  1. The only thing that is making me worry a bit about this is the fact that someone I know who is familiar with the project told me a few weeks ago that the level of encroachment to the Fort is much more than he was hoping.
  2. I don’t think so but I know they’re looking at how to make more $ since they look at the land as underutilized. I did hear a rumor, and that is all it is, that they are considering replacing the cabins with permanent buildings similar to the cabins at Wilderness Lodge.
  3. I compared this to the satellite image on Google Maps. It sure looks like that is the Settlement Trading Post and the purple building is Pioneer Hall.
  4. It was the perfect length. Plus, my wife had to go into the tunnels for many years and had no interest in going back. The Keys to the Kingdom tour was perfect for her. Plus, she'd been inside Haunted Mansion before but was glad for the rest of us to get the chance to go inside. We've done this tour as well as the train tour and the Animal Kingdom Trek. All three were really enjoyable; but I think this tour was the most interesting.
  5. That's a new sign from when I was there. I'm glad to see it isn't construction parking. I assumed it was since there were a couple of cars parked there and some people working in the River Country area. I wonder if some workers were using it to park.
  6. The plans are to keep the amenities as is. Reflections will have their own, and better amenities but there will be some increased traffic from there. That is a concern of some working on this. The question is, will Fort Wilderness guests be able to walk over to Reflections. My guess it will be the same as Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness in terms of access; bus/boat and walking.
  7. i think this is the previous plan from 2011.
  8. Based on previous openings before my wife retired, they won't redirect cast members to HS. Rather they will add overtime lines, which are open to cast members looking to pick up extra lines. My wife did it all of the time. I do think for the first month or two at least, that so many people will come and find HS too crowded and then head to another park. I'm sure we will probably be blocked out on the silver pass from HS for quite a while.
  9. Try for the 300 loop and you’ll be closer to the dog park, the pool and the Meadows Trading Post. I think you’ll be fine.
  10. Yes, we went to walk the path from Wilderness Lodge and found out we needed to take the bus. The bus still was running but who knows for how long.
  11. True, but I don’t think it will double.
  12. The HS capacity is around 75,000 so there will be a LOT of waiting to get in.
  13. Supposed to open this fall. We have reservations for November and am hoping everybody flocks to HS and we go everywhere else.
  14. I know that Bob Chapek was touring Fort Wilderness. Who knows what will come of that, if anything.
  15. Yesterday we took the bus from Wilderness Lodge to the Fort. Who knows how long that will last. The bus driver just told us there will be a lot of construction but he didn't say that bus route would be closing.
  16. They will be building a dedicated entrance road into the new resort a bit west of the Fort Wilderness entrance. I suspect that is why the walking trail is closed at the moment.
  17. The trail between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness was closed today. Here is the Wilderness Lodge end: Here is Clementine's Beach. You can see the markers: The construction fencing right up against the back of Pioneer Hall: The area between Mickey's Backyard BBQ and Pioneer Hall is now a construction parking lot: The former entrance to the BBQ and River Country:
  18. Latest update I heard is that pile driving will begin soon; starting at 8AM each day. Also, the new development will encroach onto the Settlement area pretty close to the back of Pioneer Hall and Trails End. So I guess it is best to figure that everything west of the back of the Settlement will be changing. Also, there are no plans to relocate Pioneer Hall and Trails End.
  19. I would think it will have its own boat. I know someone involved with this. He said a big concern of his and others is how it will affect the atmosphere at Fort Wilderness. They've been working to minimize the impact since the charm and the feeling of isolation of Fort Wilderness is what makes it so special. Hopefully they will be able to strike the balance. He thinks in the end it will be very nice. I hope so.
  20. If you are looking at the BBQ building, the area to the right and behind the BBQ building (the fenced off area where River Country used to be) is the spot for Reflections. The parking area will extend out to where the BBQ building and I assume the barn are currently located. I am hoping that the Boundary stakes I saw show where the parking area ends and the existing Fort Wilderness remains.
  21. Judging by what we saw on Sunday, I would say the path to Wilderness Lodge will be staying, but will be closed for a time. There were a lot of flags on it and they will be placing a silt fence along it.
  22. I think this is the case. We were walking around on Sunday. Most of the stakes in the settlement area have "LOC" written on them; and I assumed that meant they were locator stakes. they had yellow flags on them. There were flags along the trail to Wilderness Lodge just east of Frontier Way that were labeled "silt fence". Makes me wonder if that is where the new entrance road for Reflections will be placed. There were blue flags near the Settlement leading to the Mickey's Backyard BBQ building labelled "Boundary" or something similar. Also, walking down to Clementine's Beach, we could see
  23. Absolutely. Building a new facility in another location would eliminate any lost revenue as you can keep the old facility open while the new facility is being developed. I wouldn't be surprised to see anything. I understand Bob Chapek was there a few weeks ago looking around and I believe attending Hoop de Doo.
