I agree with what you’re saying.
but please educate yourself on how to properly wear and handle a mask.  If you handle it incorrectly you will still spread germs.
Thank you for this advice that I have already done.

I wear a mask when I go into a store that requires it.   Or a store that is busy.
I wear a mask when I leave my car.  And I do not go many places anyway.

In Oklahoma the guideline is to wear a mask when you can’t stay 6’ away from others.

it’s not mandatory and I like the fact that it’s not the government telling us what to do.  I agree with Nacole, I’m not mad that a private business tells me to wear a mask. But it bothers me that government does.

As far as WDW is concerned.   We are not going until everything is back open.  Attractions, resorts, restaurants, bars, etc.

Not because I’m worried about catching covid19 or giving it to anyone, because if we can’t do the fun things we like to do what’s the point.

And if they open everything back up and we have to wear a mask, ok we will wear one,  if not we won’t.

I think back to when seat belts for cars first came out.  Our car didn't have them, it was older, so I bought them for the front seat and made my parents wear them.  I was good with  the government telling me to wear one and very happy when they were automatically put in back seats too.  People who ride motorcycles and don't wear helmets , in my opinion, are not making a wise choice.   Btw I am 78 years old.

  2. From what I understand, me wearing a mask probably will not protect me from catching the covid-19 virus.  But If I have the virus and cough or sneeze, it will help other people a lot by keeping the germs near my face and they will not travel several feet from me.  Thereby helping keep others from catching this disease.

I have read what others have gone through when they have been sick with covid-19 and do not want to find out for myself if they are being truthful or not.

The only cure/help, as I see it, will be when a vaccination is available for those willing to be vaccinated.   Even though I know several people who don't get the flu vaccine I hope most of us do.

    Too Funny

I don't have anywhere to go, but I'm thinking about driving up and down I-4 to see what it's like to go over 30 MPH!

Many parents are just about to discover the teacher was not the problem!

Been homeschooling a 6 and 8 year old for 1 hour and 11 minutes.  Teachers deserve to make a billion dollars a year... or a week.

That moment when you're worried about the elderly and realize that you are the elderly.

Maybe now society will realize we can make it without celebrities and professional athletes, but we can't make it without farmers and ranchers.  Or retail clerks and blue collared tradespeople!

Had to laugh out loud, really loud, about the driving I-4.

YES teachers are not paid anywhere near what they are worth.

A few weeks ago I was ticked because someone was treating me like a little old lady.  Then I remembered how old I am(78) and thought,

Oh yeah, I am a little old woman, sometimes I'm a lady ;)

Thanks.  Yes, I miss the easy days of crossing the border... of course, this if the first time with an RV.  It's a bit of a pain so, Banff better be amazing.  LOL😅

My husband and my parents and I took a train ride many years ago across Canada.  One of the stops was Banff, beautiful.  Was much easier back then to cross the border.

I'm not sure it's ridiculous.  We were all joking about lines all the way up to New York for this new land when it opened.  If the system was not set up this way, we would be seeing 8 hour lines or more for the ride.  90 minutes is reasonable, considering. Galaxies Edge is by far the biggest, most popular expansion of a Disney park, ever.  There are so many Star Wars fans out there that want to experience this that Disney is going to be making bank on it for years. Most of us were smart enough to plan our vacations for AFTER the entire area was opened, and we are seeing the influx of those fans now.  I made my plans for a year after the planned opening, hoping the newness would wear off a bit.  Now, I'm wondering if I should have waited another year.

No other expansion to a park is coming with a completely themed resort and special Role Playing packages, you know?

It sucks for the CMs who are blocked out, I agree.  However, since those same employees were given special days to ride the ride before it opened, I don't see the restrictions as unreasonable.

Retired cast never got a 'pass' to ride this before or after it opened.

  6. I agree TCD, our phone gurus kept checking their phones and it was to see IF the ride had stopped.  All was good, all day the ride kept working, then our # came up and we made our way over to the ride.  OOPS it had just stopped :( rats.    We also were one of the first groups to cheer after the 8am opening of the reservations.  We were #51 or 53, in that area anyway,   So even if you have a really fast phone and operator of said phone, you don't automatically get a low number.  Lottery system indeed.

