twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from djsamuel in Picking up the new rig...
Picked her up on Saturday...I spent the night at a campground without Tom or the kids, cleaning, stocking and doing some painting (which fiend said they were opening up their rig at a local CG?  Thank you for that idea!).  Still have a little more to do as I didn't get into the site, and start working, until 6ish.   Tom pulled it there, I pulled it home.  The truck did not squat at all when hitched up.  Hitching/unhitching, much easier than our Propride.  I can feel the difference (in weight) when I accelerate to get on the freeway, towing down the road doesn't feel too much different but having the right RIGHT THERE (in your mirrors) is freaking.  Turning, I went ridiculously slow and I think that will just take time to feel comfortable with.  Increased the trailer brake on the truck as I think it was set too light (set up for the TT).  That made a difference. Trying to figure out the self leveling feature...I'm not sure that it works that well, may have to have the dealership look at the after our trip out west.  Had new tires installed (from a 10 ply to a 14 ply) before we picked her up on Saturday.  Even though the brand the manufacturer put on there, had some pretty decent reviews, I just felt better with a heavier tire with our cross-country trip scheduled.  We're taking her out camping this weekend; the kids are soooo excited.  I'll try to post pictures, soon!

Just made our reservations for MLK weekend in January.  Hopefully we'll see a couple of manatees... might be too early in the season but, $20 for full hook-ups is pretty cool!

The same as when jr. borrows grandma's handicap placard and takes up a handicap space in a parking lot because he feels entitled to do so...even though his grandmother is not with him.
    I find this disgusting.  Shameful.

Silver Springs was one that we were considering... I think the kids would really enjoy the glass bottom boat.

Yes... the gators however, look like they might be a bit too close for comfort

Yes, for the seals I sprayed it on the rag and then wiped it on.
I imagine you could try a stick with a rag or the edge of a sponge mop from the dollar store.

For our family...we always drive as far as we can, before stopping
Atlanta is still a good 9 hours (towing) from The Fort.

Just got back from a visit to this state park; we really enjoyed ourselves.  The park itself has two sections:  the side we stayed at is closer to the beach and is all out in the open...the other side (you have to drive from one section to the other) has a lot of foliage.  Where we stayed, there was only 20-22 sites; all were nice sized and included a picnic table and fire pit. We were in site #2.  I would say we saw more large rigs on this (the open) side compared to the other side. I think it might be easier to pull in, without the bushes.  There was a large bathhouse in the middle of our loop and it was very clean.  Water pressure was a little low, but the water was nice and hot.  It's an easy walk to the beach.  The Fort itself is inside the park and there is an additional $2/person fee to walk around it.  Very cool and definitely worth the two bucks.  They have a small food stand where you can buy lunch or you can bring your own and eat at their tables.  A nice playground is within walking distance from the entrance of The Fort (they share a small parking lot).  There are a lot of hiking/biking trails; there is also a fishing pier however that is currently closed (storm damage).
The camping sites have water/electric.  No sewer or cable.  There is one dump station on property...lucky for us, it was on the way out of our loop.   Bathhouse has one washer and dryer. Oh...and one nice thing they had, was a family bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower.  Thought it was great if you're a dad who needs to shower off your daughter or a family with lots of kiddos.
Ameila Island itself is very cute; the downtown area is fun to walk around.  Our friends toured the museum in town and really enjoyed it.  The campground is definitely worth a trip, if you get the chance however...I believe this state park books up quickly. so look early.

Site #2.   Our camper is almost 32' total length.

The last palm tree down by the van...you'll see a "sidewalk".  That's the boardwalk out to the beach.  From our site, to the beach, maybe a 5 minute walk.

Directly across the street from our site... then again, it was across the street from every site as it's in the middle of a small loop

This section had two roads to it...one was sand and the other was paved.

We didn't stay here....but we were in the area a couple of months ago, so we swung in and took a few pictures.  Sites are pretty close together.  We did see a few spot with big rigs (maybe 20% of the property) but for the most part, I would suggest that you only stay here if you are 30' or less (rig...TV could park elsewhere).  A better fit would be 25'.
That being said, bathhouses looked good and they had a nice playground.

Yeah....we've parked at the one in Gainesville several times with no issue, but I know that not all locations are equal    We love parking there, because we love to eat breakfast before we head out!

Personally, I don't like that alcohol is being sold at the MK.  Bad enough that it's sold at Epcot (which 1/2 the time just feels like a large bar to me... especially after 5p when the locals descend).
    Personal preference, I know.

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from Xanne in Favorite theme park diaper bag / stroller organizer?
    Welcome!
My "diaper bag" was a changing pad (in a clutch style) that I purchased at Target or Walmart.  It would hold a travel pack of wipes (the hard sided ones that come with the box or wipes), rash cream and 3 or 4 diapers.  I would use the wipes to clean off tables and high chairs and carry a travel size sanitizer (they have alcohol free if you prefer for your little one).   This can easily fit under the stroller.  Outside of that, you might consider a light weight backpack to carry any additional items.  The more trips we took, the less stuff I took (even when my babies were tiny) as I discovered that all we did was haul around a bunch of stuff that we didn't use ☺

Have a great time and again...welcome!!

See...this was our problem for years.  Our daughter used to be TERRIFIED of dogs.  Didn't matter the size.  If she saw you coming down the street with a 2 lbs Chihuahau, she would pull us to the other side of the road and cower behind us.  It was crazy.  Then, we met a friend at the lake and he has this beautiful, wonderful golden that would make anyone love a dog... and that's exactly what it did to her.  She went from terrified to obsessed and then almost a year of asking for a pup before we gave in and adopted Simon. But go back to when she was terrified and having a dog with us in the 100 loop did cause a few problems.  Thankfully, only one time were the other campers close and they left the day after we got there...the others we were able to avoid by going the opposite way around the loop.  But, it could have been a huge, huge problem.

Yes... several of the 5th wheels we've looked at were this way.  Or you couldn't get into the bunk room, unless you opened the slide.  The Coachmen 360IBL you can get into the bathroom and bedrooms, but to get to the fridge...you would have to open the side on the passenger side at least 1/2 way so you could squeeze in.   This is the main plus to our current bumper pull.  We can access everything easily, with the slide in.
