WannaBeImagineer got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Rumor: WDW 5th Park New Flamingo Crossings?
I'm not going to speculate on a park just yet but...

It just so happens I discovered a permit application yesterday (it was submitted over the summer) where WDW was modifying their Environmental Permit.

It talked about various properties they have purchased around WDW including this one.

The main push was they are wanting to remove the wetland delineation from existing WDW property to make it available for development.  To do this they are creating a wetland mitigation area adjacent to their existing WDW wildlife preserve or whatever its called.  This is a huge deal and not easy the mitigation bank has to be maintained forever.

On another note I have seen a lot of projects applications for Flamingo Crossing but never look at them because I thought it was just some commercial strip mall.  I guess I should start looking at them.

I'll post a pic of the map shortly.

Look at the paddle boats and that dock, that's something else that's no longer there.

He there isn't any bark on the poles at Pioneer Hall here. I wonder how often they changed them out?
    For comparison

All this talk got me to wondering so I just logged in for the first time in forever onto that other website and it still worked...  I was there when everything went down and I thought it was all BS so I stopped posting and left the website.  Things are way better over here at FF.

You mean one of those people who say they went to Disneyland once but are really talking about Magic Kingdom and have no clue what the other Disney World parks are called. They think going to Disney World means standing in line at Magic Kingdom to ride Its a Small World, and why would any adult go to WDW.

We sent a wedding invite to Mickey and Minnie and got back a signed picture and congratulations pins, so I can testify it does work.  It was pretty nice actually and free, not very often you get free stuff from WDW.

It's really just my preference, not a one is better type thing.

I like the plug-play ability with Android to PC's.  I was not a fan of having to use iTunes for everything.  With Android I can drag and drop any media from anywhere just like playing with folders on a computer.  I prefer the operating system too.

I also think that today's Android phones HTC One and the new Samsung Galaxy's have a slight edge over iphones.

I think it really comes down to some people like Apple and some people like PC type products.  Some friends and family that have Mac's and Iphones will probably never leave the Apple world, at this point they are in so deep they don't want to lose everything they have on iTunes and that's fine, but some people also assume that Apple has the best and newest products and that's just not true.

I agree Mo, we've had horrible batteries on both, the HTC Evo was a dog, it would only get about 4 hours of heavy use on a battery, but my HTC One and Samsung S4 can go all day with very heavy use with no problem.

Shannon I know you stay up on your technology, you should really try android again the recent android software and phones over the last year or two are leaps and bounds over their original ones.  By the way the mobile web traffic is much closer these days, 53.1% ios to 44.5% android.

We like to dress up and it's pretty fun to sip a vodka martini (shaken not stirred) while in a tux ala James Bond style. :)

TCD, I think your right about the DVC capacity, at build out it will hold a lot of people.

    Time for some comparisons.

Someone had asked how much bigger this project is than Pioneer Hall, well I also compared it to Wilderness Lodge.

As you can see the Wilderness Lodge & Villas are in Red, River Country DVC is green and Pioneer Hall is blue.

Here's RC DVC overlaid on WL:

    And Pioneer Hall on WL

And Pioneer Hall on RC DVC:

    What do you think?

Bigger than expected or about what you thought?

I think River Country DVC is going to have 8 floors so its going to a massive structure but I think the entrance is going to be on the second floor if I remember correctly and I think it will blend in nicely with the trees they are planning to save.

CitaPita mentioned the campfires being crowded.

I'm sure some people will go to the Forts sing along, but these plans do show a campfire:

I pointed out some other items of interest, I don't know about you but a campfire overlooking the lake next to a bar sounds pretty nice.

I know this is going to drastically change the Fort but IF it ever gets built at least its going to be very nice with lots of cool features.

Reminder:  These plans are from Sept. 2011 and they all say schematic these weren't finalized for construction in 2011 and its now 2014 there's no telling when or if this project will happen.

    Very interesting stuff TCD.

Somewhere there is an architect letting some information out to the public.

Unless you've seen something that says otherwise it looks like all the plans were done in 2011?  That means they've been sitting for quite a while with no updates.

They also haven't moved forward with all the other phases of the project.

    There was:

Moving the TCD Barn Project # 2011-2A (just had a new roof put on the old barn)
Moving the BBQ Pavilion and golf cart parking - Project # 2011-2B
Wilderness Way Improvements Project # 2011-2C

For the record River Country DVC is Project # 2011-2
Grand Floridian DVC was Project #2011-1, they by passed River Country DVC in favor of the Poly DVC.  That makes sense though it was probably easier.

If they ever decide to move forward, they have a lot of construction ahead of them and still some permitting to do.  It's going to be years until its all complete.

Could you imagine if they did all the construction at once?

They would have major construction all around the Fort.

That would kind of ruin the peaceful wilderness setting for sure.

Here's the future land use map I was referring to.

A zoom of the Fort area:

You can see the light green color is the area to the west of River Country.

Also there is a brown line cutting through the light green, I'm assuming that allow them to develop a separate entrance to River Country DVC if they didn't want to use Wilderness Way.
Also on another topic, notice all the dark green areas that are conservation (preserved) that are going to stay conservation.  I think I read that there is 51% if the property that will never be developed, that includes that property south of Celebration though.

Here's a zoom of the legend.

    Thanks everybody!
Here's some more construction stuff for you. Its the project boundary shown on an aerial. I'm going to upload another print shortly and point out some interesting stuff. But just to get you going here's a couple:
    1. I'm pretty sure the lawnmower stump will be history with this project. They are putting in a golf cart parking lot in that area with pervious pavement type bricks.
    2. Notice the area all the way to the right by itself, thats where they have to scrape out the canal to add compensating flood plain since they are filling some low places for construction. It will bring the canal closer to the path in that one spot. I wish they would scrap the whole canal so it would hold water all the time!

I'm having a hard time uploading PDF's because of there size and the 500k max, is there a better way to do it?

    Here's the drainage plan.
It looks like this is going to be the relocated Backyard BBQ Pavilion. It's right where it was rumored to be, behind the Trading Post, just off Bay Lake.

Breaking News!!! I came across an application this morning, its only for the ERP permit so construction will probably won’t happen for a little while but here’s the description form the application:
Project improvements generally consist of 3.65 acres of infrastructure to serve a new dining pavilion building and associated pargo (golf cart) parking at Fort Wilderness. The proposed improvements will drain to a proposed equalized dry detention pond system.
I’ll get a copy of the plan posted in a few.