The Womenz rode Saturday. We were all in the park 30 minutes before opening. We got into the masses and also parked ourselves near one of the Blue umbrellas guest experience staff. We did manage to get 7 of the  8 of us in a backup boarding group. For some reason, person number 8 wasn't on our list. We then turned to the Blue umbrella person and they were able to add our number 8 person. We then proceeded to Smugglers Run and then the rest of our day. Our boarding group was called about 3:30 pm, but we were in Muppets, so when we left Muppets, we headed over, and the ride had shut down. Instead of waiting near the entrance like lemmings, we decided to go to Rontos Roasters for a snack and a seat. Once it started up again, we went back over and had about a 90 minute time in line due to about 8 boarding groups showing up at once. The ride was amazing, but it was stressful. My 2 year old Note 8 never even showed the button to register for a boarding group. In the future, I'm going to park myself near the Blue Umbrella, hand them our Magic Bands, and let them put us in a group.

Retired cast are blocked out of HS through April and I won't be surprised if the blocking goes all summer.  I want to give a big THANK YOU to the WWz who got together and bought me a ticket to HS so I could join them last Saturday.  I had a really good time and was thankful for the ones with experience and fast phones so we were able to ride.  I look forward to the days when WDW gets the ride working consistently and has something newer to draw people away from HS.

I have not been to the Fort's dog park, but I have owned and loved whippets since 1983.  I've had over 8 whippets in my life, and fostered a dozen others for whippet rescue.

Since you have over a year to plan here are my suggestions for your new whippet family member:

Teach your whippet to respect baby gates in your house.  If the dog learns not to jump a baby gate, they generally will not jump a short fence.

Make a flirt pole and teach your pup to love it.  I use a buggy whip ( bought at a feed store) with a 4 foot length of rope on it.  I have a rubber donut tied on the end, to which I attach a cured rabbit skin ( can be found at hobby lobby or craft stores).    You can use the flirt pole at the dog park if you are the only dog in the place or if there is an open area where other dogs are over 25 yards away.  Most dogs don't go after flirt poles.  10 minutes of flirt pole play, 20 minutes of walking or regular play then 10 more minutes of flirt pole play will make for a tired whippet.

Invest in a 30 foot long lead.  This can also be found at a feed store, as a horse lunge line.  When you are out in a big field where there are no fences, you can stand on the end of the lunge line and still safely play with the flirt pole.  Caveat:  Never play fetch with any loose toy while the dog is on the lunge line.  If the toy gets away, the dog may hit the end of that leash going 35 MPH, and that is dangerous.

Use the lunge line to practice recalls and check ins.   Let the dog roam to the end of the leash, then call them back and have a spectacular reward waiting ( like steak / liver / stinky cheese)  Praise, reward and then let the dog roam off again.  Also, invest in a loud whistle that you can take with you on walks.  Teach the dog to come to the whistle, both on and off leash, with the same spectacular reward.  Whistle sounds carry further than human voice, and if your whippet ever gets lost this is a great way to help them find their way back to you.

Using Doggy Day Care at Best Friends may also be a good bet.  If you get your pup in on the first or second day of your vacation, it should keep them tired for 2 days after.  If you whippet is less than 2 years at the time of your trip, s/he'll have a great time at day care.  If they are over 2 years, you can expect them to be a little more reserved around other 'non sighthound' dogs, but still have a good time at day care.  Whippets are snobs, and prefer socializing with other whippets / greyhounds / sighthounds as they get older.  They will start to ignore other breeds.

Feel free to message me if you would like any other whippet related tips.

WOW what a bunch of neat ideas.  I had no idea about whippets.

We are starting to plan a trip to WDW sometime next year. By that time we will likely have a new family member and I was wondering about a couple of things related to our four legged friends. We are working on getting a Whippet. I'm not concerned so much about when we are away as we are going to crate train the dog. While they are couch potatoes during much of the day they only stay that way with some vigorous exercise each day. My concern is more about exercise for a dog that hits 35 mph before you can blink your eyes.

    - What is the height of the fence at the Fort Wilderness dog park? While many Whippets aren't jumpers some are (especially of they see a squirrel or rabbit they want to bring home for your dinner).

    - Are there any other fenced/confined places where I could take the dog out for a while to run off the excess energy? Doesn't have to do with WDW specific and we would be looking at a fence height of 5 feet or more.

I'm also planning to call Best Friends to see what they might have available for day use as some of their rates don't look too bad for a vacation.

There is a dog park at The DR. Phillips park.  I'll have to check fence height, don't know if big enough to make a whippet tired.
