  1. The announcements were hysterical...partly because the guy making them was having a hard time hiding the fact that they were getting annoyed with people. I read that one woman called 911 and told them she had her kids dump water on their heads to stay cool - um, perhaps we should drink it instead? I think all the "crazy" comes out in people when they get stressed. One story reported that we were trapped for 30 MINUTES with no AC...oh the horror!!! Really people...it was a little warm, but come on! I agree that had it been 100 degrees outside, the situation might have escalated to a danger
  2. I love how the site automatically put the little confused face in place of my second "what to do?" The technology has obviously infiltrated my very brain and has SEEN first hand my natural state of being!! :rofl3:
  3. We have APs. Just trying to decide whether to spend the extra dough. My daughter is 10 and loves Disneyworld characters and Christmas...so it seems like a perfect match...decision, decisions. It's either the MVMCP or a dinner show! What to do??
  4. Is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party worth the $$$$?? Interested in your personal experiences! Thanks!
  5. We LOVE the 400 loop. 417 is our favorite site. Nice trees and because of how the loop is layed out, you have a lot of space on either side. Nice and close to the comfort station...short walk to the marina and a reasonable walk to the pool. I. LOVE. IT. When we were there a couple of weeks ago, they were just closing 400 to work on the road, but I'm sure it will be back up by December! Welcome!
  6. We did the FROZEN skating thing two weeks ago... and I'm here to tell you that unless you are a professional skater 30 minutes is PLENTY of time. My 10 year old and I went whilst hubs took pictures and videos. It was great fun, but my ankles were DONE 20 minutes in!! So, timing was good...they also did a nice job of limiting the number of people on the ice (or we went at a time with a reasonable number of folks skating)!
  7. How is the dole whip mix? Thougth about getting some, but have jumped in yet. I made some "dole whip" from a pinterest recipe, and my family was NOT impressed. We used what I made to mix up smoothies, which were good...but NOT a dole whip. Is the mix worth it? If for no other reason then to just mix in coconut rum??? :wave1: :wave1: :wave1:
  8. Wow! Thanks for all the great insight! It is really helpful to have some details before we arrive :)
  9. Now that you ask...I'll have to consider what is important! I guess we like a site that is relatively easy to back into and is long and wide (wishful thinking, I know!!!) We prefer being closer to the marina, so the 300 loop fits that bill. Some tree cover/privacy is nice, but not essential.
  10. Anyone have a favorite site in the 300 loop? We have a preferred site booked for the Thanksgiving time from and since we have a little pup with us, I am guess we will be in 300. I have studied the photos on the app (*NERD*), but am just looking for "fiend favorites!" :camp1:
  11. I think it took awhile to get moving, so I am pretty sure they took everyone off the train...I did hear that they used a cherry picker to evacuate the back cars, but again, I didn't see that personally. Car 1 just walked right out to the waiting staircase; I think it just depended on where you were on the train. They seemed to be prepared for everything, so I'm sure there was a way to get everyone off safely!
  12. Texas grand gathering at the FORT! Let's go!
  13. Honestly, no one was really freaked out in our car. My daughter got pretty upset when she found out she was going to have to go out the roof, but there were 3 really cute firemen on top of the train to help every step of the way, so there was not point at which you were on your own...someone always had a hold of you... I am not great at heights either, so I understand the fear factor. If no one had been up there to help, I would have totally freaked! And despite how the story got reported, you didn't have to crawl very far to get down into the next car. And I don't think it actually get evacua
  14. Pictures you want...then pictures you shall have!!!!! :jumpforjoy :jumpforjoy
  15. Late to the show on this one, BUT, wanted to share my 1st hand account of my experience being evacuated from the monorail - - - YES, my 10-year-old daughter and I were on the monorail when it STOPPED due to a big lightening strike (though it struck the power source and NOT the train). We all heard a really loud bang of thunder and heard the power and air shut off. I will tell you the media made it sound MUCH more dramatic than it was...although I think there may have been more dramatic people on other cars. I know there was more than one call to 911 because they finally came over the inter
  16. We are headed out in November...December was all booked up by the time we started looking for our next adventure! But a caravan would be great fun!
  17. Lucked into an upgrade from a full-hook up to a preferred this morning...and now there is one site left Nov 21-26th if anyone is looking. Hurry! I'm sure it won't last!
  18. I have seen several people pop-up from Texas...nice to know there are other WDW/Fort lovers around the state!
  19. That is the only down side - - - no electricity. But you can't beat the ease of pulling in and catching a few hours of sleep before hitting the road again. We stayed there going and coming...probably saved us $100. And this cheapo loves that! :jumpforjoy
  20. Hi there! We camped there for a couple of days. It is a nice park with lots of shade and just a short drive to the beach. The downside was the lack of sewer hook-up, since the bathrooms are, shall we say, a bit more on the rustic side :)
  21. I'd like to recommend the Mississippi Welcome Center near Stennis Space Center as a great place to grab some ZZZs on the way to the Fort if you are down south! There are ample pull thru RV slots back away from all the 18-wheelers so it is quieter than you would expect (although certainly not silent). Onsite security is visible in a golf cart. Nothing like a free nights sleep! Cheers!
  22. Hi Everyone! I am new to Fort Fiends and I'm so excited by how much great information is available! Please forgive my ignorance if my question has already been answered somewhere ovbious and I missed it. :rofl3: We previously stayed in the 400 in May and 200 loop in July - a premium site and preferred site respectively. We were only able to get a reservation for a full hook-up site this coming november and I am trying to decide which site to request. I just downloaded the APP, which is AWESOME BTW...and that leads us to my question... Are the lengths that are listed on the app the length
