Television in the camper

Just an informal poll for some friends of mine who own a private campground.

I really don't care if they have cable or not, just need to know ahead of time so I know whether to bring the air antenna or not.

I could take it or leave it.  We will sometimes put the tv on at night while settling into bed, to catch up on news or weather.  But other than that we don't usually watch tv in the RV...other than the occassional DVD when we need the kids to settle in.

We like to have it. We really like to have a weather channel. Our set no longer gets off-air programs in the USA and we broke down and bought a small new unit, but it doesn't really satisfy.

I said "good to have" b/c we like the news & weather channels at night but, to be honest, I've never even thought about asking about cable when deciding where to stay. It's more about the location, pool, and other amenities for us...

Since we installed a digital antenna on the RV we pick up a TON of channels and ditched the satellite service.  All I care about is news and weather.  DH is a movie fanatic, so we have an arsenal of DVD's in the RV.

The Fort is the only private campground we go to so all the other places we camp we don't expect there to be cable.

What demographic are they targeting?  If they want longer term campers then I think cable would be nice.  If they want the people trying to escape civilization for a few days or a week, not so much.

For an overnight, not so important, but for several days or more, it becomes more important, especially as mentioned during bad weather and Mostly in football season.  I haven't carried the satellite dish in a year or so, but have watched a lot of cable.

We only watch it at night or first thing in the morning for weather, unless of course it's raining.

Usually I am happy with whatever we can pick up with the amplified antenna.  Once when we were camping in the Poconos we got no reception and the cable didn't work.  That was a pain, but not a war stopper.

On the occasions that hubby's with us, it's more important. The kids and I will put in a DVD if anything, but hubby likes his routine in the morning -- and that includes the news on TV. Otherwise, we're fine without it. (Although smart phone signal/Wifi is a whole 'nuther story! That's my vice!)

I have a satelite now, but before, it was definately a deciding factor, especially if I was not close to a larger city with good over the air stations. I don't necessarily watch much TV while on vacation, but I do watch at night before bed & during bad weather.

Exactly!  Watching football under the awning is the best. 

We also have to have tv at the Fort for channel 96 for the kids.  My DD3 talks about Steamboat Willie all the time.

I completely hear you! Hubby surprised me with one for my birthday back in August. My old cell phone was WAY past its expiration date, but I'm a total frugal mama and was going to use it until it completely croaked. I opened the iPhone (complete with beautiful purple cover, of course!) and was like, "What did you DO?"

Fast forward a couple months, and I can't believe I love a piece of technology as much as I do that thing! It can do practically everything, and when I'm camping without wifi, it's awesome!

I love to travel but I don't well in the car. It's not a road trip unless I am screaming "we're gonna die". Just made a round trip to Miami and back and I was so busy texting, IMing and surfing the web, I hardly knew we were in the car :dance:
