keith_h 420 Posted January 19, 2015 Report Share Posted January 19, 2015 I thought the gift tax did not kick in until after the first $12K. It used to be $9,999 but it has slowly worked its way up. I could be wrong though as I am not a tax lawyer. The Federal Gift Tax exclusion for 2014 was $14,000 per person. It is set by the IRS each year.
