  1. When we shop for a camper I will stand in the shower, sit on the toilet to make sure I fit, I'm not real big but tall, the beds I've learned to live with. When we think we found the one we like we try to spend a good amount of time in the unit @ the dealers lot to see if it works for us, not a fool proof plan but it does eliminate some mistakes. Most dealers have never complained to us but even if they did they are not the only one who sells that brand.
  2. I have seen this brand alot in our travels and they seem to hold up well and have not heard anyone with any issues with them plus they seem to be a well built very light unit.
  3. Do not forget that the tow rateing will also apply to the brakes as well, I am sure a 250 will have a better brake system maybe larger brake pads to assist with towing also don't forget added suspension. We have had rather large 5th wheels for about 10 years now and started with a single wheel 1 ton because everyone said that's all you need, well after gettig the duelly I would not go back to the singles it is so more stable in turns now. I see your points as well but just don't cut things to close a little overkill will benifit in the long run, just my opinion. :)Good luck on your choice >
  4. I have heard this is a good stopover but it is rather close to the highway, you could also try the campgrou fartnd @ Kings Dominion ither from 95 and quiet( no road noise)
  5. We were there over the 4th last year but did not use the pool that day , I think we did Typhoon Lagoon then Ca Grill for dinner & fireworks. Whe we were leaving the Fort to Typhoon Lagoon we saw a guard at the overflow lot( then you could still enter from the back gate and half the lot could be enerted before the Fort) I heard they were checking names and not letting others in that were not guests, I guess it didn't work. We were told it was to keep from letting to many folks in to watch fireworks but I thought they were there all day. :D
  6. In the late 70's the trailers that were the rental units were a Fleetwood product and some of them were 1st used at 1 of the Olympic games as houseing for atheletes, sorry but I do not remeber what games.
  7. Rt 9 is an alternate route but it is not a good choice if towing small 2 lane road with a lot of turns, I live in the area and would not recomend it towing.
  8. This campground is only about an hour from home and we used it often, but when they put in the waterpark and our kids are to old for that now we do not feel the cost is worth it for us , now if we still had little ones I am sure it would be woth it. It is a very nice and well kept park and gets mixed reviews on RV Park reviews.
  9. Right now I tow with a Ford F350 dually and have a 39' 5th wheel, I would like to step up to a Freighliner. If you look at a truck I would highly suggest at least a 3/4 ton with that you will have enough truck for a lot of different campers plus you could go either TT or 5th wheel.
  10. I always had a Chevy Suburban when we had travel trailers and loved them, I thought about a Ford Excursion but it would have had to been a diesel. I know the Toyota trucks have a good tow capacity not sure what their larger suv is I would check them.
  11. For folks that have used their DVC @ the Fort how far out did you book we have tried to use ours for the Fort but did not hve good luck. I got all excited when we could start to use our points there and once figured out we could have been there for 11 weeks on our points :rofl2:
  12. I always enjoyed his trip reports, I aslo enjoy all the others also, he just has a way of makeing his stand out. We live to far away and do not get there as often a I would like to so all the trip repotrs fill the void, thanks to all that do it
  13. Congrats on the new pup, you'll feel like royalty now moving up from a tent, bad weather will not seem so bad now ::)
  14. Unfortunately it STILLl is!! When our relatives come down to the shore they say that Rt. 47 gets their stomachs ready for the rides! We will find out in May as we are going to Sea Shore Campsites for Mother's Day weekend.
  15. We have done Backyard BBQ & HDDR we liked HDDR best, but if you have younger children Backyard BBQ would be the best Never did Aloha so can not help there
  16. Here is a prime example as to why training is needed to operate larger RV's, I hope the link works. --------------------http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/School-bus-involved-in--118946324.html------------------------------------------------------------
  17. Not a campground but very popular in Strassburg Pa very rich with train attractions. http://www.redcaboosemotel.com/
  18. For us it depends on when we leave, if we leave in the o dark thirty time( early am) we go right down 95, if later in the day with a stop for the night we will take 301 down to 95. Most of the time from there it's right down 95 to Rt 4
  19. Those high speed ones are great. They have them up in NH on I95. I wish they had thema couple of years ago when we went to Maine, the traffic was so bad in NH and getting into Maine. once we found the regular EZ pass lanes and got around the folks who had to pay cash it was better.
  20. They are installing high speed EZ Pass lanes, they have them on Rt 1 and they are great go right thru at highway speed. I know at some of the busy toll lanes in Pa on the turnpike they did the same thing, on our way to Cedar Point once it took almost 20 minutes for our friends to catch up because they do not have EZ pass and we sailed right thru.
  21. Just thought I would give a headsup to anyone traveling thru De. during the spring break times I was on 95 last night and drove over top it today and the toll booths at the construction zones are backed up both directions. The traffic reports sya to expect that weekends all thru the Easter holiday, also if you try to miss it by going thru at night they have road work at the Rt1 exit that will shut down the highway at night and detour you around it also I think at times in both directions. Just do not want htis to ruin the start or end of anyones vacation, have a safe trip
  22. Rt 13 would be ok till you got below Dover but plan on alot of traffic lights, you will have to get over to Rt1 sometime to get to Rt113 to get towards Ocean City. We use Rt1 all the time to go to the De. Beaches and it is not a problem, we have a 5th wheel not sure if it makes a difference, I would stick with the Rt1 choice I do not think it will be that bad. I know what it use to be like to take Rt47 down to Wildwood NJ and nothing could be as bad as that was.
