  1. I havent yet stayed in the 1500 loop but we did "scope" it out while we visited last year and I can see positivies and negatives. If you want to be in the middle of it all, and your a tent person, it's great. I sorta enjoyed the "distance" of the 2000 loop from all the activity. Now if we were cartless I wouldnt even consider the 2000 loop, I do not have the patience with 5 kids to wait on the buses. Once I get the kids down for the night, I could kick back and sit in my chair and actually feel like I was "camping" of course it did get a little loney sometimes but it was quite. No issues
  2. I wrap it in heavy duty foil, smother it in whatever strikes up my fancy at the moment, (butter, salt pepper, or parmesean cheese, or italian dressing..) and just lay it on there, you dont want to put it on direct heat, takes about 45 minutes but it's yum yum yummy!!
  3. The Walmart here sells dry ice, you have to be careful with it because it will burn.. (as I found out the hard way) I'm going to educate myself before our next camping trip and figure out how to keep it from melting, someone said wrap in newspaper.. We are taking the kids camping for memorial day weekend in Tennessee so that will be my first attempt, I'll let you know how that goes :wiz:
  4. All awesome ideas, I had trouble last year with my cooler and dry ice, I had read that people were able to keep foods frozen all week with a good cooler and dry ice but my melted in like 2 days, I'm sure I didnt do something right however. I have one of those little plug in type coolers that was great for keeping things cool, not really cold but cool enough to keep them from spoiling. This year I have a little fridge that I'm bringing. We decided to stick to a tent for one more year at least but we didnt by a utility trailer to haul all the stuff so this year I can bring the fridge! I've
  5. what kind of cheese did you pack? My kids love the cubes but I'm not sure they would hold up in the heat. I'm curious as to what type of bag you carreid all your stuff in? Did you use ice packs?
  6. I usually take drink mix packets and our own water bottles into the park to cut down on soda consumption and save mama some $$$ on water and such. I take crackers, granola bars and things of that nature for them to snack on, I'm just wondering if anyone has any neat ideas on other kinds of snacks that their kids love while visiting the parks?
  7. I can tell you what not to use.. those "pantry" style cabinets that most camping places sell, they are made out of a thick fabric.. You'd think a squirrel wouldnt be able to penetrate that but WRONGO!! Check out my trip report for a picture of mine AFTER the demon squirrel got ahold of some hamburger buns. He would only take the buns.. not the loaf bread, not crackers.. just hamgurger buns, go figure!!
  8. I havent used a travel agent yet but would love to.. So send her info my way! Last year I used the online reservations sytem initally, booked for me and four kids, I then called in and had my AAA discount applied.. it ALMOST worked right. When I checked in they didnt have my kids on the ressie any more.. they were attached to someone else!! Even though for about a split second I thought " ok sure.. let them have the savages.." (this was after a 12 hour drive from Alabama with 4 cranky kids) I came to my senses and decided I need my kids after all. The CM at check in fixed it but it took a w
  9. I just booked 7 days Halloween week for $245. Carol mentioned they were almost booked for that week already so get those reservations in if you need them!
  10. We only go to one park per trip. Last time was Magic Kingdom. This time, we are hoping to go to Epcot. It doesn't sound like much to some, but with all there is to do at Fort Wilderness, plus Downtown Disney, and touring other resorts, we have a blast! That is actually a brillant idea to do one park a trip, ecspecially with small kids and to be honest, I hadn't thought about touring the resorts until you posted that, most excellent idea! Last trip my kids chose to stay in the campground the last day instead of do a park. I'd love to hear more about your camping recipes, if i read correct
  11. well maybe there isnt.. I thought I read somewhere there was two but it doesnt matter, we shall still have a grand time! Are you able to get all of the kiddos on a a regular sized golf cart or are you renting a six seater from somewhere? I sorta think we will all fit, the 3 big kids in the back, baby on my lap and the 2year old between me and daddy.. but I worry about the Disney Po Po pulling us over. I have reserved a cart with Kenny but will continue to explore all my options. I had forgotten about he GC parade, now I have something to add to my "to do" list. Does your family do the p
  12. Night Vision Scope? No more half neked darts to the potty at 2am!!!!!
  13. My outdoor rugs, we are tent campers and hubby has given me such grief about bringing the carpets but I NEED THEM!!!! I love being able to walk out onto a nice carpet in the morning instead of fiddling with shoes and such.. it takes me a moment to get started... and my K-cup coffee maker... without these things I would be a bear in the mornings!!
  14. Thank you very much! We try to enjoy our life, they arent going to be young forever so as I have said before, I'm sucking all the time out of them i can while they still think mom is cool
  15. We're there Oct 31 thru Nov 6. We arrive on the 30. If they let us add the day on we will, no luck yet. We'll have to meet up. We are tent campers too. Check out the GG thread. That would be awesome, my 5, your 5, her 6.. that's a bunch of little bananas, we def deserve our own loop!! :)             Wow! I don't get the opportunity to be around other big families! That would be cool!!! I can see the kids line up picture now. LOL! Hoping for the 1500 Loop! and you? We a
  16. Thanks to everyone for the kind words, I apologize that in parts it's jumbled and seemed to flow in a awkard manner, when I was cutting and pasting from the other place I tried not to include others comments and yes, my little green eyed devil is rather adorable isnt he :) he sure keeps his mama hopping but I wouldnt have it any other way
  17. check out the "I'd rather be naked shirT Ok, well we sorta got side tracked from the trip report so I?m going to roll the ending all up into one. The bottom line is, my almost 2 year old just really didn?t like the crowds associated with the parks. He liked the characters a bunch, didn?t care much for the rides at all, liked the fireworks but the crowds associated with those things was more than he could handle. At first I felt bad for my 3 big kids but I have been blessed with patient and loving children who instead of feeling ?cheated? wanted to do things that their baby brother enjoyed
  18. We were finally ready to head to the Magic Kingdom, we had been at FW for 3 days now and were getting a little more ?settled?. My 2 year old was getting more comfortable with his surroundings which just generally makes life easier for all of us LOL. After the awesome ferry ride over, we made it into the park without to much drama. For some odd reason my finger print scan didn?t want to work, after the issues I had the previous day with getting tickets I almost had a breakdown positive that I was about to get told to get out or something of that nature. The CM was wonderful and let me th
  19. We chose to go to Hollywood studios fist because it was the only day that had EMH for this park during our stay. I should tell you that I had my agenda all planned out for the week. We had 6 day base tickets and I knew (in my mind) where we needed to be and when. However, I threw it out the window after day one.. you?ll understand why as we go along. We got up, cooked breakfast at the campsite (LOVE LOVE LOVE doing this) and we headed for the ferry. My kids thought the ferry between the parks was the coolest thing since sliced bread, so did I for that matter. I know your saying.. ?now wh
