  1. Interesting. That's why I said "apparently". I am in Charlotte area and have only seen and read about them online. I had just chalked it up to me never going near Greensboro around Christmas.
  2. Well, I didn't see any other board I thought this should go on, so here it goes. I'm recovering our picnic table seat pads. The red/white gingham was really faded on one side and torn in a couple of spots. I looked at some oilcloth, but that really wasn't economically logical. Ended up using the same kind of fabric that came on it - like a vinyl with felt backing (i.e. what some tablecloths are made with). They even had the identical red/white gingham, but I thought I'd be different, so I picked a navy with American flags print. Not sure why I didn't buy enough to make a matching tablecl
  3. Thanks, guys. I finished the snowman. My son says the ears do not look like MM. Everyone's a critic, I swear. Though I will secretly agree with him that the ones on the balls look better I am going to have to find some kind of stake or something as it is a little top heavy. The balls will just hang from whatever I can find to hang them on.
  4. OMG, I could never live with you. I don't even like living here at the 70 my husband puts ours on in the summer.
  5. Anyone familiar with these? I started seeing them on the interwebs a year or two ago. Apparently they have been a big thing in Greensboro, NC for years. Anyhoo, I thought I would try to make some this year to take to Ft. Wilderness. And then one night I had an epiphany - add two tiny balls on top for mouse ears. I also made one snowman with mouse ears but haven't put the lights on yet. Here are a couple of pics.
  6. I paid 1.92/gal yesterday at BJs in Concord, but it's 1.97-2.02 elsewhere around.
  7. The thing in Bend was a whole computerized system on the wall. You had to use a credit card (of course I went in with all quarters and had to go back to my camper), you picked your machine there from the empty ones, and you could enter your phone number for the text. As you can expect, with any system there are still problems. 1) People still not back to remove their laundry when it's finished. It was mostly older people. Maybe they don't text. 2) The system went down and I kept checking back to find it still out. Finally, the office opened and I asked them when it was being fixed. They
  8. I think that's perfectly acceptable. If I was the one who wasn't back in time, I wouldn't be mad.BTW, I was at a campground in Bend, OR, and you could sign up to get texts when your machine finished.
  9. Well, when I was in college, the answer was you didn't wait at all, they better be there. Not sure what the answer is at campgrounds. I have waited before at one, but it wasn't more than 5 min. and they showed up.
  10. They should do a test on how I always get drenched when others in my family just get a few drops.
  11. Good point, but Kali also has one of the biggest loading/unloading areas on those kinds of rides. I never had a problem, but I'm sure there are people slower than me.
  12. I always thought WDW was brilliant to have that little plastic covered space in the center of the raft. None of the other parks I've been to have that. Maybe I'm weird, but I'd rather just use that than lockers.
  13. We were camping this summer in Boone, NC, and I left my purse hanging on a chair outside all night! It was still there, with everything inside in the morning. I think most campers respect others' stuff, but I certainly wouldn't do that on purpose to test it out.
  14. Here is my dog Ellie getting a laser treatment at the vet. Yes, she is wearing doggles. She had surgery in early July to have 5 lipomas removed all over and looked like Frankendog with all the shaved spots. She was in an e-collar for 2 weeks and had to have one of the incisions drained 4 days in a row (followed by the laser treatments.) At the end of July she swallowed a half corn cob and had to have surgery again! 2 more weeks in the cone of shame and like 20 staples on her stomach. She is a 9 year old Golden Retriever. Sometimes she acts like she's a puppy, and other times she is defi
  15. I've always found just keeping air off helps (yes, I'm a klutz in the kitchen, too), so I'll put a band-aid on or wrap a wet paper towel around. Maybe the tinfoil is the same principle.
  16. As promised, here are the pics from trying this. I wish I could make them smaller, but I'm not seeing how right now. (My notes are just an added bonus! ) 1) I think the maps are from 2004! Pretty sure we went that year, and MK one says "Soarin' coming in 2005". 2) I used MK and MGM/HS. Was a tough choice, but EC and MK were weirdly shaped. I may still make another, bigger one with those. 3) Would've made a bigger one, but that was the biggest zipper I had on hand. It is propped against my iPad mini for some perspective. I should've put a little loop for a key ring or lobster clasp to atta
  17. I wouldn't say it is simple. In our case, we had never been there and had no idea it was a tight loop or the need to request a different one. I entered our details online when making the res and told them on the phone that we had a 40ft. The people working there should recognize it might be a problem since they are familiar with the campground. PS - we weren't the problem, it was the guy across from us with his truck in the road. Once we got in, our MH and Jeep were completely in the spot.
  18. Our first (and only until Christmas!) time at Ft. Wilderness, we were in 300 loop and almost didn't make it into our spot (301 or 302) because there was a truck parked across from us. If the yellow lines were there then, he would've been on them or on the road side of them. I even knocked on his camper door but no one came. Finally we got in but it was a huge pain. We've been in a LOT of campgrounds since, and that ranks #2 in difficulty to get in. So, I'm not opposed to those if people abide by them.
  19. Exactly. I bought a 2012 Jayco Sport popup in Fall 2013 brand new for just over $7k. It had the 3-way fridge and that particular dealer puts ACs in all of their popups. So, it can be done!
  20. So, we're going down around Christmas (we have 12/21-1/1 but haven't decided when we're actually heading down) with another family (they're doing 12/26-1/1). We are both in Premium and have requested pet loops and to be near each other. I think I also asked to be in the premium loop closest to the dog park. Neither of us really need comfort stations or to be near the buses. I'm guessing we should both send in the fax request I've read about here when it's time. We probably won't even be requesting specific sites, just to be near each other, unless you all know of two sites that would
