  1. Oh man, 36 boxes of ziti for staying there a full year kinda takes my frugal breath away. And yes...her site is a smidge on the cluttered side, but I reckon she's paying for the priveledge.
  2. I noticed they are loading slower, or not at all this week. I'm judging this by the fact that I have always been able to look up site photos at reception during check in very quickly. This time they didnt load until we were about to drive off.
  3. 10-4. We were clocked at 13mph on the radar gun over by the dog run last night with 3 XL folks o. Board. Probably tops at 15-ish with one or two onboard. I'll try tostop by later sometime and say hello.
  4. Thx Gwen...will do. Hmmmm "okieheart" and Texas tags on the toad....should make for interesting conversation!
  5. We saw the parade yesterday and while I'm not a huge parade fan, it was indeed quite impressive. The costumes were over the top, and lime many others have noted, the dragon is awesome.
  6. Grumpy...went by your site earlier but didnt look like anyone was home so i didnt stop. And with a name like Grumpy I was scared to knock. But know that i made the effort. :) Ours seems to keep up with rest of cart traffic and for what it is....seems more than adequate for us. With the Cricket it's ALL about size. It's the only cart that I am aware of that will reduce down to the dimensions that it does...and still carry 3-4 adults. Uphill.
  7. Ray, We got the SW3. Got the resort top for it which is nice. It all scrunches down to 58L x 28H x 32. We got a stack of brochures if anyone is interested.
  8. We've been on the go and having such a big time since we got here and hadn't checked back on this thread til now. We are in 718 until Sunday. Proud owners of AP's! So odds are good we'll be back more often this year. Also stopped in Augusta on the way down and bought a Cricket compact golf cart that actually fits in the back of our little Pontiac Vibe toad. Loving it so far. Sorry no Fiends sign out front. Need to work on that.
  9. Any fellow Fiends at the Fort this week? Got set up yesterday in 700 loop for a 10 day stay. (Thx Gwen for the tip on 700). Georgeous weather yesterday...SO ready for some magic!
  10. Mo - is the movie schedule ever available for the upcoming month before the 1st of that month? We are curious about March schedule. Worst case we'll wait until Saturday... thx! Mike
  11. Well, while it's not a huge deal to remove the base and replace a bulb, it's not something I care to do daily. I think I'll stick with one color per trip for now!
  12. We pay a lot more attention to www.rvparkreviews.com
  13. Thx for all the great replies, gang. Ah, the decisions. Sometimes I actually like the plain ole white CFL bulb in the lamp, especially if there isn't much other light around our campsite. Whatever color....Mickey looks good a glowin'!
  14. Last time we were at the Fort (Nov) I was sorry we didn't have a fire pit. Lots of unused firewood left behind by neighboring campers. If you aren't above scavenging a bit, you can often find a few logs here and there that the previous occupants didn't burn.
  15. We've spent many a night at the FL Welcome Center en route to the Fort. Free OJ in the morning too!
  16. We feel guilty (not really, but sort of) that we never seem to make it over to Universal. We make it to the Fort, and hit out favorite Disney parks....seems kinda hard to leave! But we have some family members that love Universal so I'm sure we'll make it over there eventually.
  17. Nice. Thx for the pics. I guess bats aren't freaked out by the sound of fireworks, judging my the location of the house. So ....we can look forward to future insect-free nights at the fort. Right?!
  18. I've often thought it would be cool if we Fiends could figure out a system to have a couple firepits available at the Fort at any given time that we could use unstead of schlepping one from home every time.
  19. Thx for the good replies! And Dave...i would have offered more, especially if you were willing to change it every 15 minutes. But either way, glad to provide a cooler of beer over which to discuss such problems we Fiends face, like this one. Starbuc...i bought that same bulb and didnt realize it would default back to white each time. I took it back as its a pain to access the bulb in my lamp.
  20. Howdy Fiends, Happy almost New Year. So I've made several Mickey lamp posts and generally use a CFL bulb inside. Whenever we visit the Fort I notice other lamps that have color changing bulbs in them. I've looked at Lowes and Home Depot but havent found such a bulb yet. Open to ideas from FF's. Thx! Mike
  21. I should thank Dave and Gwen for both helping me figure out how to (finally) post pics - so thanks to both of you! We are headed "over the (Red) River and through the (Piney) woods to Grandmas house we go" later today, so we'll check in with you all next week. Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to all.
  22. OK, I found it! Then...and now. Note that the t-shirt still fits. Lost my Dad in March, and my Mom 11 years ago. They first took us to the park in 1974, and several times after that. Great memories! I'm on a trek to find out where the huge log in the first picture came from, and where it ended up. FW staff took me back to a service area to show me what they thought was the original log, but as it turns out the they took me too is the one that replaced the one in the pic above. The one they still have is actually made out of concrete. The one I'm in front of in 1
  23. OK, be gentle. This is a first try. This may be more like some "pics with comments" than a bona fide trip report, but you gotta start somewhere, right? First things first...set up camp. Get the Mickey Lamp up (oops forgot to make a base for it...bungee cords on the front of the motorhome will have to do. Pinecone Mickey magically appears at our campsite. It is....a magical place...after all! Oh, of course, the new blow-up Mickey and a homemade Mickey leftover from Halloween. Bikes out, ready for action. First night....have to run down the beach and watch fireworks and wa
