  1. When I joined the group almost 8 years ago, there were so many different topics and posts on here all the time, that it was hard keeping up with all of them.

Over the last couple of years I've seen the amount of posts dwindling, to the point that sometimes it's a day or more before a post is replied to or a new one started.

Has everyone gotten so busy that they don't have time to post?

Or have people become afraid to voice their opinions or to post anything because someone might take offense or disagree with them?

This used to be the go to place for Fort information and even all things Disney, and it's sad to see the lack of participation on this site nowadays.

Either that or my settings are screwed up and I'm missing a lot of activity!

  2. ORLANDO (WFLA) — Walt Disney World has updated their website to say guests can begin taking outdoor pictures at their parks without having to wear a face covering.

Walt Disney World has had one of the most strict mask policies among private businesses in Florida since reopening last year during the pandemic. Guests aren’t even allowed to enter the park or walk around if their mask is below their nose.

Exceptions to Disney’s mask rule have been if guests were swimming or dining. Now, the park is going to allow its guests to temporarily remove their masks to take an outdoor photo, but they must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distance.

The new policy goes into effect Thursday, April 8.

Which loop is best this coming December? We will not have a car, and like the small pool...

Most of the loops are fairly close to the small pool.

You can google the Fort map and see the loop numbers.

If you want the least amount of walking, then get the lowest  or the highest # cabin in each loop, they are usually but not always nearest the entrance to the loop.

Better than no job.....Their original position may not need to be filled at the moment.   Gretchen mentioned "asst to Tigger", well Tigger isn't out meeting guests so that position doesn't need to be filled.

They can always use more stroller wranglers/hiders!

  5. I think the park reservations are going to be here for a long time if not permanently.

I had posted that idea a while ago even before Covid, as a method Disney would use keep the crowds manageable along with yearly price increases.

Lot less expensive then expanding the parks or adding new ones.

WDW has been bursting at the seams for the past few years pre Covid.

It is probably a reflection of my age but an item about expanding the Main Street Confectionary caught my eye and I couldn't help but wonder if maybe, if they take over the hat shop, if it wouldn't be a lovely opportunity to bring back a certain cinnamon bun?  A small revival of the Main Street Bakery?   Perhaps in honour of the 50th ???

As I said, it's a probably a reflection of age but that WOULD be a reason to celebrate !

(PS I know a certain large corporation up the street would likely not be happy about that)

The bean counters would probably have them use the Pillsbury ones in a can!

I also think it is easier for them to make a blanket statement about large trucks. They let in RV pulling MDT or HDT then someone pulling a similar sized commercial trailer decides if they can use the pump so can I and eventually the employees are having to spend their time policing what is allowed and what isn't. The way they have it is cut and dry and leaves no room for interpretation.

You mean like how the Fort enforces rules by the book? :ROFLMAO-1:

  8. Something Seaworld/Busch Gardens has been doing for 2 years....

We announced this morning that new facial recognition technology was being tested for park entry at the Magic Kingdom. The facial recognition test is now active again and we got to check it out for ourselves!

The process is extremely efficient and seems like it might go a long way to help eliminate long lines to enter the park.

Large signs make it clear that this lane is specifically for guests wanting to participate in the test. It is completely optional.

Guests must keep their masks on, however they are asked to remove hats and sunglasses while passing through the entrance.

Guests can hold their park ticket or MagicBand up to the scanner while looking at a camera to have their image captured. The scanner shows the Mickey head that can be seen on MagicBands and the correlating touch points. Stars appear while the scan is taking place, and then guests are free to enter the park. The image that is captured here is then converted into a numerical code that corresponds to each guest’s park admission.

Let me know how it works for you. I am one of those people that if there is a biting insect within 3 miles they will skip all other targets to come after me.

The woman that posted it and someone else that replied both gave it glowing reviews.

The OP did say that it didn't work on her husband until he rubbed it it.  She thinks it didn't penetrate past his hairy arms and legs.

I'm hoping it works on those nasty biting 3 cornered/green flies that hang out at the Fort.

They were terrible there one year.  My daughter had a welt on her foot for over a month from a bite.

I found too it cut down on the No See Ums

Someone on a FL camping site posted that this stuff, said it works great for no see ums, biting flies, mosquitos.

