A Whole New Ride: Disney Monorail Cab For Sale Posted by Samuel Reiman  at 10:47 am

It glides as softly as a cloud, there’s no chance the track will bend, and it comes from the most magical place on Earth… but we can’t promise a full-on song-and-dance ensemble breaking out at your local courthouse.

This 1971 Walt Disney World Mark IV Monorail Train is now listed on eBay, with bidding closing at 4:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, May 7.

This cab led the red monorail during Walt Disney World’s grand opening in 1979 in Orlando, Fla. Most of the original cabs were destroyed after the Mach VI monorails came in in 1989, but this one retains all of its original components such as doors, seats and controls.

The cab has some extensive wear from use and would most likely require local pickup, but Hakuna Matata, it truly is a major piece of Disney history for anyone to own. For the official listing, click HERE » http://www.ebay.com/itm/390832391157

Here's the working eBay link...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/390832391157

It's listed at $189k "buy it now" or "make an offer" and has had 11 offers so far.

I've got an extra 8 bucks... who's in?  8)

I will match that $8. But is that the $8 you are offering to put a giant F on Lou's yard?

I wonder what the story is behind this monorail car?

If you read the Ebay ad carefully, they disclose that it's located in Georgia.

I've heard there was a monorail car on display in Georgia at a place called the Tyrone Depot. I guess that's a place for Honey Boo Boo types to get married in a nice junkyard setting.  Here's a link to the place: http://tyronedepot.com/node/1

A quick look on Bing maps confirms that this is our monorail:

You'd think they'd take better care of something worth $190K.

LOL....I just started a different thread about this being my new RV.

Because you can never have too many monorail threads, right?

Great minds!  And no you cannot.

I'll scrounge up another $8

You know, this has gotten me to thinking.

Doesn't Lou have a house "near Atlanta?"

Do you think Lou lives at the Tyrone Depot?

Nifty sleuthing, TCD!  And either I've been watching too much Sherlock, or you might be onto something there...  8)

In fact, I'm thinking of putting the bathroom in the front cab, and rigging up the lever to flush the toilet.

Now that the monorails at WDW will be automated and won't need a lever pusher, they could do that too.

They don't allow guests to ride up front anyway, so why not put a toilet there?
