Good point. I would add, however, that hedge fund managers and insiders are also raking it in, while Joe Sixpack shareholders twist in the wind.

Updated your post to modern business theory. While shareholders might get to ride along I think most modern corporations are designed to do nothing more than to enrich the executive corps. If you need proof look at the number of companies where shareholders lose value but executive pay increases.

The fact that it sounds even remotely reasonable for the price to have doubled in 6 years is proof that we’ve lost our collective minds.  Housing prices have doubled.  The price of a steak has doubled. The price of a Disney vacation has doubled.  Has your income doubled?  If it has, good for you.  But I bet most people would answer no.  I know we all make decisions and prioritize spending based on what’s important to us, and I am not criticizing anyone for choosing to spend their money at WDW.  I just don’t see how this is sustainable in the big picture.

Ahh...I think I missed you selling your trailer.  Sorry to hear that.  Hopefully another will be in your future, sooner rather than later
I always think this will Chick-fil-A.  Rarely do I see one of their locations, that is not busy....if not, SUPER, busy.  Rarely to I walk into one of their locations where the store is not clean and the staff is not incredibly kind.  I try to send them comments from time to time, encouraging them not to change.  Sure, it costs more than other fast-food establishments, but the quality is also so much higher.  The same with Hobby Lobby.  Clean stores.  Nice staff.  Good prices.  Both of these companies are such great examples, of how a company should be ran.  Disney use to be there... but they are sliding

This is the group Disney is going after. They have with high levels of disposable income and are willing to part with it to get what they want.

The pricing structure at the Fort is crazy.  For 2017, rack rates for a premium site start at a minimum of $101 a night for some off times, but jump to as high as $183 a night at Christmas (these prices include the 12.5% tax that you have to pay).  It's the same exact site.  Disney charges so much more at high demand times because they can:

I started this topic so I guess I can be one to blame....lol. We love Disney and we wished our family could be like TCDs one day and still enjoy the parks and the fort when my kids were in their 20s.  But, it does not look like that will happen.  As some of you know, I can come off like a complainer or a Debbie downer more often than I should. I run a large organization and am number one in my market because of a few things. Customer service being one, training employees the proper way and holding people accountable to rules and regulations......while also making a high profit margin line.  It's not rocket science.  It business 101.   Disney looks at it a bit differently. If you cut staff. You do it in a way you save money without a lack in service and the guest have no idea and don't see it. Disney cuts staff and it shows to the guest but they know that the guest that get pissed and upset will just be replaced by guest that don't care.  Look at walmart, scumbag capital of big box stores.  People don't care.   You get my point.
I will definitely miss the fort and camping there. Maybe we could be classified as locals who can come for the day and use the pool.  NEVER.  That's not following the rules.  I make a good living but $1400 for a campsite for 7 days just can't fit in our budget anymore. TCD hooked himself up right by being able to score CM pricing at the fort since his daughter works for Disney.  Lucky you.  And also the great busdriver known as Lou back in the day would also cash in on that CM discount.  We will still eat at trails end from time to time and who knows with me. We may get another RV a long way down the road.

Perhaps we just disagree on the term disney bashing.   None of your complaints you just posted are "Disney bashing".
They are legitimate complaints that Disney should addresse.   And as Disney World fans, we have the right to complain about them.    And I have a feeling someone in Fort management read these forums.  And that's why I don't think discussing complaints is a waste of time
And im sorry to those who think talking about WDW short comings shouldn't be discussed.   Just remember we discuss a lot more things we love about WDW then  ings we don't like.
Also. I don't remember characterizing you as throwing a "hissy fit".  But I humbly apologize.

I agree with almost everything you said.
Except the "Disney bashing".  Are we not allowed to discuss and complain about policies, rules and pricing disney has put into place?    Most people that have posted are not happy about the ever increasing prices and cuts in service.   That doesn't mean we are bashing Disney.
Most people didn't like when they took away the hola hoops.  Or removed the old mower. Where they disney bashing?  No.
The fact is disney has raised prices and it's pushed some people out of the fort.  Or forced them to cut back.
Does Disney have the right to do this?  Absolutely.
And everyone has to decide what's best for their vacation dollar.
But please don't try and shut people down by saying they are disney bashing.   We all love the Fort and Disney.  And we all want to see it prosper and grow.

I haven't heard of this.   So if I opt out of having my room cleaned one day they will give me a gift card?

I'm here now and it's like night and day since the weekend started. Cars parked everywhere, music blaring from golf carts, looks to be under age kids driving carts. I'm pretty sure we won't be back for a long time. The prices are getting past anything we can afford and it's like we are second class to the rest of the resorts. Much less the riff raff going on. The restrooms aren't being cleaned. Yea they come in and pick up and maybe wipe down the sink area but that's about it. I see the same shit on the walls for 2 days and that's after I called them about it. Well if they were getting cleaned properly it I wouldn't have had to call to start with. Then they removed a stall door and just left.  Again I called and asked if maybe they might find one somewhere else and put back on it. The shower stalls don't look to be getting any cleaning either. Just my small rant for what it's worth.

I don't understand parents of young kids these days.

After all we have heard about, how can they let their kids run around unsupervised in a place where they have no idea who might be camping in the next campsite?

I see it all the time at the Fort.  On the trips we've had Rocky with us, it never fails that we have kids who are way too young to be out on their own show up at our site wanting to pet the dog, etc.  Are parents stupid?  Anyone can rent a campsite at the Fort.  Bad people too.  And how many of these unsupervised little kids are good swimmers?  What if one of them wanders off an falls in a canal?  I've seen kids who can barely pedal a bike riding around on little bikes with training wheels, no helmet, in the middle of the road with cars coming around the loop.  Where are their parents?

I never let my kids out of my site when they were little.  I don't even like letting them out of my site now, and they're all adults.

Has anyone determined who exactly this Luckow family is?

We read earlier that they are from NJ.  I'm making an assumption that it is the family of Robert Luckow, as he would have the financial means to pull this off.

Robert Luckow was the CEO of Spear Leeds and Kellogg....which was a large specialist firm at the New York Stock Exchange.  In 2000, Goldman Sachs purchased Spear Leeds for $6.5 Billion.  Luckow earned hundreds of millions of dollars, if not a Billion dollars, on that sale.  There's nothing wrong with that.  Only, there is.  The NYSE subsequently barred Mr Luckow for life after an investigation into his firm's trading practices.  And yet he remains free to enjoy the spoils of his work.  Why?  Well, is it a coincidence that the Senior Managing Director of his firm, who netted $300 Million from the sale to Goldman, was Todd Christie?  Yes, as in the brother of NJ Governor Chris Christie.

So, while I don't know for sure that this is the same family as the one celebrating tonight at the Fort, it sure seems plausible.  I hope they are enjoying themselves.
