they decaying horizons pavilion. -
I know I'm a complainer but I just went to book 7 nights during spring break for March 2018 and the premium sites were $175 a night. WTF????? This is starting to get out of hand. Then the best part was I went to book Thanksgiving week (2018 to remind you) and each tier of campsite is not available. Double WTF.... coming very close to selling the RV

I have to disagree on your friends saying to skip Epcot next time. Everyone has a choice or an opinion and ours is that Epcot is our favorite park. I will agree, they have no idea what future world is or what it's going to be but the world showcase is a gem all by itself. You are right about thrill seekers. If you're going to pay upwards near $125 for a one day ticket, you want more than French pastries and Ellen yelling "stupid Judy" from the 90s in universe of energy. We were over the MK with the crowds and actually my kids were also. I guess with our AP it's nice to walk Epcot and have din

I agree with all of you. Epcot was a place of learning, imagination and working twords the future, but now it's too far gone to get it back to that. We rode journey into imagination on Saturday for the first time in years. I know nothing has changed on that ride in years, but to me, it's a Epcot classic that was never a classic to begin with. It's a good start for an awesome refurb

Trails End Bufett Resevations
Starbuc71 replied to naptowncamper's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
ALWAYS make a reservation at any Disney Restaurant. You never know when any restaurant will take walk-ins or not. Trails end is usually The easiest for a walk up if it's no busy. Dining reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance and can be canceled 24 hours before your reservation without a penalty. Be our Guest, Ohana and chef Mickeys are usually the ones to book months out -
What a great thread. I'm not going to carry on with my usual negative rant since almost all of you hit the nail on the head. But I will reiterate this; Yes, the magic is still there, yes the fort is still in the top 3 campgrounds in the US, yes society is changing and does not stop at Disney, yes definitely the more you go, the more negative you see, yes we all think Disney management could improve and yes for some reason we keep going back. As DIT will tell you Disney could learn a lot from Dolly Parton and her theme park. Customer service should always be number one. Of course bottom

The idiots have arrived en masse
Starbuc71 replied to ImDownWithDisney's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
You are exactly right. Why would Disney care if you slept there or not. It's all about the bottom line. The thing that stinks is that it ruins it for people who actually like to camp and experience the fort. I think card readers at the pool would be a great thing but it will never happen. We had dinner reservations at trails end last night, all the guard asked for when I said I had dinner reservations is my photo ID. He looked at it and said park to your right. There should be a card reader there to prove we had a reservation. I can't tell you the number of coolers and towels being dragged ba -
The idiots have arrived en masse
Starbuc71 replied to ImDownWithDisney's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I heard two rumors the other day and don't know if they are true 1. I hear people will reserve a campsite at the fort just to get access to magic bands, Advance dinner reservations and fast passes. Then they never show up for the reservation. That's the rumor why you will see empty sites at prime times 2. Have you ever seen a site with vehicles, items on the picnic tables but no tents or campers. I have and people now say large family or friend groups will get a site together for the above items and also access to the pool and transportation I declare this BS if true. I
