  1. Great update! We love the drive from Cherokee to Gatlinburg. It's amazing how long 36 miles takes while driving directly through the mountains. Good call on not hiking to Clingmans Dome in that heat, we did that once with our DS and it was a lot of work. I'm still loving the campground pictures. That looks like a really great place to stay! Did you guys do any tubing or swimming in the river?
  2. I love seeing pictures of all the campers during your trips! This looks like a great time. Can't wait to see more!
  3. This has been a great ride, from the beginning to the very end! You have managed to cover so much in a 3 night stay. I don't know how you do it. Thanks for always taking the time to put so much effort in your reports and sharing all the unique and interesting things you find during your trips! Can't wait for the next one!
  4. Definitely is. I actually lived in Williamstown as a child and can remember vividly driving through Charleston on our way to our grandparents house. We moved to Fl when I was 5.
  5. I agree. While I love the actual camper pictures, the pictures of your son are even better. I love the toy hauler on the front! Enjoy.
  6. Very cool! What part of WV were you visiting? I was born in Wheeling and my mother grew up in Huntington.
  7. I've said it before, but I'll go ahead and say it again. Possibly my all time favorite view at the Fort! Hey, I've been meaning to ask you if you have made one of those wooden benches yet? I remember you were fond of those on your last report. Remember I'm first in line if you do :)
  8. Welcome to the boards! I remember your reports over "there" and was also impressed with your A/C hookup. I was at the Fort the same time you were last October. I took my mother with me for her first trip and she had a blast. We arrived on your departure day I think. The weather was amazing that week! Can't wait to see more of your report.
  9. Wow! So many things going through my mind right now after getting caught up. -Great commentary on the pool "dispute", that was funny! And I know the pool situation is being beaten to death, but it is absolutely ridiculous. Crazy that you have to use a trash can for your lounge chair and table. -We also love the Hess station, but we can't stand getting there. Is there a quicker route to or from that place. Drives me crazy. -You have one incredible memory! I'm amazed at the stuff you can recall. -The golf cart debacle is really pretty lame. Without risking another hijack, I wonder if thi
  10. I've been waiting for the sequel! I'm predicting another epic report, I can't wait for more. That campground looked a little sketchy.
  11. I agree. I made them the very next day this was posted and they lasted for a whole week, which in our household is a record! They are really good, but really rich!
  12. Yep, I saw the same thing during our visit. Here is a quote from my TR regarding this exact issue: I was pleased to see at least an effort to check for ID's by the pool staff. I don't think it made a huge impact, as they didn't seem to have a plan or any rhyme or reason as to who they were checking, but it is a start. They never asked me and I was prepared with all of our cards. While the CM's had a box of wristbands, I never was approached and we spent a lot of time at the pool during our three days. And I witnessed several of these "guests" as well. Those pictures are great! It would have
  13. Why of course! My apologies in advance Starbuc for the temporary hijack. You are making me go old school now. I don't want any wisecracks about my hair either. These photos were actually taken in April of 2004 so it wasn't actually winter, but it was cold and as we were driving over 441 from Cherokee to Gatlinburg we saw snow! I have also been there during January when it was really cold, but didn't get any photos. DS8 was DS2 at the time. Man how time has changed! As far as cabin rentals, we have stayed at several places from Townsend to Gatlinburg. We have stayed at Black Bear Falls
  14. :rofl2: Well done! Can't wait for more of your report. Oh yea, and I love your early morning photos!
  15. DW and I ate at the Cherokee Grill on our last visit and really enjoyed it. I am really enjoying your report. We absolutely love visiting Gatlinburg and the surrounding areas. I can't wait to see if you all did a lot of visiting inside the park!
  16. Loved the pictures! Thanks so much for posting them.
  17. Looks like a wonderful campground! We usually take the same route you mentioned along 321 to Gatlinburg. The scenery is great and Wears Valley is a pretty neat little town. I can't imagine pulling a rig that way though. Great Job! Can't wait for the next update.
  18. I'm glad no demolition is being done to RC yet. I was afraid the video you had us watch was to prepare us for the destruction of that attraction. There is still hope! I am on a mission to find out what those containers are for. I have found some interesting information, but can't be sure it relates to the blue containers.
  19. I have been waiting for this report! I knew you were going to Gatlinburg and staying at the Smoky Bear Campground right? We have family in Kingsport and love that area. I can't wait to read your thoughts on your stay, we have been eying this place for a while. You are off to a great start and I can't wait for more.
  20. You are doing a great job with this report! I can't believe all you guys were able to take in on your short trip. That's what it's all about! Can't wait for the next update!