No Mosquitoz or No Natz.  Both work on everything just different formulas, and both all natural.

    Available on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/MOSQUITOZ-Repellant-Hand-Crafted-Hypoallergenic-Non-Greasy/dp/B082DNCHBP

    some Wal-Marts

    or their webpage nonatz.com

We had used Repel natural lemongrass and Cutter Skinsations on a recent camping trip against no see ums.  Both work OK, but I just ordered the no mosquitoz to give it a try.

They took out the Coquina sand/shell pad and have put in small stone as they did in the Full Hookup looks. I liked it. I am a tenter half the time and didnt mind them at all.

The gravel sure keeps the tents, campers, and screen rooms cleaner!

  12. Should be decent with warm to hot weather.  It's before the official rainy season.  Humidity shouldn't be too bad.

It's after Spring Break but before most southern schools are out for summer.

And a lot of the various school team sports groups are not going to be at Wide World of Sports Complex, so they may not be at DW that much either.

  13. Disney is still taking the mask wearing, temp checks, and other rules seriously.

They have posted new larger signs at DS showing what type of masks are and are not acceptable.

I'm sure it's twofold, one to protect the guests, and probably the bigger reason to protect them from liability/lawsuits.

One of the main things that have been implemented all over Walt Disney World Resort property is temperature checks. At the entrance of Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs, all Guests must undergo a temperature check to ensure that no one entering has a fever. It is a simple process of a forehead scan, and the lines often move fairly quickly.

It seems, however, that one Guest did not comply, and ended up being arrested last month because of it. The Orlando Sentinel reported on the February 13 incident:

Kelly Sills had gotten past the Disney Springs medical tent without having his temperature checked on Feb. 13. A sheriff’s deputy caught up with him outside The Boathouse restaurants where Sills was yelling at a security manager and waving his arms, the report said. Sills was arrested after he refused to leave Disney Springs.

Sills, 47, of Baton Rouge, La., pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of trespass on property after being warned, according to Orange Circuit Court records.

Attorneys for Sills, Beltran and Johnson did not return messages for comment.

It seems that Sills went against Disney World’s temperature check safety procedure and expected to stay on property when that is not permitted. Disney strongly enforces their safety regulations such as proper mask and face coverings as well as social distancing and has said that anyone who does not want to comply should not visit the parks, and if they do visit and disobey the rules, they will be removed from the property.

It is apparent that Sills was not peacefully leaving the property and therefore was arrested at Disney Springs.

Unfortunately, this is not the first case of Guests disobeying the rules and inciting violence. We have previously reported arrests and fights that have broken out over mask compliance on Disney property.

Disney World is enforcing these pandemic-era policies to keep a safe environment for all Guests who are visiting the theme parks, and Cast Members will actively patrol the parks and property to ensure that the rules are being followed. They will even stop attractions mid-ride if they can see via cameras that a Guest removed their mask, so anyone visiting sure ensure they are accepting of the rules prior to arrival.

  14. I would say to anyone, if you are not local and a passholder a trip to DW now is a waste of time and $$$$$.

You are still paying a premium price for a less than stellar experience.

We are local (about an hour away) passholders.

We don't really eat that much at the parks.

If we go now and there isn't a long wait we go on a ride since we've been on everything (except ROR and Smugglers Run) numerous times.

We try to go when it's not crowded.

    But again we are local.

If this was a major, once in a couple year trip, I would save your $$$ and stay away.

  15. As we all sit and wait for an opening date for the Harmonious nighttime spectacular, Disney is selling corporate packages that include a private reception and viewing of Harmonious.

While Disney has not officially announced an opening date for the new nighttime show yet, it’s clear that they are at least advertising it as being open for the 2021 Taste of EPCOT Food and Wine Festival to corporate partners.

Work continues to take place on World Showcase Lagoon to install the four perimeter barges and massive centerpiece barge to support the show.

“Harmonious” will bring to World Showcase Lagoon an innovative toolkit of massive floating set pieces that house a variety of show effects, including custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, colorful lights, lasers, pyrotechnics and more.

There have been FB posts about seeing EPCOT fireworks from a distance after the park has closed
