  1. Thanks for adding another trip report again TCD. I try to show DH all your pictures and all he can say is that he will see it when he gets there..spoilsport! I will add that on one of our trips to the Fort when they were replacing the roof of the pool building they used specially made tiles for the roofing material that looked like shingles but were long lasting poly "something". He asked a few of the fellows that were working on it and none of them spoke English so he had to wait until someone who looked like he was in charge and HE spoke English. So...maybe the same material will be used
  2. Thanks TCD for all the info and pictures and as always look for your next trip report. Lights must be on flags after sunset or taken down is what I've been told, not everyone does this correctly but I say it is the thought that counts. My son who is in the National Guard disposed of my old flags properly when they became torn or otherwise damaged. Our flagpole didn't make it two years ago during a winter storm so no more flags fly here. I stayed at Pop about 10 years ago and found that it is HUGE and we were in the 80's building also. The Coronado Resort has bus stops (I think 4) throughou
  3. Okay TCD, you just made my weekend and of course the cliffhanger.."will he make it back" type of trip report is something that will ensure my coming back to read till the end of your installments. Missing pics of the twins though, hope they are included soon, they are definitely photographic! Nancy
  4. thanks for all the input...found a dealer not too far away that we might visit this week since I am on vacation. Honestly I love our Class A and would definitely stay in it, but I let DH go on about the Montana...spring fever!!!
  5. Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!!! Hope your trip is yellow fly free, we dealt with them on one trip and my legs felt the effects for weeks afterwards. I did have an outdoor room attached to our motor home that worked well and I hung dryer sheets all over (seemed to help well, it smelled good too). Nancy
  6. Would like to know if anyone did a complete change from a Class A to a Fifth Wheel and what they liked or didn't like about doing so. We are considering trading our 2004 Dolphin this year and like the looks of the Montana. Since this also means that we would have to purchase a truck, we would appreciate any discussions or comments from the "experts". Nancy
  7. We haven't been in three years due to a change in income and other various reasons previously stated by others in this post...job changes being another one. No children currently living at home and the need to go is KILLING ME!!! We have taken a few flights down for long weekends but were unable to stay at the Fort but did visit. We are hoping to become snowbirds for the first time this winter though and I would like to look at employment opportunities at WDW at that time. Still checking out different areas to hang our hats but we are definitely going to do it!! Nancy
  8. Great TR...enjoying the comments about your friends and their foibles. I did a trip to WDW with a friend via bus from Maine and we no longer talk to each other much...sad that, but at least I will never go again by bus ANYWHERE!!! She was one who didn't fly and loved to do bus tours and talked me into it, this did decide me not to do it ever AGAIN! Motorhome only travel with DH is the way to go!!
  9. So far only two inches here in Maine, expectations are a foot or more. Wind gusts around 40 miles an hour, just a BAD ole Northeaster that Mother Nature is throwing at us on this lovely FOOLS day.
  10. Never been disappointed with their food...been quite a few times. The best time we had before eating was sitting right at the bar and watching the bartender show his magic, and of course, having a "few" while we waited.
  11. We did eat there before the buffet was offered and the food was excellent and not many people there at the time we went. Great atmosphere and wonderful service.
  12. Loved the trip report and the pictures. Nice that you won the $300, any little bit helps nowadays. Nancy
  13. My two cents going here...five years ago we brought my dad who had heart problems and couldn't deal with alot of walking, so he did rent an ECV. Within 5 minutes he drove that thing in the back of my heels TWICE!!! Poor man, he threw up his hands and apologized each time. Come to find out (after he drove in the elevator at the Stunt Show) the CM there asked what the setting was at and it was on high. He was never told about any settings when he rented it, but have to say he had better control after that. I just made sure that I was in front of him so I took the brunt of any "accidents".
  14. DH and I are in the plans to figure out how to do this in the fall after we get one of our sons married off in August. We are SO unsure of whether to rent monthly or sell our house and buy in an RV community permanently. For now, just checking some real estate listings in the area of Polk City. Work kamping is another way we might go also....any input from more experienced folks will surely be welcome, especially places that are "friendly". Nancy
  15. We've stayed there almost every time we go down from Maine and stop on the way back also. Clean and very inexpensive and quiet. Almost every time we go none of the rides are open though....maybe because most of the times it was in February??
  16. Had to laugh reading that post....we stayed there too, and was not told ahead of time about the train, checked in early evening and there wasn't a train that went by until 4 AM...what a wake up call!!! We also kept tripping the electric and couldn't use our AC, couldn't wait to leave in the morning.
  17. Always made my ressies by phone and haven't had a problem yet. Never will forget the year we got to Florida to try and get in one day early and called the online number only to find out that I never sent in my deposit and didn't have a reservation AT ALL!! I can't believe that I made that mistake but we DID get in for the entire time we wanted...I thought I was going to die thinking we wouldn't get in at all, my kids and DH would've KILLED me. Nancy
  18. I know how you feel, about trying to find this site...SOOOO happy I finally made it around the same time as you and I will say "WELCOME" to you even thought we are both newbies.
  19. Becca...one person who found this site had posted on "the other site" and I emailed her if she knew where everyone had disappeared to and she was kind enough to send me here. I thought originally that it was on Facebook and I couldn't find any link. I LOVE snarky comments and was feeling no love going to the "other site", not to mention the familiar faces and TCD's trip reports...hope he links up here to keep us who live in the great white north a Fort report before too long... Nancy
  20. Thanks for the kind welcome from all.... already the posts that I have been reading are just what I have been used to and have been missing. Can anyone answer if TCD is on this site??
  21. I asked on the DIS where everyone went but didn't get a response until today...woo hoo!!!http://fortfiends.net/forum/Smileys/aaron/party0006.gif I will finally get a Fort Wilderness fix from FIENDS that will definitely be MUCH better than what has been on the DIS lately. I promise to try to post and just not lurk.... Nancy
