  1. I plan to continue using my AP instead of the MB unless something changes in the next few weeks. Sounds like MBs are still a hassle.
  2. Our friend's ECV broke down into about 4 or 5 parts. Once the battery was removed, the base with the wheels & motor was surprisingly easy to handle. Jack strapped it to a cargo platform mounted in the trailer hitch of his SUV.
  3. Well, that's a bummer! But thank you for all the great information you've given me. So how does one drive to the parks (except MK) with an ECV and get in? I can imagine this would be a big problem for locals. Last winter we visited the parks with friends who had an ECV but no handicapped card. Jack would tell the parking CM he needed to drop off the ECV and the CM would direct us to the handicapped parking lot. No problem.
  4. I try to stop at Flying J truck stops whenever I can because most of the ones along the interstates have RV islands that sell both gas and diesel. I have every Flying J location along I-95 from VA to St. Augustine saved in my GPS, which is the Garmin RV 760 LMT. I've learned from experience not to depend only on a GPS. I also use Microsoft Streets & Trips to plan a route and I'll use Google Earth to look at gas stations for entrance and exit if I can't find a Flying J on the route.
  5. A friend sent me a link to this YouTube video yesterday. It gives new meaning to tight turns. They don't say where this happened but I think I recognize it as a road in Custer State Park in SD. http://youtu.be/icXipapYSmg
  6. Geezer Day is for Seniors 55 + who get a 50% discount on admission. They don't card you either. :rofl3: Or maybe I just look like a geezer. :rofl2:
  7. DW & I ate at CG last winter. I had the Pork Two Ways in spite of the description Lacquered Belly. DW had the Jumbo Scallops. Our meals were delicious. We went late enough to be able to view the MK fireworks from the rooftop viewing deck.
  8. Beckers, I think you should organize a GG at J&D and Knoebels for the latter part of next July. :jumpforjoy
  9. Many many moons ago DW & I took our 6 year old nephew to WDW. We rode Space Mountain & he screamed his head off. DW was sitting in front of him & thought he was screaming from fright. When the ride was over she thought she would find a boy scared out of his wits. Instead he was laughing. She asked him why he was screaming. He said isn't that what you're supposed to do on a scary ride? :faceplant2:
  10. Last winter we stayed at Rainbow Chase RV Park. It was $550/month for a full hookup site on a concrete pad, not grass. I don't know what the weekly rate is, or the summer rate. It's about 12 miles to EPCOT. You can easily get to WDW without taking I-4. The address is 6300 Lake Wilson Road, Davenport, FL. 33896, but geographically it is located in Loughman. Phone # is 863-424-2688. It doesn't have a pool or cable TV. I met several Disney CMs who live there.
  11. Don't think we ever saw them but I know the song. It's a Jerry Jeff Walker song. I love singing to it in the car when no one else can hear me. :rofl3:
  12. DW & I went on a backstage tour to see the Christmas decorations a few years ago & one of the stops was the decorations storage building behind the MK. They told us it was originally the main food prep facility for WDW. We ate there a lot when it was the Empress Lilly. Haven't eaten there since it became Fulton's Crab House.
  13. DW and I were at WDW, staying at the Vacation Villas at Lake Buena Vista, which were located where SSR is now. I remember this because we were getting ready to go to dinner when I heard on TV that Elvis had died. It's funny how you can remember certain things, even after 37 years. Here's a picture of the Vacation Villas from a Disney post card that I've saved.
  14. The Winnebago View/Itasca Navion is another model the DW & I have been looking at for the future. I was happy to see you say it drives like a large van. We would eventually like to travel without a toad.
  15. That's quite a discount, about 50%. My daughter's father-in-law is retired military. Would he be able to buy the tickets for her & her family even if he wasn't going to WDW? How would he buy them?
  16. Last winter the DW & I stopped for a drink at Hurricane Hanna's. A CM was scanning Magic Bands to get into the pool area. I was in street clothes & tried to walk thru the pool area to get into the hotel & I was told no, I had to go around the long way.
  17. I haven't heard about issues with the bed but it is a concern I have with something like that. If it fails while in the down position you'd be attached to an object by an inclined plane wrapped helically around an axis. :rofl3:
  18. I just wanted to mention another accessory that can prevent major damage & give you peace of mind while you're driving. It's a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). I installed one on my coach & toad even before I installed my Surge Guard. While it won't prevent a sudden tire blowout, it will warn you of a leak that can lead to a blowout, which can cause some very expensive damage. Here's a link to a thread on an RV forum I belong to that shows what kind of damage, even a fire, a blowout can cause. http://www.rvforum.net/SMF_forum/index.php/topic,76831.new.html#new
