  1. After breakfast at TE we went to DHS.  Had a great time.  Snacked this afternoon at the Brown Derby Lounge.  Came home and went looping for a long while.

We had thought about going to MK tonight to see MSEP and Wishes, but we're in the middle of a thunderstorm yet again.

Next week this time we'll be overnighting in SC and on our way home.

Had the same plan for MK...now sitting quietly, browsing the web, and listening to Must Do Disney. I know something must be seriously wrong with me, 'cause I never get tired of listening to Stacey!

  2. Sitting in my camper watching the game - what a roller coaster of emotions! By the way, watched the A&M game last week at ESPN Zone on the Boardwalk. Spent over $130 on beer...much cheaper to drink the beer I brought [emoji41]

  3. We were here!  You should have knocked.  Gretchen, another Fiend, was here visiting.  We found your site around 4:30 today but it didn't appear you were home.

Had planned to do an update tonight, but I got pleasantly sidetracked by Gretchen.

My bad - looked very quiet...

I was at MK today till 6ish. By the way, a group of very loud folks (8 or more) cut through my campsite from 100 loop. When I say cut through the campsite, I mean under my awning! That has never happened to me before.

  4. I'm so sorry. I am certain she brought you so much joy over the years. As a dog lover, I really have no words of comfort for you that can diminish the present pain. All I can say is I'm sorry...sometimes the English language just can't do a sentiment justice.

As long as the people involved in putting it there in the first place aren't involved.  ;)

It's seriously the worst attraction EVAH.  Last time I did it was a few years ago during the 24 hour MK event when we decided we were going to do EVERY ride/attraction.  It was late at night and under protest.  It was just as terrible as the first time.

I have always thought (though I absolutely don't know) that it was designed and approved by people in suits.  I can't imagine that an imagineer would sign off on it.  Yes, I will go on it ONCE this next trip just to remind myself how awful it is...

  6. Guy Fieri is teaming up with Planet Hollywood to revamp its menu at Walt Disney World's Disney Springs

Among the new dishes mentioned in Thursday's announcement are a "Prime Time American Kobe-Inspired Burger,”  "Turkey Pic-a-nic Sandwich" and "Chicken Crunch," which is allegedly a chicken fingers dish with a Cap'n Crunch cereal coating.

I am so trying the Cap'n Crunch chicken fingers: here's hoping they have a version with Crunch Berries...

  7. Got the word several months ago that some dear friends were going to Disney from the 14th to the 24th of October.  Soon 2 friends from California decided to join them, then 2 friends local to Orlando, then I agreed to join them...well it turned out to be 10 adults and 4 children! I knew I would have fun, but I also knew the frustration of doing what the group wanted to do would make me nuts.  Solution: take a solo trip from Sep 17th till Oct 5th and get my full Disney dosage before the big gathering.  So on the line to Jason.

Oct Trip was a total no go for the fort.  Had to settle for Pop Century.  Sep trip he got me the dates I needed in a full hook up, but not in the preferred loops I like to stay in.  No worries, I was sure I would still have a blast.

This morning I get word from Jason that he snagged a Preferred site for my Oct trip!  He handled all the details of swapping out the Pop Century for the Fort.  10 minutes later I get an email from him with my new reservation for the Sep trip as well: he got me a Preferred site for both dates!

No way I could have pulled this off by myself - it was Jason's total commitment to checking availability continuously that snagged me the preferred sites for both trips.  Jason, thank you so much!!!

  8. Welcome to the Fiends, and welcome to Pop Up camping. Every time I think about a TT, I open all the flaps on the PUP...it is like living in a screen house, and I love it!

Putting up the PUP wet is sometimes unavoidable, but I want to double up on the advice to open it back up as soon as you get home and let it dry out. Also second the advice to lower stabilizers AFTER you crank the top up. Level the PUP, raise the top, lower the stabilizers.

As I recall, the canvas on a Rockwood needs to go thru a couple of wet dry cycles before it is 100% waterproof. Check with your dealer, but I'm pretty sure you need to open it up and wet it down with a hose/let it dry/repeat.

Backing up a PUP is a bit more "wiggly" than a longer TT. Practice at a local parking lot. You will see that small corrections are better than flinging the wheel back and forth. I also use the hand at the bottom of the steering wheel method and always just use the mirrors.

Another tip is to run your A/C fan on high speed - it helps with air flow so that it doesn't freeze up as easy. PUP's aren't as well insulated as TT's...

  9. I used my bike and had a blast.  Remember, the Fort is like seriously flat - riding a bike there is effortless and a lot of fun.  I did have a friend join me for a couple of days, and he had a cart that he trailered down from Pensacola.  Fun to loop around the campground, but I actually enjoyed biking better.

  10. We have started talking about a summer long road trip for us in a few years will be tuning in for some notes.

My wife and I took a 40 day road trip before kiddos, rented a convertible and hit the road just a start date and an approx end date, the rest was play it by ear. Best 10k miles of our lives to date. That was in hotels not a camper, cannot wait to repeat with a camper. .

Those are the best trips ever.  Did a totally unplanned 3 week motorcycle trip one summer.  All back roads, no plan at all.  Had a blast, but my wife pointed out that I had gone through every state North and West of Texas (we lived in Dallas at the time).  So the next year I went solo again to make sure I hit the rest of the states.  Made a plan.  Hit all the states....but it wasn't nearly as much fun as the unplanned trip the year before.

  11. I've heard that one is nice, but is it also the one difficult for RVs to reach? Our friends with a PUP stay there often.

They actually have about 10 pull throughs for larger rigs - so pretty easy. It is only about 5 miles off of I75, and good roads all the way (except for a bridge that is a little narrow, but no big problem). I will admit that most of the other sites are a bit difficult to back in a larger RV.

There are no full hookup sites, by the way.

  12. Bailey and Gandalf became fast friends. Bailey even fed him bacon from her hand and took his leash and walked him around the campground when we all took a stroll. Brandon, on the other hand, didn't take as kindly to my big buddy, but it is understandable when you are only 3 years old and the dog's eyes and yours are at the same level...

Seeing all the kiddos catch a fish was really a joy - two of them for the first time ever!
