  1. You know I never knew that. We have never used the Wilderness Pool. I would not like that change either. Am I mistaken that the Meadow Swimmin Hole rules also state to 12am? I know friends we have camped with have gone during the middle of the night to swim in the past.
  2. Well done! I totally get where you are coming from in regards to trying to get the perfect photo for cards. We only have 3 and every year we take about 100 pictures and end up picking the best of the worst lol. I can't imagine what you go through with your family :) I think your warm up report is awesome and can't wait for your Fort report next month!
  3. Sunday morning I tried something different, I woke up early and drove around to get some peaceful morning photos :) I love the way the Meadow Trading Post looks before the sun comes up: I then drove by the Wilderness Pool. Since I have been inactive lately, I'm sure the new hours have been posted and discussed, but I got a shot of the sign anyhow, and am glad to see it is open to 12am now: Since we had three vehicles and are rule followers, we parked DW's car in the overflow lot for our visit. I wanted to drive by there to check on it to be sure it was still there safe and sound. I had to
  4. Thank you! I feel ya! I try to be the picture taker all the time for this very reason :)
  5. Thanks Andrew. I wondered about the water level. It appeared to be low in all the canals as well, I wonder if they were pumping into Bay Lake? It doesn't really make sense though because the amount of rainfall has been sufficient to keep the canals higher. He still has his Rangers hat in his collection, but both boys are pulling hard to for the Cardinals and we actually watched a game while camping. Thanks H. Camping has become our favorite family vacation. Hey there Trinity friend! You're right, I never realized just how big the box is until the kids stand next to it closed. I think,
  6. You've set the stage for a great report! Can't wait for more.
  7. Loving your report and photos! I agree boo management and poles. The congestion it creates along the one pathway was bad this past weekend. I can't imagine what it will be like during Halloween weekend.
  8. Hope you have a wonderful trip! I can't wait to hear and see all about it!
  9. I'm going to get this report going and get through it as quickly as possible since there are only Fort pictures. It should go quick. Saturday I was up early and out on a cart ride. I usually have the same routine, I hit Settlement, then Meadows and after that just drive around the campground. I have a ton of pictures of this, and never get tired of shooting it: I love the view of the beach through the trees: Here is a shot of the beach on the right side of the marina: No trip is complete without a shot of Settlement Trading Post: This sign has always confused me. Are there no bicycles p
  10. It was probably the best 3 days I can remember while visiting the Fort! Thanks! I appreciate the kind words and the concern. And this trip was really needed to get some relaxation without having to worry about going, going, going.
  11. Great report Dave! I am way behind on my reading, but am trying to get caught up. Just a couple of comments: -Jellystone looks awesome. We have that campground bookmarked and have come close to booking over the past year, but the dates just haven't worked out. -I love the slide photos! That looks like something easy enough to make for a backyard :) -Our kids love the aquarium, and nice job capturing all the mandatory shots while visiting. Your jellyfish photos are much better than the ones I got a few years back. I can hardly make out what I was shooting. Nice job! Glad to finally have ca
  12. Man, these past few month's have been hectic for me and the family. In June I took on a new role at work which has included working more evening shifts than in recent years. My oldest son has been in full swing (like every weekend, full swing) fall baseball mode since July. My middle son is playing coach pitch baseball, and my daughter has started taking dance classes. All this means little or no free time for me and as a result my computer time has been cut down to a minimum. I have lurked around, but have not been active for the past month and a half or so. I can see I have much, much re
  13. On our last visit there DS8 (would have been 4 at the time) got soot in his eyes during the ride and was absolutely miserable. Poor thing. It made for a long train ride since it happened right after we left the train station. I have really enjoyed this report. This is one of our favorite vacation spots and you have done a great job capturing the beauty of the area. And, now we have a great park to stay at in GA on our next trip up there! Awesome job!
  14. Maybe, and I'm just spit balling here, she had her um b***y's done? Or, she was contemplating having them done? :rofl2:
  15. I had to remove the photos for my sanity, but wow! I too have lived here for over 30 years and we have been to the Strawberry Festival one time. I did it and probably won't ever go back. Pig racing is just not for me. Nice job though, on capturing these beauties.
  16. Outstanding! I agree, WTF?
  17. I love this picture. B&W photos do a great job of capturing these types of moments. Great report, great story! You should be proud. I did have trouble viewing some of the photos in your last post though, they came up as text.
  18. I'm just getting caught back up on this report, and I gotta say, you are doing an outstanding job with it! This is a really cool story you shared about catching up with your friend. It looks like you have captured all the "magic" during your trip!
  19. I'm loving this report! Cades Cove is a a great drive. You are right about all the people chasing the bears trying to get pictures. It can be very frustrating because the traffic comes to a complete stop when one person decides to park in the middle of the road. I love the Gatlinburg bypass photos! I can't wait for Dollywood. Did you guys take the Roaring Fork Nature Trail drive? That is a really scenic drive also right on the edge of Gatlinburg and the NP. You are doing a great job!
  20. I always love a Flintstone reference! Nicely done!
  21. I don't have too many funny WTF? pictures, but I did capture this one in October 2010. It was on the Meadow Trading Post bulletin board. Check out the second paragraph. The 2009 Ford Ironman? It was October 2010! WTF?
  22. Another great report! We were there at the same time again, but were in the 1000 loop. I may be in the minority, but I really enjoy the photos of the Fort in the colder months, when things begin to go dormant. I really enjoyed your photos! Thanks for sharing.
  23. That was a great report, and one you will look back on and remember for a long time. Some of our best memories are of trips that, for us, were planned on short notice and were we packed in as much we could do during our stay. I'm glad you took the time to post this report.
