jimp2061 0
Real disappointed. We've been at the Fort for 10 days, heading back to Toronto tomorrow. The horse barn has been closed off for the whole time, from what I understand it's because they're redoing the roof. I know nothing can be done about it but visiting the work horses has been a yearly tradition since my parents began bringing me down in 1976. Looking forward to seeing the barn with the new roof next year. Had a great stay, not looking forward to having to go. Oh ya, Kenny from Tee Time rocks. The kids loved having the cart for the whole trip.
AuburnJen 777
did they say how much longer it was going to be for the roof repair to be completed?
jimp2061 0
One of the workers this morning said that they're two weeks behind on the roof being completed. Didn't say how much longer but it looks like it's going to be a bit.
CCIntrigue...aka Gwen 547
Hope it's open by the first of November!
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
It was reported by Buckeye Fort Mama a few months ago that the new roof was coming. This would certainly seem to suggest that the plan to tear down the barn and build a new one at the Outpost is shelved. According to what she heard and reported, the plan isn't just shelved. It's dead. TCD
Ok Grumpy AKA Cindy~~ 9
I like that news. Hope it's true!
Discamper 394
Wow a week to redo a roof. I know roofing companies that would have it done in a day or two not take a week

And just look how long it's taking them to refurbish the River Country Wagon. TCD
DaveInTN 3,247
To be fair....that isn't a typical roof they put on the trading post. Those are some fancy shingles, aren't they? I imagine they take longer than your typical asphalt shingles that get thrown up and nailed on in speedy gonzales time. Not sure what they are putting on the barn, but wouldn't be surprised if it is similar.
Katman1356...Jason 1,140
When I was talking to someone in the horse barn before about the roof they said they were updating with a new ventilation system as well. Maybe that's the delay?

When they did the Meadow Trading Post, I watched as they put down copper sheeting on the roof. Not paper. Copper. If they're doing that on the barn, I would be surprised if they still plan to tear it down to make a DVC parking lot. But, they're full of surprises. TCD
Discamper 394
I bet when they redid the settlement roof they had to deal with aspestiest also
Tri-Circle-D 2,059
I bet when they redid the settlement roof they had to deal with aspestiest also I didn't think about that. Also, they kept the trading post open the whole time, so they did one part of the roof at a time, and had to build safety barriers so a hammer or whatnot would knock a guest on the noggin if dropped. stacktester 78
And Jen and I are witness that Todd doesn't beat his gf. He just slams on brakes and tosses her head first thru the golf cart windshield and then she screams she didn't spill her beer out of the red solo cup so no abuse was done.
