We also ate inside the pavilion and really disliked the food there.Edited to add that we ate at the Hacienda shortly after it opened and the meal we really enjoyed is not on the menu anymore. Romantic, beautiful, and always a great Mexican dinner. Fast forward to the present and while still beautiful, the food has gone completely downhill while prices went uphill. NO more fried ice cream either at least there wasnt when we last dined there. Like fools, last year we had friends with us who loved mexican food so we were going to try again and thanks to the free dining plan could not even get in anymore. Way to wreck a great thing. It was great while it lasted though and the boat ride while cute for my daughter should have been left the same as well. Tri-Circle-D 2,059 Posted October 9, 2012 Report Share Posted October 9, 2012 Man, this thread is confusing.The names of the restaurants in and around the Mexico pavilion are confusing.The restaurant in the main pavilion (which has been called the pyramid in this thread) is called the San Angel Inn. It is the original restaurant that has been in the Mexico pavilion since the beginning. The atmosphere is great- it is like you are sitting outside under the stars. The restaurant is sit down, full service, and serves lunch and dinner. Before the Disney Dining Plan ruined everything, this place has a varied and unique menu, and was one of our favorites.There always was a quick serve cantina across outside of and across the walk from the Mexico pavilion. A couple of years ago, they recreated this spot, so that it now actually two separate restaurants. One is called La Cantina de San Angel- and it is a quick serve, counter service restaurant where you place your order and carry it away on a tray. It serves lunch and dinner. The other is called La Hacienda de San Angel. This is a sit down, full service restaurant, with a completely different menu from the San Angel Inn. It is only open for dinner. But, at lunch, they allow guests from the Cantina to carry their trays inside and use the tables. This is one of our favorite places to eat lunch in Epcot. There is also outdoor, lakefront seating at the Cantina. Once they start the dinner service in the Hacienda, then the Cantina guests have to stay outside.We have never tried the La Haceinda dinner place. The prices scare me away.
