  1. Since I began the thread noting the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War, I need to start a happy thread. So here it is...... April 12, 2011 is the 50th anniversary of manned spaceflight (Vostok 1) and the 30th anniversary of the very first Space Shuttle launch (Columbia). As a side note, the NASA director is expected to announce tomorrow that the Space Shuttle Atlantis will make it's permanent residency right here at the Kennedy Space Center!!!! :yourock: There has been so much wrangling for the shuttles that there had been a great chance the space center would not rece
  2. In just 7 1/2 hours, 4:30am April 12, 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the attack on Fort Sumter and the beginning of the Civil War. Some of us Southerners still call it the 'War of Northern Aggression' Whether you are Southern or Northern please take a few moments to remember our ancestors who lost their lives fighting for what they believed in.
  3. As usual, I was camping at the fort over last July 4th. And, I was at A pool, just not THAT pool. lol Soooo glad I used a different one and missed the AFR. :raspberry: I believe that pool hopping is fine so long as it isn't a 'popular' pool at a 'popular' time. As a resort guest I don't care if other resort guests use the FW pool, just like I hope they don't care if I use their pool. DVC allows pool hopping, but it limits it during certain times (and the Beach Club pool is always off limits). The catch is that you have to carry your ID card with you and show it to any CM that reques
  4. I hate this topic!!! That being said, most of these folks are loud & obnoxious. When they get this way simply call security. Be sure you meet with security & let them know you want the people removed. Hopefully they will do so. If not do like us southern girls do & go to the front desk & show your a$$. Also called a hissy fit. If you do this right you're bound to get a manager's attention. And don't forget to demand a refund for not being able to use the pool. See how that works. Or if you want to be coy and not so loud, go to the front desk, tell them you are loca
  5. Thanks for the info. Talk about trying to define your site!!
  6. You'll be fine :rofl2: You have all of Disney as your outdoor living room! Enjoy your vacation & post TR when you're able.
  7. I wanted to stay at a Jellystone at Hagerstown last year. Very similar set up as this one. The prices were outrageous. Thought I'd read them wrong online, so I called. When the woman confirmed I basically said 'wow, you're more than Disney' She told me to go stay at Disney then. So I did. :rofl2:
  8. I received a blank one also. I marked it as spam and ran my antivirus. so far so good.
  9. yes, back on topic.... I'm sure this will be a shocker for many of you, but I like to decorate!! I know, I think I'm addicted. Anyway, I hang colored string lights up around what I consider to be our site, at about 4-5 feet off the ground. This not only defines our site, but also provides some good lighting at night and sort of decorates the place. If you want to cut across our site you'd better watch your neck!
  10. It looks fantastic except for the bathhouse. Look at the mildew growing around the base of the shower & the bench. ewwwwww Otherwise I'd stay there.
  11. Usually we book 6-11 months out. We called just last week to book the week after Easter (as in a couple of weeks away) & low & behold they had sites! Unfortunately for us we were within 4 months of use year & this is a trade, so we couldn't book it :argh: We ended up with studio at OKW instead.
  12. We own (since 1992) and just purchased more last month. For us it works wonderfully. At least every other year, if not back to back years, we trade points for a Disney cruise. Saves us a ton. In fact, we don't sail Disney (except for FF Dream cruise) unless we can use points. They are just too expensive if paying cash, so we go Princess. Anyway, we use at the Fort when it's peak season & sites are $100 a night. We can take trips with kids or in-laws at OKW in the 2-bedroom & it saves a bundle. It isn't for everyone, it is for us.
  13. Well I have accounts with 5 of them. How lucky am I?? I'll let y'all know how many thousands of junk/spam e-mails I get. :rofl2:
  14. Just don't wear the cheap ones, they tend to bind more than the higher-end thongs! :welcome: I never said I wore the butt floss! I just hang them from the nearest tree! Try it, you may like it! Agreed. You'll never know unless you try
  15. If you look real close she has snarky eyes. :siren: Oh My Goodness. That is hilarious!!
  16. Sounds like your going bar hopping.. :siren: Sorry couldn't resist.. :siren: :siren: You're bad! :siren: :siren: I've had nights like that. :siren:
  17. If any of you fiends are planning on coming to the coast for the launch, please let me know! Iffins you're nice maybe we could have a cook-out at my place  This goes double for Devores, cause I owe him for the last time.
  18. I did NOT get that e-mail & guess what, I already got an e-mail from the hackers! Yeah, lucky me. The problem with this is now they know the e-mail addresses & will send out spam (ie: trojans, virus, malware) to you & because it looks like it's from Disney Destinations, you open it & you get to take computer in ONCE AGAIN to have it fixed by a techie. So I'm going to unsubscribe to the e-mails & if I receive anything just delete it. Hopefully they won't use my e-mail address to send things to those on my contact list! (similar thing happened last year, some people got lette
